Mr. Douds..oh my gosh what a heartfelt, moving, and just wonderful summation of The Gettysburg Address and what it meant and still means to this country. Heartfelt and emotional and true words. You brought tears to my eyes.

Of all the videos for 158, this was the most powerful. From the story of the common soldiers as told by Carol and Ann to Col. Doud’s incredible summary of the Gettysburg Address, this is the video that should resonate with us all. Thank you!

The 158th series is what each American (and the world) needs to watch; and, understand why this commemoration is so important to the present and our future. All presenters were excellent; however,

I have been to Gettysburg virtually every year for the past 20 years or so, including year 150. I walked Pickett's Charge almost every time, and took my grand-daughter, Danica (Peas and Carrots), to see the Gettysburg Address and town parade (in November). Last year we could not of because of Covid, and this year on UA-cam. Thanks, American Battlefield Trust!!

As an only child, the Edward Heath story touched my heart. Again, you have accomplished your objectives with this video to humanize the experience of the Battle of Gettysburg, so that we can learn from this battle and the Civil War in general, so that it will never happen again.

Sir, I would like to say that the stirring words of Doug Douds were as elegant, heart warming and sincere as the Gettysburg Address. A true and inspiring tribute to democracy, the memories of those who fell, and the righteous stand for liberty. I have not heard such passion in an individual in a very long time. The words of Lincoln still ring true, and although one or two representatives of government have forgotten traditions of short speeches, and have dishonored the dead, by trying to destroy the very foundations of democracy, Lincoln and his words will always live on.

All civil war dead deserve our respect. Mercy and forgiveness are greater than canceling out those you disagree with. My hope is that those who think tearing down statues somehow cleanses us never get their hands on Gettysburg.

I have been to this cemetery, and have walked and looked at all the names of all the soldiers as well as the unknowns of the Civil war. These names should never be forgotten. And I feel the same way about the CSA soldiers should never be forgotten. Thanks about sharing about Heath.

Im sure some people don't realize how difficult it is to put these videos together with limited time and so many aspects of the battle to cover. Every one of you does a brilliant job of speaking succinctly and passionately and keeping us all interested. Not just anybody can pull it off and you ALL do just that. (While walking no less!) Keep up the great work. 👍🖖

This presentation is outstanding! It really touched my heart and brought me to tears. Now it is clear to me why I I was drawn to visit Gettysburg last year and just a few days ago: to remind me what our nation stands for and still aspires to! And also to remember the price many have paid to preserve our great nation. Gettysburg has such a special place in my heart -even more so, with everything that is occurring in our nation. It is a wonderful place to pay respect, feel deep appreciation for our country and those who have sacrificed so much for if, to think, and to pray for the preservation of our nation as it was conceived. There is an unusual beauty to the land. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the great and much- needed work you are doing! ❤️🇺🇸
