I think it’s time to stop go crazy anything about MARVEL and take rest our beloved MARVEL
This video was so much FUN!😂
Marry me Jessica
Studios = film
Television = episodic TV
Animation = animated TV
Spotlight = “6 part movie” binge Tv
Special presentation = made for TV movie
This makes sense and will be budgeted accordingly because they are all different contracts for paying the crew with this setup.
Yeaaah this is still confusing and making things so much more difficult than it needs to be. Just have Movies, Television, and Animation simple
Sounds about right
@@Nytellem That's what this is. Not really difficult at all...
Lol I'm still confused
Special Presentations deserve a comeback!!!
😊 I think they’re going to retroactively put special presentations under spotlight. So werewolf by night would definitely be a spotlight because it would be like a one shot that is one shot it’s done and done if they want to do another night they can it has nothing to do with the continuity of what are business established.
@@francisco_m7849 Spotlight is grounded
No. It’s too much to handle.
Part of me agrees, but sadly that would make way to much content every year, they’re in a good grove now 3 marvel animation projects per year, 3 marvel television shows per year and 3-4 marvel studios films per year is perfect at least to finish out the multiverse saga
The special presentations were great.
No they’re not splitting anything. I get why this is confusing for so many fans but it’s literally just an internal brand so they know where Fiege’s domain is vs Windebaum etc.
They pretty much are. Street level then world threat level
The same rinse and repeat characters will get movies while, lesser but important (ex: the Young Avengers) go tv, spotlight likely for street level (ex: defenders)
You guys’ friendship and ability to play off one another delights me so much. Anytime I see yall do a vid together - whether it’s content I care about or not - I’m watching!
26:34 I agree Eternals 2 is 100% dead. But Shang-Chi 2 has been getting multiple updates about filming and Simu Liu still confirms it happening. I doubt that’s dead.
I wouldn't be surprised if they pretty much ignored Eternals from here on out.
It makes me sad. Sure, economically it was a dud - but I really loved the journey it took us on.
I agree shang chi isn't dead but, they haven't started production or found a slot for it yet so it'll be awhile. Atleast late 2026 if they rush it.
There is like 1 million times more chemistry when you're together in the same screen. lmao
I just think Spotlight & Special Pres will just be sub categories of Marvel TV.
THIS.... I NEED MORE THIS. Eric and Jessica in the same room. Full set and spinny chair for Jessica.
"JC & EV," 😅 I'm here for it too
I’m going to tell you that I screamed at the JC/EV intro 😂😂😂😂😂
Simu Liu literally just said Shang Chi 2 was still happening
Where
I also thought they confirmed it was still happening.
@@gabrielruiz219 he was on late night with Jimmy Fallon a few weeks back and confirmed it was still happening. Plus Dustin Daniel Cretton literally left Kang Dynasty to work on Shang Chi 2.
I hope it happens
He said it on Fallon like a week ago. And I think others have also confirmed it's happening.
I’ve been a part of a lot of company restructures, and that’s what this feels like. I think that either this is a way to help Feige focus on just the big projects by owning Marvel studios only, or it’s a way to give some of his lieutenants promotions to own some things without risking another Phase 4. Maybe both.
Wasnt Werewolf by Night a Marvel Spotlight production?
Spotlight is grounded
I think it was a Marvel Studios Special Presentation same as the Guardians of the Galaxy Xmas Special.
Yes.. who said it wasn't
@@SirsasthNigam."Grounded" is a vaige and lame descriptor.. well labels in general amiright
No it was just a special presentation
It's not a bad idea for them. They only do this because they want more people to watch their films
Doesn't everyone
2020-2023 mcu movies are like chores. you need to watch the tv series to understand then
Still gonna be confused as to who some characters are come Secret Wars if you don't watch the rest of the material.
@SonOfTheChinChin well yeah cause that's a lot of characters and movies to watch. Could you imagine trying to force the important groups like the Midnight Sons into Avengers movies without another avenue to introduce all of these characters. We'd have hundreds of movies which are are 2:30/3 hours as is.
