Wow Chamelos really does not mess around with that cloak in the older games. In Rise you can pretty much still see him at all times, here you can only catch glimpses.
It's a nightmare to hunt him down, the one dragon I didn't want to fight the most, although I had to. I had main tigrex armor set just to track him down by looking at the map

Finally... been waiting for this... I moved to the high rank quests a while back ... slayed more than 15-20 nargacugas,10 hr tigrex and countless Kushala daoras ... Even farmed the whole Lao shang set in a single day... but this guy ... I’ve only fought him once... I don’t know why but I feel queasy, every time i decide on fighting him, I either don’t play against him or I abandon the quest halfway, even if I am very close to killing him... I mean... WHY!!!😨😨

Man, I remember this one from when I first played MHFU. I got stuck in Tri and somehow thought it was a good idea to buy MHFU on heavy discount instead. Tigrex took me months, but Chameleos... oh boy. Not sure I ever actually beat this version of it, because my biggest problem in MHFU (besides some of the hitboxes) was losing the monsters always. Even now, replaying it partly thanks to these videos, fighting a Kutku sometimes takes thrice as long because I can't find it. And Chammy here just amplifies that. I think I'll heed the advice and actually use Autotracker. I scoffed at the skill before because I know my monster spawns in 3U and 4U, but it really does help, if only to learn the spawns initially.

I remember fighting this guy the first time. I had to change from Hammer to HH to hit his face as I thought it was the only way. . . Till I tried Gunlance! Using GL shooting and stabbing his sides proved to be BROKEN XD and now he's my second fave Monster in MHFU
You know what would be annoying? Fighting John Cena as an elder dragon Seriously tho I managed to kill some elder dragons with just a raw bow and coatings but this thing... It annoys me to no end

Man I just hunted this thing in MH4U yesterday, and I'm convinced that out of every monster returning from a previous generation in that game the Chameleos got altered the most. The one in this video is like a whole different creature in everything but appearance & base skeleton.
8:03 haha yes, I always do that to "see" where he's at XD. One time, I spent 20 minutes looking for him. I was a bit frustrated and slashed around randomly, and it hits haha.
I think when you got him downed,you should keep attacking his backleg to give him the trippin hell.Ik his head is the weakest spot but his backleg will actually more effective

#3: 🙂 #5: In Chameleos' case he will set you up to get hit again, if you get hit multiple times by another monster it's mostly pretty situational I think. this lizard destroyed me even with HR ceanataur set and a weapon with white sharpness. i thought i wown't bounce but its still the same. and once it hits me with the gas that decreases your stamina i immediately quit. cause i don't like bringing well-done stakes.
Chameleos is much more armored on the; Wings, (thicc) tail, arms and back, except the belly and back legs. This elder dragon is supposed to be easier then the other's like it's always stationary.
nice tips, atleast now i know to not bring my book in this fight. probably use black katana mk.II since it has blue sharpness and also i wear garuga armor with expert and hearing decoration.
Hey, thanks 😄 Good luck! A decent strategy to try is using fire weapons and just focusing on his back legs, that won't ever break his horn, since you'd need a dragon weapon and that strategy just hits his legs, but it's pretty effective and most people probably do that 😅 Thanks for watching!

So this is what Chameleos used to be like. Starting in 4U, he lost his stamina-draining breath and defense-decreasing spit, and his theme played for the whole fight.
Yep, they reworked him for mh4u Part of why I like making these videos is that it can be interesting to see how the fights used to work, most monsters get tweaked or even reworked in future games.

I beat this guy on the first try ever and thought he was easy. I even cut his tail off. Boy. I underestimated him big time when it came to farming his armor.
I've been postponing this fight until I heard something in the back of my mind saying "do it pussy no balls" so anyways I grabbed my lao Shan LS and as always I'm over prepared for this
lmao that's great!! Go in with more than you think you'll need, and you'll be less likely to run out of things if it goes horribly wrong. I don't always bring 10 honey and some combo books so I can have 20 mega potions, but it's never a bad idea.

