  • Possibly one of the saddest backstories for a race in Warcraft lore.
Transcript is too long to fit the description, so you can find it here: docs.google.co...

I just love draenei and broken love, "unbroken" is still one of my favorite stories. I love the savage orcs, but draenei lore is so much better because of it

Yeah...if i would almost possobly die to save some f"#%"! then when i survive and then get turned into a rwinkled old man looking motherf¤"#!% and then get discriminated by the same people i fought for, i would feel damn angry and probably a bit vengeful. Good video as always due.

Ja. It is annoying to see the Horde be the bad guys again. Why couldn't it be the Alliance who were the major asses for once? Se the Alliance burn down Thunder Bluff. It would make me more happy to se some nuance in WOW nowadays.

Broken should join the Horde, but they won’t.

I liked unbroken, but prefer the explanation of broken being the result of prolonged exposure to fel energies pervading outland. The red mist explanation doesn't work simply because if the broken were limited to only those who survived the siege of shattrath (an exceptionally small number considering it was a suicide mission) does not mesh well with the in-game reality of there being numerous full clans of broken and further lost ones. It is even possible to argue that the broken and lostones together may even outnumber the unaffected draenei considering their many holdings in outland and even azeroth and the fact that it seems that they can marshal a decently threatening military.

I think it's a combination of both. But the Red Mist was the first cause of them because at the time Dreanor was whole and not tainted by fel energies. Then after the first war which resulted in the outlands, more started to mutate. With those under the Naruu protection somehow protected.

I think the reason why the Broken can't call upon the light is explained by the fact that they face constant struggle for sanity. The Light requires its user to be absolutely 100% certain that what they do is for the good, so the Scarlet Crusade members can do that, but the Broken just can't be sure in anything anymore - their mind is broken. And thus they can't call upon the light.

The Broken don't have hooves? I didn't know that.

I honestly didn't realize at first myself. Then I read the Unbroken short story, where they mention how their hooves had been falling off among their other mutations; I then looked at a Broken model in-game and, lo and behold, no hooves.

They fall off? Damn. I hope their hooves aren't the only things that fall off.
      If you catch my drift.

Funny that someone else on this video asked a question on a similar topic.

Their fingers also merge. Notice the hands on regular Draenei is four fingers and a thumb, where the broken have two fingers and a thumb.

Are broken and lost ones sterile?

    • @Teeironor
      @Teeironor  6 років тому +5

It's never been stated one way or another, but probably not. Other fel-corrupted races (such as orcs and blood elves; or, for a more extreme example, female man'ari eredar have been stated to be extremely disposed towards mating in Rise of the Horde) are not sterile, though they pass on their mutations to their children.
And broken children do exist in the lore, though it's unknown if they are born after the war with the orcs or before. We haven't seen lost ones children before, but I imagine they exist as well.

I would say physically no, but out of principle yes. From a moral stand point I doubt that the zaelous and principled draenei would spread such a curse to their offspring and create a generation of cursed aberrations. but from a more base level Considering they were once healthy draenei they would not find themselves of other broken particularly attractive

I don't like the retcon of Eredar Draenei. I'd rather like them to keep old lore of Draenei being native specie of Draenor, made more sense to be honest.

Should have been Broken instead of the Army of Light. Then we would have Broken Draenei rogues and warlocks
