I was deciding between these two last week! Ended up buying the Focals and I’m happy with them. But these two are close!
This is a perfect demonstration as far as UA-cam goes, couldn’t be better. About the speakers, the Focal are a little more defined on the low end and translate de mids a little better, the Kalis are great for the price but have a dip in the mid for sure
I think it's the other way around. The Kali's are well balanced, the Focal's have less depth on the bottom and the driver is pushing the mid too much making them boxy.
Focal wins in every department here. Kali isn't too bad in comparison but, the fact that it only seems to be most present in he mid section doesn't sit too well with me. I much prefer the focal throughout the frequency range. 💯 Nice work as usual ✅

Focal 8/10, Kali 6/10, Clear Focal Win. btw, Focal have +-6db Bass and +-3db Highshelf Filter, you can easy set your speaker more like the Kali Speaker... but with overall more Sound Quality :)
Should IN5 compare with 50 EVO as both are 5”? I’m considering both ..
There's any chance that you make a comparison with a 3 ways speakers? That 2 way never ever gonna sound right. All have the same issues down and up of the curve, Thanks.

Good test love this, other than the room sound I think the kali in8 cabinet is coloring the sound, sounds to me as if the cabinet has a resonant that it leave on the music played by them I do believe that if cabinet was better and the bass was a-bit more transient then they might have won, the focal to me represents the frequencies much better the low mids and high mids to me are truer the lows are solid the monitor doesn’t sound soft good transient response focal did a good job with this one Kali close very close fix that cabinet woke on the bass, that is why the original sounds closer on the focals, focal win. Do the evo twins next would love to hear them up against the Kali in8
I don't know how fair the comparison is considering that Kali is on 3 speakers. Low + middle + highs. Many complain that Kali has pronounced midrange vs. Focal. Well, it has a 3rd integrated speaker: medium speak. Focal does not have the midrange speaker and they are otherwise balanced. Of the 2, exactly Kali is the closest to the source. You can hear this clearly even on a smartphone. Monitors should be compared 3-way or 2-way.
Much close with the source is Kali! In every song. Naturally!
02:06 the mid section is the most important these loudspeakers (it comes from size, etc we don't wanna great low and top high), and the snare totally different:-). At the Kali i hear the cabinet more, but the focal little bit flat, dumped. Both have weaknesses and strengths.
Hey man , would you recommend kali for an All-genre budget monitor ?
The Focal is the "better" speaker. It seems more balanced across the spectrum, with better sound extension in the treble, but the Kali is a darn good speaker and $200 less ($700-ish) in the US. I think I'd like the Focal better, but for any midrange-heavy music the Kali feel more engaging.

Compared with the Kali's the Focals are definitely boxy. When the Focal's switch in it sounds like everything below 3-400hz has been turned down a touch and everything between 400 to 900hz has been boosted slightly.
I have the kali IN-5, trust me they sound beautiful in person! For real! 🤘highly recommended!!

@@tradehut2782 To be honest, I don’t really hear it, everything sounds balanced, my room is very treated as well. These aren’t fatiguing either, nice and smooth for long listening and mixing. ✊

Interestingly, the IN-5 sounds closer to the reference tracks (listening through JBL 305P MKII), but the Focals are just more revealing , especially in the high frequency region.
In person they’re amazing! Trust me!

Tilt those 15khz - 20khz on the Kali and I like em. Focal wins this for my taste... HF presence is important ( imo )

And by the way, I ended up with Eris 5XT and I could not regret more. Hiss, coil whine… and their service returned them exactly as they were. That being said, if I’m willing to spend between 500 and 1000€ for a pair, which pair of speakers would you recommend for pure desktop music listening + ps5, untreated small room (14m2) 80-90cm avg listening distance.
What I value more is the lack of hiss/electrical noise, trying to decide between iLoud MTM, Genelec 8020, Alpha 50 Evo, KH80 and many others that I can’t remember right now. Please help!

Regarding your question, all those are fantastic monitors, but I will give a nod towards iLoud MTM. Calibration makes a huge difference. Just remember that they sound best on low to medium levels.
I got the E5 1st gen. used for cheap recently. I concider them much better than the "improved" version. Also quite flat measured in a semi-treated studio. I honestly was impressed with their performance.

How are the Focal Alpha 65 EVO's compared to Kali Audio IN-8 2nd Wave?
Was trying to decide that for weeks, ended up ordering the focals.. they aren’t even here and I am already kinda regretting it, maybe I will send them back

I hate my lp6. Can't work properly on them. I have a rare, good hearing above most for my age according to the ear doctor. And the kali's sound so unmusical, they are super boring. Don't like them. Maybe your experience is different though! I would like some HEDD'S type 07 MK2 or presonus R65 V2, Focal, eve etc etc. These sound much more musical, detailed, open, honest etc

i thinl listening on focal 65 evo is nicer but - for analyse and cleaner listening decisions kali is easier
There is a lot of hype on the Kali line. Amir has tested these an the Focal Evo came out on top. The Kali’s frequency response starts to drop off after about 6K.
But is much close to the reference....naturally

I think these Focals are better suited for bass-heavy music (like EDM or Hiphop) while Kalis would produce a better mix in miss-heavy music (rock for example). I mostly work with rock so Kali IN-5 may be the choice for me.
KALI is ultimately better, only bass is soft and boomy. Have to use expensive subwoofer head with 2000w amp to overcome this.
This focal pair is rubbish. Midrange is dull, the only info comes from top range. It's like V EQ at its worst. Complete failure at vocal rendition since that.