Among all the Elder Dragons I fought (Kushala, Luna, Teo, Kirin) this is the only Elder Dragon that lasted long enough to retreat because most of my attacks using my Dragon element Dual Swords got deflected. Hopefully I get to kill it the next time around.

I think so, I did a very simple test for poison in the swamp, once with no armor and once with whatever I had, and I seemed to take less damage, though it wasn't by a lot so it could be wrong lol
Ah i remember figthing him with my friends and whenever he steal stuff i always got the bad luck like he stole 2 lifepowders from me in one hunt and after that a FREAKIN MaxPotion

How do I break its horn? I was only able to cut its tail after slashing at it nonstop(with my bouncing slash technique), so I didn't have time to break its horn before it dies. I was hoping you could show me how but I didn't see its horn breaking at the end of the video even after you slashed at it most of the time. I need its horn to upgrade a blade of mine and now I'm having second thoughts if it's even possible to break its horn with my equipment.
Well, keep in mind 1. you need dragon element to break the horn (I saw your other comment about using Black Scythe, that's fine.) and 2. the tail can only be cut when it's max hp is below 30%, so... if you want both, you could focus mainly on the horn and hit the tail every now and then, but try and break the horn first, and then focus on the tail until it comes off. I don't know how much damage the horn needs before it breaks :/
I remeber first time i fought chameleos in MH4U, when i was i dual blades main and thought to my self I know let's try to kill him with a switch axe for fun and then I killed him under 15 minutes and still to day I don't know how I did that because I have never used an switch axe before and also he was G-rank. but enough of that great video man you are killing it, literally

I got wombo combo'd but I managed. I killed him in the second round. It's pretty hard because of the poison gas. Btw I use the Black Blade(GS) for dragon element and I charge attack his head when he is spitting gas.

Sees the Chameleos. *"My hatred is immeasurable, and my day is ruined."* Honestly, hate the guy. I'm a melee main, and the armor the bastard has pisses me off. And the tail. God, the tail... Major respect for people that hunts this thing with Bow and Dual Blade. You think Congolala was bad? This thing's breath is so disgusting you ends up gasping for air like crazy. As long as you got Large Bomb/Large Bomb+/Smoke Bomb, Invisibility is no worry. Smoke, Sneak, Plant. Then blow the thing to kingdom come.
@@johnlexjapethsison316 some people got a "Bane" of their own. And I'm not exactly the best Hunter around. I use basic stuff like a filthy casual. You got a big sword. You got monsters. Big Sword + Monsters = A Fight I fight everything the same way. Hit, dodge, dodge, sheath, run. Rinse and repeat. Sure, I'd won in a snap with LBG/HBG/Bow. But I'm not that type of person. I stick to things I like. If I had a hard time using that thing against that monster, I find other tactics that works. Therefore, the strategy I mention at the top. I don't do easy. I've done "easy" before, and I ends up as a fucktard. Now, I'm starting over as a new person.
Guys two things one who wanna add me on ps4 and join me to fight Fatalis Second I’m stuck on my urgent quest to kill tigrex I use sword and shield and he just won’t die but I die horribly sometimes I even barley get there and I get combo
Two tips 1. Use armor skills that increases your def and/or has auto guard. Use the right buff for the right situation (like using power/armor seeds because demondrug/armorskin doesn't stack with felyne kitchen buffs) 2. Try other weapons. This isn't MHW where you stay loyal on one weapon only and treat it as a religion. There are a bunch of weapons that can suit your playstyle any day. Try training (or watch HeadHunter's weapon guides) and choose the weapon that suits your aggression level. Source: Former SnS user, now a multiclass, switching from hammers, longswords, gun lances, dual blades, and bows
BTW good luck with your fatalis quest! I don't have a ps4 but I've heard the big black dragon is coming back to MHW, but jn the meantime, I'll try to kill him in MHFU nevertheless
Use different strategy if you're the type to stick to one weapon like me. Hit, hit, hit, roll, roll, sheath, run. Fight close to the edge of the area gate. Gives out combo, run away, heal up, then fight back. Have you change your armor set yet? Or upgrade it? That might be your weakness. *BOMBS. Shitton of Bombs.*

