I once rescued a three week old kitten from a box in a parking lot after a storm. When we had had him for two weeks he climbed onto a table a table (never worked out how) and fell. We had no way to get him to a vet till morning. I sat with him and the only thing I could think to do was sing. This is still the only song I know most of the lyrics for, so I sang it for him till he fell asleep. My cat is now eight. He's currently dozing in my lap as we listen to this together. Thank you so much for this cover, utter beauty.
As a dude who has been privileged to grow up around both cats and dogs, the bond between a human and their animal is something truly indescribably special.
The first time I saw this video it didn’t have the same weight compared to the first time I watched it after having to put my cat of 19 years down. The bond between animals and humans can be truly amazing.
19 years ago, early in my marriage, I found a baby kitty outside on our acreage, smaller than this little one. It was the end of October and she was laying stretched out, stiff and cold. But she raised her head and mewed. I worked for 3 hours to bring her back to life, warming her, gently moving her little limbs, and putting warm milk and egg in her mouth with a pipette. I felt so awful because I actually found her the night before and left her outside, thinking her momma must be somewhere around and would be back. My baby kitty is now 19. Turns out I wasn’t able to have children. Marriage fell apart 10 years ago but my little cat is still with me.
This was my dog's favorite song to sing to, we put him down today and well it reminds me most of him. Fourteen and a half years with this dog went quick, was one of my favorite family members.
Found this song while recovering in the hospital a few days after getting out of ICU from almost bleeding to death on 10.10.17 from a c-section. I just had held my baby boy for the first time a couple hours before I found this song. It seemed to fit. Reminds me of how life is a gift. Love Theory of a Deadman and Cats!
I've heard the song a thousand times by a thousand artist. In my opinion, the beauty of this is the video itself. It's not someone he is singing this song to, it is to that kitten. That puts this song in a different kind of context, especially from this artist, and it makes the message seem all the more strong. I love this.
My wife and I were teen parents. We had are only child, a son we named Christopher in 1983. Over the years I fell in love with this song from Leonard Cohen and many of the great covers. Our son passed away last year at 40. As it turned out this version was one of his favorite songs and when we played it at his celebration I fell to pieces. It made me cry before he passed and now it is almost unbearable but I will listen, I must listen. My wife can't yet listen to it.
Going through the worst breakup I've ever experienced, this video and song is saving me from a crippling depression and helping me to cope with learning to be alone again, thank you theory of a deadman
Heartbreak is one of the worst feelings ever honestly the only thing worse is the passing of a family or friend just know it gets better day by day it will get easier you will wanna wake up one day and smile and you won’t think about them so much and then you’ll think about them less and less and then that’ll hurt but it does get better and it gets to the point to where you can be happy without that personDon’t give up it does get better from one human to another I love you it will work out things will get better
There is something really special about and I'm glad I got to have my black cat from a kitten to his final day on this earth. He lived 15 years and died almost 2 yrs ago and I still always think of him. He was my heart and carried a piece of my soul that will never heal but as they say "better to have love and lost than to have never loved at all".
This is one of the songs I see most people cover to just show off their vocal talents rather than to portray its message. In order for this song to sound ANY good, you need to put your soul into it. This one exudes soul. 4 years later, and I still come back to listen to it again and again.
I always thought there were way too many versions of this song already. I’m glad Theory of a Deadman didn’t think so. This is now my absolute favorite version of this classic.
Amazing.... I am a retired veteran. I have seen the best of and worst of human kind and yet music can can still bring bring tears to my eyes. Thank you for such a beautiful rendition of this some.
My fur baby past away the day before Halloween this year. I had him with my family for 14 years we basically grew up together seeing this brought so many memories and tears to my eyes. So very heart warming and a beautiful song!
as a catholic and a strong beleiver in rock music in general... i fully back this song as one of the most beautifull renditions of a classic church hymn that you will ever hear
Your cover... is just by far the best cover I've ever heard before... I'm getting so nostalgic listening to this and it feels so good. I remember these years at Christmas, the firs, the Cristmas trees, the Christmas's Eve dinners. Every smells, every tastes... Everything. This song is magic, and I'll keep listening to it in two weeks. I wish I had the tabs to play it tho.. :c Thanks to you ! This song has done wonders for my son. I played this song for him just after he was born in the NICU. Every time he gets stressed (ocd) or putting him to bed I play this song and almost instantly he calms down and relaxes.
This has always been a personal favorite of mine, but this version is incredible. I was not expecting the video to be about his bond with an adorable cat though. And it doesn't have a sad ending, I'm so freaking happy.
I've searched for, and listened to, so many covers of this song. I just found this one. I have tears. It really got to to me. Thank you to the beautiful man who sings it in this video. Wow.