Wether people like it or not stuff like Blade and the Young Avengers are coming and I welcome that more than more X-Men/F4/Avengers/Spidey. Those are are all great properties but they grow tiresome.
Unless Blade and Spidey team up to fight say Morbius, then I welcome that!
❤❤
I think they’re overthinking this. I basically thought os Spotlight as one offs. Here’s the story, it’s not necessarily going anywhere from here.
10:00
Marvel Spotlight seems to me like it's featured heroes that won't appear in any main IP from Marvel Studios
Marvel Television seems to be shows that are in continuity with the main Marvel Studios like Loki, Wanda vision, etc...
I think MoonKnight would be under Marvel Spotlight since it's not connected to any Main IP.
Can Marvel Spotlight be the "artistic/indie" imprint?
All I really want is the Special Presentations to do weird one-offs like: Punisher vs Santa Claus, Howard the Duck, Devil Dinosaur, etc.
Then, sprinkle Blade into the shows until there's a compelling script for a feature.
Got to say I would love a Cable series
Before even watching just wanna say in my opinion “spotlight” should still be canon to the “main” MCU but should also be able to stand on its own with no require reading. Like Moon Knight did. It’s still “part” of marvel tv just tells you it’s not interconnected (yet).
I don’t think Marvel Spotlight is going to be its own major category. It’s a subcategory within the umbrella of Marvel Television (just like Marvel Special Presentations)
THANKS for this, Vossicka!!!! It's wacky when I see you two (and the Galifrey Gals) physically together! :)
Interesting that there was no mention of the "Special Presentation" designation that WEREWOLF BY NIGHT fell under in the four named tiers.
Because they stopped doing that
@@elisitbon4672 Gaurdians Xmas was one.
@@awesumtoast97 and they’ve since stopped
Spotlight/special presentation seem to be for non-comic book readers, so if they introduce a small character into any series, they are using those platforms to explain and give back ground to those characters
Favorite war def has to be the Late Night Wars.
Okay, let's not overthink this. Marvel is going to simply put lesser characters or one's that don't need to be a featured character in the movies over in either Marvel Spotlight (which was also a comic series that gave lesser character a one shot series or intro'd characters that Marvel wanted to see if they catch on with fans) or Marvel Television, and a on-going episodic series on Television and of course the big stories then it's Marvel Studios. They can all exist within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe but not necessarily have to be addressed or used in the larger MCU.
Allen Cummings was a perfect Nightcrawler. It would be amazing to see him in the role again.
I would love a television series of the team called Witches, it has Jennifer Kale,Topaz and Satana. This team was created by Doctor Strange who was the sorcerer supreme in the comics but as Wong is now the sorcerer supreme in the mcu he can create it and i do hope they bring the demon Hellphyr into the series.
Loved seeing you both sharing the screen irl! All of u guys at Rockstars have great chemistry, love the work, keep it up!
You guys make such a great team! So knowledgeable and super fun to watch, especially when you go completely bonkers LOL
love your videos guys i’m a huge fan!!!!
They are going to need a previously on segment in the movies
Not really. They're keeping it street crime vs world threats so it'll be like before. Endgame didn't have a infinity war recap and infinity war didn't have a civil war recap.
Fun episode and you were both awesome
this is smart, because there was only two mathematical dimensions to the story prior: forward/back on a timeline, and up/down a characters story tree. Essentially they're adding width to the connectivity and story, so now Animation doesn't need to connect to TV or Studios, and Spotlight characters aren't mainstays in a film somewhere that won't make sense without a subscription service. That toward/away dimension adding a respective level of relevance is a really creative solution and I'm excited to see it pan out. Fingers crossed!!!
such a good episode! loved seeing both of you together
thanks
I think that the concept art is from the blade game
There's also short films, like the item 47
I was watching Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness and I saw the axis of time and space which could lead to the X-men 97 I think.
I love the chemistry with the two of you in the same space!