Since I'm not able to farm Kirin Thunder tail for the Eager Cleaver. Is the Chameleos possible of fighting with gunner class? Whether bow/lbg/hbg. And which ammo is the most effective?
It'd actually be better to use the Wyvern Blade 'Blood' I just didn't notice that weapon was available around this time 😅😅😅 Gunning might be a bit annoying, you're going to want to use Normal Lv2 and Lv3 probably, bring Crag/Clust shots. Pierce would be good..... but everywhere except his head and legs have a hitzone of 15. Use fire ammo especially and you can bring thunder ammo if your gun uses it. Since it's an elder dragon, I'd recommend bringing materials for more combining, and getting the Bullet Limit (Shot Mix) skill, which you can get on any armor set with 5 open slots by putting in 5 armory slots, which are decently easy to make. I've never hunted Chameleos with a bow/bowgun, so, YMMV, it may take a couple of hunts. Good luck!
@@HeadHunter455 I just tried to hunt the Lunastra with Blue Blade Bow (Ceanataur's Bow) which kinda annoying since I forgot to bring matrial for combining more coat. It turned out a victory with 2 hours fighting (using emulator so reload state many times) But I've never though using ranged weapon for Elder Dragon would be less stressful. Also, thanks for the video of Kushala and Raths Hammer Hunting. I've farmed a lot of them effortlessly.
In my experience, you don't even need to hit the head constantly for chameleos. Heck, you don't even need to make it appear. Chameleos is really slow and doesn't move around that much most of the time. Its turns are also really predictable. If you just stick near its hind legs and just wail at them, you'd be safe most of the time (for the poison jump you'll just need to dont be to close to the hind legs).
I don't know if this works on Chameleos but when Elder Dragons (Daora, Teostra, Lunastra) are poisoned (with a poisoned knife or weapon with poison), I think they lose their main ability. Like for example if a Daora is poisoned, the Dragon Wind surrounding it will disappear, making it easier for hunters to attack him in close range, same with Teostra and Lunastra, the Dragon Fire surrounding them will disappear (tho it will comeback when the poison is off or when they are enraged.) So I think it will also work on Chameleos, wherein poisoning it will remove its invisibility until the poison wore off or when it is enraged.
The wiki says "Despite it using poison attacks itself, Chameleos can be poisoned. The poison deals damage and helps locate its head whilst invisible." So, while I haven't tested it myself, I feel like it doesn't interrupt the invisibility, it would make sense though since out of the main elder dragon trio this is the only one that can poison you.
Ngl, bow and bowguns work extremely well against this fcker.... The only problems would be the distance to fire what shot you have because of the spit attacks
In G rank, you will be cry out loud Chameleos: I'm fcking invisible Chameleos is hard to find and located another area in G rank, it's make me angry, until I find chameleos and slay him use Sword and Shield
@@kamidesu6414 actually not safe for light bowgun user because chemoleos are extremely invincible in g rank, he ramming you without no time, only heavy bowgun with shield attach actually good enough to survive and sword and shield, spear and gunlance actually good but it's make your mobility slower, I recommend you use psychic vision skill +15 which means best detect where chemoleos when you zooming map mode

It's worthwhile bringing psychoserums and flutes; serums to find the monster, flutes to bring it towards you. Autotracker is much stronger, though.

Chameleos don't want to fight, becuase it's an introvert, and it's one of my fave monster's in the MHFU.
I think when you got him downed,you should keep attacking his backleg to give him the trippin hell.Ik his head is the weakest spot but his backleg will actually more effective
Lol, Lance/GL can do that and I almost feel bad for Chameleos, but can't stop now cause it's trippin, LOL.

