Severely underrated sequel. Clearly not as good as the first, but it's truly a fun action movie. Kept the tone dark and violent. In comparison to the 3rd movie, this movie is a masterpiece. Love every minute of it.

The stop motion fight scenes remind me of the old Sinbad movies (skeletons with swords!) but I still like this movie and would still watch it today 👍🏾💯
When the trailer has the original score but the movie doesn’t
Trailers very rarely have the film score in them, often a shame as the music featured is usually better.
Well, trailer for the first Robocop has the Terminator score.
I thought this movie was okay It's not as good as the 1st Robocop but It's better than Robocop 3 and the remake!
What makes you say that, this movie is better than remake?
The remake is much more better than this one.
Robocop 2 has a very erratic plot. They introduce the Muphy´s wife and son as an element of the story at the very begining and then they are forgotten for the rest of the movies.
There are segments that don´t fit well on the story, the subplot about faxx reprograming Robocop is something can be disposed of and the stoyr will not be affected.
The depiction of character as the OCP old man or Johnson on the first movie were satirical on a very smart way, here those characters are silly and campy as they were Adam West´s Batman villains.
Wally Gator Well the Cgi was quite scary and hard to look at.

I like the robocop 2 theme…it was something unique to the movie…i never noticed the original score was missing until like 10 or so years ago 😂….ive been watching this movie since it came out, im 36 now so that shows you I guess how the original robocop march didn’t affect me..in this movie….if it was in along with the scores for the movie I wouldn’t have mind though
Because the composer for Robocop 1 didn't do the music for Robocop 2. Why? I don't know. Why it could'n't be used without him; not sure about that either. He did come back for 3 where the classic theme was used again and was probably the only good thing about that movie. The composer for Robocop 2 created his original music.
Robocop 2's music doesn't live up to 1, but I personally enjoy it. If it was available on vinyl; I'd def buy it
@@hwahid8 I mean they could of just paid the man for the rights to that theme alone then used part 2's as well. I liked the 2nd theme but lets be honest its no where close to the first.
It wont fit. Robocop 2 had a different tone altogether and the music was specially composed for this movie just like the first score was specially composed for Robocop 1.
robocop 2 is WEIRD you'll hate it the first time and have to watch it a few times to learn to love it!

It should have been better if it was directed by Irving Kirshner. But Empire Strikes Back is sort of a kid’s movie as is Never Say Never Again. What they should’ve done was get Paul Verhooven to direct it again, or get him to recommend someone else.
Paul was busy directing Total Recall and he doesn't really like sequels, so it kinda makes sense for them to get someone else
Its a bit of a guilty pleasure movie now

As a kid this was my favorite movie. In some ways it still is.
I had this and T2 on VHS playing on repeat as a kid.
I haven't seen "Robocop 2" since last time in 1992.
The last time I saw it was on The NEW TNN and WGN America, plus they aired it for the 1st time on Network Television on FOX

The trailer makes it seem Murphy is somewhat happy about going on patrol when really he's got all the uneeded new directives added. Kinda wish it was like that showing while Murphy may be Robocop he is still human and enjoys simple things like being a cop or having a sense of humor, Oh well.
It gives away the whole movie but still cool.
When they decided to turn a drug addict into robocop 2.. I immediately knew it was not going to end well LOL
I mean that piece of the plot was that corporate greed and it was mentioned in the film how crazy and ridiculous it was to put a criminal drug addict in to robocop 2 they made it apart of the plot....and i find it crazy how ceartain people down this film when the original Robocop 2 script was what we got in robocop 3

so they just showed the whole movie.
That movie got a lot of bad critics. But as long as Peter Weller is in the picture, I am fine with it. A must see for those who loved the original.

For some reason this movie's villains have never been more relevant in today's society with fentanyl, the no police zones, thievery, cartels, and vandalism in the United States of America. Crime was always an issue back then, but now its straight out of old films like Robocop 1 and 2.

I loved that kid!!! He definitely made this movie as far as I'm concerned.
So underrated. O always loved this movie since the First time I watched it at the Theater in 1990. Don't undestand the backlash. Maybe it's because I was 9 and created childhood memories about It. Good times when they let 9-olders to watch violent movies at the Theater. No questions asked.

I do love the robocop franchise but this movie's limb cutting scene really put a trauma in my early childhood. Before that it was T1 eye cut scene.

I personally like Robocop 2 over the 1st one, More Action and Less Tense, but hey, we all have our own preference
Plus I like the music to Robocop 2 by the late Laurence Rosenthal who also did music to the TV Version of Logan's Run with Gregory Harrison, Heather Menzies and Randy Powell
The dumb masses usually like more action over well made storylines...Just saying.

Yet there is depth in its metaphor of a depraved techno-totalitarian state.
Other than the fact it's a movie sequel, the title ALSO states the villain's name: Cain/RoboCop 2/RoboCain.

I love this sequel. An amazing movie, although I do feel like it throws away everything achieved in robocop 1987, its still a great movie. Basils score would've definitely helped with the movie. Robocop 2 is a classic sequel, probably one of the greatest sequels ever as sequels are usually terrible.
It can't be a good sequel if it takes a big dump on the original

Loved it as a kid, loved it as an adult.
Robocop 2 is the best part 2 sequel to me. I prefer it to T2, not trying to be mean. This was a heroes story and as i got older i realized its also a commentary on parents groups reducing robo to a superhero. Its just as funny as the original, the end fight is just fucking badass.
Misleading trailer. Gives the impression that we'll see a lot more of RoboCain than we actually did. The film is at least two thirds about the drugs ring.
Robocop 2 is awesome and probably one of the best movie sequels when you understand it's an unnecessary sequel with the objective of satirizing unnecessary sequels. It's easy to say you don't like it because Murphy's character development went backwards and he was stripped of the identity he regained by the end of the first movie, but I believe the movie wants you to think of this film's RoboCop not as a continuation of the Murphy we saw in Robocop 1 but rather as a living embodiment of the original film itself, fully contained & completed.
Consider that OCP spends the whole movie trying to profit from replacing and (failing to) improve Robocop, then after he gets junked people uninvolved with his initial development put him back together & he ends up being not quite right due to a bunch of vapid corporate meddling, he has to get backed up to his original state before he's ready to fight another robot literally called "RoboCop 2" that has none of his soul and is a complete opposite. Surely this all sounds familiar to anybody that watches movies. And ironically Robocop 3 fulfills the message regarding unnecessary film sequels that 2 is trying to get across.

who else here feels the film would of had a better story had they just put Cane's mind into that robot body far sooner? Instead of wasting half of the film on a plotline that was resolved in the previous one which was Murphy regaining his humanity?
I always thought this was the best out of the first 3 movies.

I trully don't understand why they opted to change the iconic score of the original film to a nothing special one, while even the original trailer has the famous Poledouris theme.
Give thanks to Irvin Keshner and his long friendship with the composer Leonard Rosenman.
Also thanks Orion Pictures for not having contracts ready with Weller, Allen and Poledouris (amongs others) when needed, and asking Keshner to save the day, so he called his friend who accepted inmediately.