The only tie-in from Agents of Shield to MCU movies was the Helicarrier Fury rolled up in at the end of Age of Ultron. Its restoration was a one of many projects Coulson worked on in the background of season 2.
guys there’s no CHANCE Shung Chi 2 is dead. Simu Lu said they’re shooting it next year. Aren’t you suppose to know these things?
The JC/EV intro was hilarious 😂
Hey, this video is a win! The chemistry between you two is great. More of this, plz.
best episode ever. You 2 in studio together is great.
Love you two, great banter!
You need to absolutely keep doing videos together!! The energy was awesome in this one!! 😂❤
i think the difference between television and spotlight will be that spotlight will be more self contained stories and non-universe threats where as television and films will be what effect the entire planet or the universe as a whole.
it was fun seeing you both on the same screen!
I love seeing you two in the same blue dungeon at the same time!!
7:16
I think Marvel Spotlight is going to be where they test run characters that may not be well as known and see how they do in front of a Disney+ audience. Perhaps if they do really well, they can then choose to expand on those stories if their hits
These videos need more spinning!
As a San Francisco resident of 30+ years, I appreciated the SF digression LOL
See, Studios, Television and Animation are all self-explanatory. But the Spotlight and Special Presentation banners are what seem unnecessarily redundant, fold them both into Television.
It’s interesting to me that they aren’t just doing more to separate their projects by Saga (Infinity Saga, Defenders Saga, Multiverse Saga, etc.). You would think that would be the natural way to split it up to avoid having to do “homework” to understand the movie you’re watching.
As a Seattlite, I love when Jess mentions Seattle
With X-Men, imagine an anthology Mutant series where each episode is specifically for each Mutant
I think Spotlight is gonna be 1 season shows. Mainly to introduce a character & so some back story/expo
I love how you guys say i wouldn't watch that even though you have to watch absolutely everything because its your job
4:56 I love how his reference for episodic TV shows was BTVS & Charmed lol. Great shows that aren't talked about enuff imo.
@8:45 God damnit Rick and Morty. Now when anyone says Previously On, I can only think of that stupid Previous Leon character.
15:46 Erik’s face when Jessica asked “would you want it with Wolverine?” 😂😂he looks so concerned
No Wookieleaks!? 😢😢😢
I'm all for it
Our favorite duo!!!
Agent Carter
Agent of Shield and Cloak and Dagger needs to be made cannon
I was just thinking yesterday marvel needs to break down into smaller groups. I may be a mutant.
But they're all crossing over at some point so. Like we're gonna get shows about the X-Men for sure and then we'll have the movies.
X-Men, Spidey and F4 are essentially gonna lead the next saga
I feel like spotlight should be stuff from any of the non main Marvel universe, and that special presentation should be short films about characters that can be mentioned in the main Marvel universe (But that's just an Idea from the back of my head).
I thought Marvel Spotlight was a banner of Marvel Studios for TV-MA/R rated projects
That was my understanding as well. Though Daredevil Born Again is under the Marvel Television banner. In practice Marvel Spotlight seems to fall under the more experimental projects category. Though be a great move to anchor the Spotlight banner with Daredevil, IMHO.
I'm glad y'all are putting Jessica more in the spotlight ❤ .
In all honesty. I love that y'all are positive about just about everything. Everything can be enjoyed if you go into anything not with an expectation but instead go in hoping for a enjoyable experience on its own.
I think they would do well with having their movie style X-Men characters in the movies. They could do like Agents of Shield and do it for Professor X's school. That way they can handle some of the lower tier characters but still give them good stories.
Still think with all their rebranding, they can make some continuity plot to tie in everything that marvel has ever made. Timelines or multiverse or whatever, they could easily confirm that agents of shield happened, defenders happened, X-men happened, etc. Just in like multiverse explanations or timeline explanations idk. I just feel it’d be so easy
I would love to see mutant origin stories in the vein of the movie Jumper ( for nightcrawler type) or Push or Chronicle (for a telekinetic), also there’s a brilliant old comic, PsiForce did a brilliant though quick origin of someone discovering they had telepathy, stuff like that, more focused, would be awesome
Has there been a change in the video production?