Yesterday, my singing coach sent me this song. It hit me hard I had to move to a bigger city two years ago and my cat is in my mom's house since. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Hope I can bring her to my new home next year
His cat is the most precious thing in the world! I love cats and I love Theory of a Deadman! This is an amazing version of this song! Thank you for singing this.
Shocked to hear this from Theory Of A Deadman. Absolutely beautifully redone. My wife used to sing this to my son when he got fussy at night. This one had my in tears now that I've just heard it.
I thought I didn’t have anymore tears left in my life, but after giving this a watch and listen, it honestly felt nice to let it all go and just break down like a baby again ❤️
This made me cry the first time that I listened to this song because it's done so beautifully. This is their best cover yet. I hope this is on their upcoming album.
This video is so touching it reminds me of my little cat Zoey, she was found in a hole and given to me by a friend, she was a month and half to two months old when I got her, she was scared of everything and basically bottle fed her, I still have her to this day and I love her so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ she's 5 years old today ❤️❤️❤️
Honestly, I thought this was a tribute to possibly a cat he'd owned that had passed away, but then I saw the time stamp and then I figured it out. RIH, Leonard Cohen. You've been greatly missed. I loved the kitten in the video, how he was so lost until he found the kitten in the box, took him/her in and cared for him/her into adulthood. Such a cutie, I'm glad they let him keep the kitten! I'm most definitely a cat person. I love dogs, don't get me wrong, but kittens and cats, big and small, hold a special place in my heart. I have a passion for them. This video did make me cry, not only for the loss of Cohen, but for the loss of my beloved Midnight. We lost him in Feb 2017 at the age of 14 years old, and he looked exactly like this adult cat does. And he was such a comfort. Midnight, me and hubby went through such rough times together, but we made it through; because we were a family. We adopted another all black kitty in 2008, Yoda. I rescued him from a former friend who'd been abusing him while she lived with us. The day I found out was the day she was kicked out of our home and out of our lives... permanently. And of course we kept Yoda. I rehabilitated him and was able to get him to trust us with his life. It took 4 years of intensive therapies which I learned by reading and watching videos on cat behavior and how to rehabilitate a cat after suffering from abuse. I cried with joy at every milestone, from the first slow blink back at me, to him cuddling with me in bed, to him seeking me out for comfort when he's scared. He's only recently discovered that sitting on my or hubby's lap is an enjoyable thing. And I was so happy the first time he did it! He's come so far from being that poor little kitten cowering in the corner of the hallway and jumping at his own shadow to being a super sweet, affectionate and loving companion with an attitude, lol. And I'm so grateful to have him in our lives. He was a huge comfort to us with the loss of Midnight. I know Yoda grieved for him, too. So we all grieved together and healed together as a family. My Midnight was one of a kind, and so is my little Yodabutt. 💕💕
Love your style of this song, Surrey native, spent forever in Delta...now also an Ex-pat in the US....come on in the water's fine...remember, Keep your stick on the ice!!
I'm crying! I recently lost my best furfriend, Nitro and had made mention that I would love to adopt a black kitty when the time is right. Maybe this is my sign.
One of the most touching and loving videos. It's nice to see such tenderness...it makes a real connection in a world who lost focus on what is important. Thank you for bring this back to life. I have followed your music for a long time seen you all in concert I have never been disappointed. Thank you for such a beautiful video most would never dear to produce. You all are awsome keep up the great work.
TerrifiedTaylor Gaming but what was in the box before? I guess I'm asking if he left the kitten in the box all day or if she put it in there after grabbing her crap.
Aww i named my baby Hallie because of this song! My girl helped me get over my broken heart and then she had to be put to sleep and i realized how broken a heart could be 😭 i will miss her forever
I've had the pleasure to meet this band briefly years ago, and Tyler's voice never fails me. He's a beautiful man with a beautiful voice. He cares and deserves so much to be happy. (These adverts are a nightmare!)
I have loved Theory for so many years. So many of their songs have brought me peace in times of pain. This is my most favorite version of this song and the video is by far the cutest ever!!!
Thanks Tyler...this broke me...admiration and respect to you my man. As I've aged I've become a kinder soul...it shouldn't have taken so long and that I regret. Thank you for your trust.
One of my favorite songs.. add Tyler and that kitten!? 😍😭 Alot of people have tried this song, some great, some okay, and some no just no. Tyler nailed it! ❤️
I have probably listened to 50 versions of this song and this absolutely the best!! Thank you Theory you got it right, your voice is just beautiful. The video goes straight to the heart as an animal lover and someone that is an empath, this just blew me away!