This elder dragon is challenging for melees im not joking,cant peneterate the damn skin.
The taill also will knockback you which also annoying,bring lotta poison,food and antidote cause it love to stole consumable items.
So to sums it up:

#5: In Chameleos' case he will set you up to get hit again, if you get hit multiple times by another monster it's mostly pretty situational I think. Chameleos is more consistent in hitting you as you get up from a previous attack.

this lizard destroyed me even with HR ceanataur set and a weapon with white sharpness. i thought i wown't bounce but its still the same. and once it hits me with the gas that decreases your stamina i immediately quit. cause i don't like bringing well-done stakes.
Chameleos is much more armored on the;
Wings, (thicc) tail, arms and back, except the belly and back legs.
This elder dragon is supposed to be easier then the other's like it's always stationary.

Good luck! A decent strategy to try is using fire weapons and just focusing on his back legs, that won't ever break his horn, since you'd need a dragon weapon and that strategy just hits his legs, but it's pretty effective and most people probably do that 😅

You can't break the horn without use of dragon element, so, I guess your cat had dragon element on its weapon lol

I like how ingame music never plays but when enraged it starts playing.
I think that's pretty cool too, makes it pretty atmospheric, and gives him a chance to run away without you knowing.
So this is what Chameleos used to be like. Starting in 4U, he lost his stamina-draining breath and defense-decreasing spit, and his theme played for the whole fight.

Part of why I like making these videos is that it can be interesting to see how the fights used to work, most monsters get tweaked or even reworked in future games.

Go in with more than you think you'll need, and you'll be less likely to run out of things if it goes horribly wrong. I don't always bring 10 honey and some combo books so I can have 20 mega potions, but it's never a bad idea.

Among all the Elder Dragons I fought (Kushala, Luna, Teo, Kirin) this is the only Elder Dragon that lasted long enough to retreat because most of my attacks using my Dragon element Dual Swords got deflected. Hopefully I get to kill it the next time around.

It should be fine. You need dragon element to break his horn, so, if you want to do that, you'll have to use something like the Black Scythe.

I think so, I did a very simple test for poison in the swamp, once with no armor and once with whatever I had, and I seemed to take less damage, though it wasn't by a lot so it could be wrong lol

How do I break its horn? I was only able to cut its tail after slashing at it nonstop(with my bouncing slash technique), so I didn't have time to break its horn before it dies. I was hoping you could show me how but I didn't see its horn breaking at the end of the video even after you slashed at it most of the time. I need its horn to upgrade a blade of mine and now I'm having second thoughts if it's even possible to break its horn with my equipment.
You need a weapon with a dragon element to break the horn.

Well, keep in mind 1. you need dragon element to break the horn
(I saw your other comment about using Black Scythe, that's fine.)
and 2. the tail can only be cut when it's max hp is below 30%, so... if you want both, you could focus mainly on the horn and hit the tail every now and then, but try and break the horn first, and then focus on the tail until it comes off.
I don't know how much damage the horn needs before it breaks :/
I remeber first time i fought chameleos in MH4U, when i was i dual blades main and thought to my self I know let's try to kill him with a switch axe for fun and then I killed him under 15 minutes and still to day I don't know how I did that because I have never used an switch axe before and also he was G-rank. but enough of that great video man you are killing it, literally

I got wombo combo'd but I managed. I killed him in the second round. It's pretty hard because of the poison gas. Btw I use the Black Blade(GS) for dragon element and I charge attack his head when he is spitting gas.

You got a big sword. You got monsters.
Big Sword + Monsters = A Fight
I fight everything the same way.
Hit, dodge, dodge, sheath, run.
Rinse and repeat.
Sure, I'd won in a snap with LBG/HBG/Bow. But I'm not that type of person.
I stick to things I like. If I had a hard time using that thing against that monster, I find other tactics that works.
Therefore, the strategy I mention at the top.
I don't do easy. I've done "easy" before, and I ends up as a fucktard. Now, I'm starting over as a new person.

