  • excuse the bad preparation an splits. Not the best run and definitely can be improved. but thought i'd post it anyway, more specifically to talk about things worth noting for anyone else running this game.
    quitting out the game after saving skips deaths sequences makes for a great time save. having multiple windows of the game open pre-loaded saves a bit more time as it skips sitting through the unity and developer intros, since you have to do it a max of 3 times. a 4th time near the end for safety strat for full health since it's easier to tank all the damage you May get during the last gauntlet run at the end. found it's easier to hug walls and weave to avoid getting barfed on. could probably skip saving providing you dont take much damage on the siren or roaches in the tunnel or the drop into the sewer (which the drop damage can be avoided)
    Using a controller as well as Keyboard, Holding forward on both during the beginning Dog walk and Going through tunnels allows you to go running speed Allowing great deal of time saved. (thanks to runner

    There is a pretty consistent strat for a quick 2 cycle. although Due to much tampering with, there is a way you could possibly 1 cycle the giant siren (the thing you crush the door with). takes exactly 14 hits with the sledgehammer. an there seems to be a glitch you can do with timing by pressing M or I twice to during/after the swing animation and either clicking/holding left click. that'll cause a double hit or faster fire rate. i can get it most times but not consistent enough to use yet, maybe with practice. since you can get off 7 hits (providing you start attacking before the door hits) when siren gets crushed by the door. each hit would have to be a double or fast enough to get all 14 hits, so it could be possible to get, but difficult.
    enemies also dont attack you when you are clipped into static objects like tables, chairs or walls etc. so when crushing the doll head in the lab just stand inside the Vice on the table and you should be alright. no need to shoot/kill
    i got pretty bad lockpick RNG, but it's worth tanking the damage in the early parts of the game with doorlocks to save time. with plenty of blessRNG
    there's also a jumping glitch you can do with the sledgehammer or shotgun. by attacking and pressing W at the same time. it appears to be inconsistent on when it happens and you cant use it to jump over the subway gates. finding a way past them would be a good time save. but you can use it to jump the wall in the subway tracks so you dont have to pick up the note on the couch to make the trains come alive to get past them. can be a small time save if you get it first try. but if not i wouldn't recommend until it's consistent
    it's not necessary and is time loss to pick up the ruger in the sewer since it'll spawn again in the trash can next to the train office key. the knife will also spawn in the pot after going into the lab, making bathroom obsolete. these items can be acquired on the way rather than going the distance. dont know about the shotgun yet.
    Holding E is the fastest way of going in & out through doors/ladders/picking up things. the trigger for these is rather large enough so you dont have to be right near doors/items to pick them up careful not to walk close enough near doors you dont want to go into when holding E Preemptively.
    going out of bounds doesn't seem to help at all since i've clipped out in 2 areas of the game by the only way you can, with enemies pushing you. each level is it's own and isn't linked to together as a whole map. an you can only open/use doors from inbounds. you cannot unlock/use them from the other side in oob. as far as i know.
    running backwards will cause sewer man to more likely turbo run in front of you and freezing for good positioning to hit & run an saves time.
    running as you pick up bleach allows for continuous running.
    overall i feel this is the way to achieve the best time in any% NG until more skips/optimization pops up. GG LIV Thanks again to trinawolfy for kicking off speedruns for this game.

    There are some really good optimizations in this run. My favorites were:
    * exiting and re-entering the room to skip the screaming floaty + train arriving sequence
    * alt-f4'ing out of the game to skip the bleach death + shoggoth
    * entering and exiting the save room to make the lab crawlies fuck off
    It's a shame I didn't watch it before doing my latest attempt; I think I could have gotten a sub-1-hour with those. I also found out about the running backwards to make sewer man appear behind you and the bleach runner glitch by accident.
    Here's some more:
    * if you hold Left Stick up on a controller while simultaneously pressing W on a keyboard, you can run through crawlspaces.
    * You can ignore the insect monster in all parts of the mines. you did this in the later parts, so I'm actually not sure why you shot him down in the first room.
    I don't know how you made the fences disappear in the living train room. I somehow made one of them disappear in one of my failed runs. No idea how it happened.

      yeah i mentioned & credited you about the controller and keyboard glitch in the description. as for shooting the monster in the mine, that was out of habit lol. an yeah idk how i made the fences disappear. kinda like how i made the monsters disappear 1 time in the lab hallway after crushing the doll head. haven't been able to recreate it ever since : /

      As for the fences, the train monsters can actually break through them to get to you, so I'm guessing they just happened to touch the fences in this run.

      @@Wesley626 Ah. So that's how. Exploiting that must be a matter of finding a balance between lingering just long enough for the train to chase you through the fence without losing time over it.

      @@Wesley626 yeah but the trains also hadn't spawned in as well on the way back, so it was defs a glitch of some kind

    I love this speedrun a lot but what happened to the sound at around 18:58? It goes out for a bunch of minutes and then comes back later.
    Really though, amazing speedrun!

      I mean their volume mixer is right in the shot, they muted the game for some reason.