I've listened to this song a lot. My father's iPod had it. He died 11_11_11. Yesterday was his birthday. I was given a tiny black kitten that my friend found and I named her after this song😄💝
This video makes me miss my cat. His name was Clutch, he was not my first cat. He was one of my best friends though and was there through a lot of things. My First girlfriend, first break up, first day of highschool, last day of highschool. He was my cat and best friend. We learned a lot together and I will never forget him. I was there when he was born and raised him. We did many things together and spent many a fine afternoon reading books. I will surely miss him.
my girlfriend broke up with me a month ago, two weeks i was super hurt and then i heard this song and theory of a dead man has helped me a lot since, they are amazing and i wish i could meet them. Rock on
no matter who sings this song it brings me to tears everytime i hear it cuz im broken have been will always be and this song touches my soul the very fabric of my being amen
I met Tyler a few years ago in Sturgis , he was a very nice guy . He said he was in a band called Theory of a Deadman . I said I never heard of them . I looked the band up when I got home and have been a fan ever since.
So I should start by saying, I already love this band, I've been listening to them for years, great band all around awesome performers. But I did not know they did their own version of this song. now I usually listen to the Pentatonix version of hallelujah but I was looking for something a little different tonight, but something that still the same song also that delivered the same effect and once again T,O,A,D does not disappoint. I love you guys, keep up the excellent work. And I'll leave you with a quote from THE Wild Stallions : Rock on and be excellent to one another.
I bought this when you released it and I love it so much! I've studied it and it is the best thing I've ever heard! You guys are the best looking forward to the new album and seeing you on your next UK tour hopefully in Cardiff
Well I've heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? Well it goes like this: The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Well your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya She tied you to her kitchen chair And she broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah But baby I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor You know, I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Well there was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me do ya But remember when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Maybe there's a God above But all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Sorry for the loss of your furbaby our baby turned 14 last month n I see it coming
@@bonnieperry3305 always a hard one, another member of the family with a great personality.
Mine got hit by a car a year ago. I've lost many loved ones, but losing my good boy broke me on the most basic level, he was so good and innocent.
Always loved Tyler's voice...first time I heard this...not gonna lie....cried like a baby....
OMG ~ Me too Lindsay Seese !! One of my FAVES though !! ❤️
Aww
I thought I was the only one
Would never have expected this from Theory of a Deadman, but I have to say it is one of the very best versions of this song I have heard. Great job!
Gzr Gldr I agree. It was amazing live.
Axel Rudi Pell blows this version away
Axel Rudy Pell can sing his ass off, but its too much for this song.
Jeff Buckley's version. that's all I have to say.
Kota Rain Absofuckinglutely. Jeff Buckleys version is art.

Music seems to ease the most painful memories. When I'm down or simply having a bad day, I close my eyes and listen to songs like this.
I always thought there were way too many versions of this song already. I’m glad Theory of a Deadman didn’t think so. This is now my absolute favorite version of this classic.
My favorite version of this song😢 hands down!!!!!

Das Carlin His ex left the kitten.

I have probably listened to 50 versions of this song and this absolutely the best!! Thank you Theory you got it right, your voice is just beautiful. The video goes straight to the heart as an animal lover and someone that is an empath, this just blew me away!
This is the BEST version of Hallelujah, I have listened to...EVER!! Thank you! 💖
I can safely say with my dog sleeping upstairs right now and my cat sitting in front of me that these moments are life’s greatest hallelujah.
wonderful tribute brother. just brought a tear to my eye. rip Leonard Cohen.
The videograpy beautifully accentuates the song. Gave me a totally different feeling to the song, than I have felt or seen of before.
Loved seeing you guys unplugged last week in Mississauga. Great show. You guys rock!!!
I've listened to this song a lot. My father's iPod had it. He died 11_11_11. Yesterday was his birthday. I was given a tiny black kitten that my friend found and I named her after this song😄💝
Watching this video I wonder.. who saved who?? ❤️
Rock on

Best cover of this song in my opinion.
Any group that can do any variety of music they do is simply.. extravagant ... love that
Beautiful song guys!
I'm so proud of you guys
Jorge Steban Morillo Arango same
Jorge Steban Morillo Arango proud?
I met Tyler a few years ago in Sturgis , he was a very nice guy . He said he was in a band called Theory of a Deadman . I said I never heard of them . I looked the band up when I got home and have been a fan ever since.
Absolutely love this my favorite version ♡ they played this at my friend's wake. So beautiful
It shocks me how underrated ToaD is.
This is just so heart felt. Idk why but i had to hold back tears while watching this. Beautiful video.
I bought this when you released it and I love it so much! I've studied it and it is the best thing I've ever heard! You guys are the best looking forward to the new album and seeing you on your next UK tour hopefully in Cardiff
Such a tender rendition of one of Leonard's finest ever! Thank you...it's beautiful.
I can't explain how much I love this man! Love Theory of a Deadman!! 💕 💕 💕
Fantastic I have never really listened to them before. I am now watching multiple videos
Well I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
And she broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
But baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
You know, I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
1:05 "Grace" 😁😎 that's a cool Easter egg. Good cover.
And I absolutely love this song