Secret invasion should take place on another earth. Earth 892 or something like that. Problem solved. Bring it up in Avengers 5. Different Nick Fury!
Wasn’t Werewolf By Night a spotlight one too?
Terry Matalas should be working on Star Trek: Legacy. But since Paramount can't get their stuff together I am glad he is working on something.
I think the divide is smart and needed. I think it's a way for the Marvel pillars to bucketize the different content for the viewers and for the internal departments. As a viewer, prior to this, I was watching everything Marvel and getting upset with the content that was not related to my focus....now I'll only have to watch the content related to the multiverse, defenders and skip all the side content that's not related to my focus (spotlights). The internal departments will have an easier time knowing how much time and money they want/should spend on all these projects, because the content tanked compared to past years. This should allow Kevin to spend the time he needs on the projects he should be attached too, vs being divided amongst all projects and none getting the time they deserve. I look at the situation similar to Star Wars and Dave Filoni. Kevin Feige is the master mind of Marvel similar to how Dave is the mastermind to Star Wars. Disney pushed the past SW trilogies and they bombed for many reasons, so they backed off and let Dave have his time and he has been repairing things slowly but in a manner the viewers are excited for. I believe they are letting Kevin have a similar moment. At least I hope :)
And can't wait for the High Republic, been reading the books and comics to prep and I'm midway through Phase 2 now. Keep up the amazing work!
Heyyy J. C.😉
Almost nothing will change. It’s just a branding thing. The most important thing to take away from it is it’s all still a shared world, still connected in one form or another
I don't think it's over for the Eternals yet because the MCU/Marvel Animation still has The God Squad to come with Nightmare as a villain
Jessica gurl you're looking amazing!
The Prince was hilarious!! I wish it could get another season!
26:18 regarding Shang Chi… I would take that risk to give the film another shot. I feel like every fan I talk about it with has nothing but good things to say. I would risk it again for a post pandemic box office and if it doesn’t perform again then no third.
I would be fine if we got X-Men 97 style of cameos in the MCU movies going forward.
Spotlight seems to be the one off or a bit more obscure with regard to characters. Something that can be more of a risk without the need for whole 10 part seasons. A bit more fanboy focused
Really random but I’m a massive agents of shield fan and I’m still convinced that Daisy Johnson and coulson will come back in the MCU same as Mack. I know it might seem like a real crazy shout but watch this space lol
Hey what category would Secret War be? A category unto itself...
JC FOR THE PEOPLE 🫡🙏🏾
Idea: for the "origin" content for xmen, they could do a Star Wars Tales approach where it's a short-form episodic series that explains snippets of important things in their lives, like when Wolverine murdered his father in the 1800's. Just a thought tho
Shang Chi 2 is happening. Simu said just this last week its happening. Yes, hes an actor. Not Marvel. But I do think one of the producers also said it is happening in the last month.
I want more Jessica Jones 😍
Wasn't "Werewolf By Night" a Marvel Spotlight Presentation?
I feel like “spotlight” isn’t really needed, just have it all as Marvel Television.
EV and JC! True heroes!
Does that mean Secret Invasion becomes a Spotlight??
i think this is purely done to make the series they’re own story and not connect them to the movies unless they wanna use of the more popular characters
I think for the separate xmen miniseries you guys talked about would be better as one solid xmen miniseries that shows off all of the main team members origins. Have 1-2 episodes per character, maybe even 2 characters per episode if its more of a side character.
Not a bad idea until they can get something rolling.
Getting what’s basically a huge crossover event to work AND come to a satisfying conclusion for 10 years was kind of a miracle.
Yeah i think it was a once in a lifetime achievement that won't happen again just like Star Wars is still chasing the magic of the original 3 movies and hasn't pulled it off in over 40 years. Certain moments can't be duplicated.