Second I’m stuck on my urgent quest to kill tigrex I use sword and shield and he just won’t die but I die horribly sometimes I even barley get there and I get combo
Two tips
1. Use armor skills that increases your def and/or has auto guard. Use the right buff for the right situation (like using power/armor seeds because demondrug/armorskin doesn't stack with felyne kitchen buffs)
2. Try other weapons. This isn't MHW where you stay loyal on one weapon only and treat it as a religion. There are a bunch of weapons that can suit your playstyle any day. Try training (or watch HeadHunter's weapon guides) and choose the weapon that suits your aggression level.

BTW good luck with your fatalis quest! I don't have a ps4 but I've heard the big black dragon is coming back to MHW, but jn the meantime, I'll try to kill him in MHFU nevertheless
Use different strategy if you're the type to stick to one weapon like me.
Hit, hit, hit, roll, roll, sheath, run.
Fight close to the edge of the area gate. Gives out combo, run away, heal up, then fight back.
Have you change your armor set yet? Or upgrade it? That might be your weakness.

Since I'm not able to farm Kirin Thunder tail for the Eager Cleaver.
Is the Chameleos possible of fighting with gunner class? Whether bow/lbg/hbg. And which ammo is the most effective?
It'd actually be better to use the Wyvern Blade 'Blood' I just didn't notice that weapon was available around this time 😅😅😅
Gunning might be a bit annoying, you're going to want to use Normal Lv2 and Lv3 probably, bring Crag/Clust shots. Pierce would be good..... but everywhere except his head and legs have a hitzone of 15.
Use fire ammo especially and you can bring thunder ammo if your gun uses it. Since it's an elder dragon, I'd recommend bringing materials for more combining, and getting the Bullet Limit (Shot Mix) skill, which you can get on any armor set with 5 open slots by putting in 5 armory slots, which are decently easy to make.
I've never hunted Chameleos with a bow/bowgun, so, YMMV, it may take a couple of hunts. Good luck!
@@HeadHunter455 I just tried to hunt the Lunastra with Blue Blade Bow (Ceanataur's Bow) which kinda annoying since I forgot to bring matrial for combining more coat. It turned out a victory with 2 hours fighting (using emulator so reload state many times)
But I've never though using ranged weapon for Elder Dragon would be less stressful.
Also, thanks for the video of Kushala and Raths Hammer Hunting. I've farmed a lot of them effortlessly.
LS is a barbie's weapon.
In my experience, you don't even need to hit the head constantly for chameleos. Heck, you don't even need to make it appear. Chameleos is really slow and doesn't move around that much most of the time. Its turns are also really predictable. If you just stick near its hind legs and just wail at them, you'd be safe most of the time (for the poison jump you'll just need to dont be to close to the hind legs).

I don't know if this works on Chameleos but when Elder Dragons (Daora, Teostra, Lunastra) are poisoned (with a poisoned knife or weapon with poison), I think they lose their main ability. Like for example if a Daora is poisoned, the Dragon Wind surrounding it will disappear, making it easier for hunters to attack him in close range, same with Teostra and Lunastra, the Dragon Fire surrounding them will disappear (tho it will comeback when the poison is off or when they are enraged.) So I think it will also work on Chameleos, wherein poisoning it will remove its invisibility until the poison wore off or when it is enraged.
The wiki says
"Despite it using poison attacks itself, Chameleos can be poisoned. The poison deals damage and helps locate its head whilst invisible."
So, while I haven't tested it myself, I feel like it doesn't interrupt the invisibility, it would make sense though since out of the main elder dragon trio this is the only one that can poison you.

@@kamidesu6414 actually not safe for light bowgun user because chemoleos are extremely invincible in g rank, he ramming you without no time, only heavy bowgun with shield attach actually good enough to survive and sword and shield, spear and gunlance actually good but it's make your mobility slower, I recommend you use psychic vision skill +15 which means best detect where chemoleos when you zooming map mode
