- Maurizio Pollini performs one of Frederic Chopin's most popular polonaises : the Polonaise no. 6 op. 53 in A flat major "Héroïque" (heroic).
A Deutsche Grammophon Recording
This is the best one of many other pianists' renditions I have heard.
The greatest version of all I`ve heaered. How wonderfully perfect it is,so did the piano.
fantastique interprétation !!!
can’t anyone just appreciate the effort it took to play this. i don’t care whether or not you’re a prodigy or a “piano genius”. it just annoys me how people are eithrr saying it’s too fast, or too slow. or it’s too sticky, no pedal, hammerfist play, you always need to find a way to find an imperfection. so just appreciate the music as it is. if you don’t like it, don’t listen.
it's those imperfections which make the performance original and artistic
Yes, people who are negative usually don’t have any videos of themselves playing or doing anything…
I don’t think their imperfections, more so interpretative choices. Pollini is a very articulate and clear type of pianist
This rendition is awesome. I've been playing this song consistently for over a year now and I still need to improve on certain parts. This piece is technically and physically demanding and it's nice to know that it can be played to perfection. Not by me..yet.
How is it going now?
Im about 90% the way there with this piece. I agree it’s physically demanding, it’s easy to start falling apart because your hand gets fatigued especially that relentless octave pattern in the middle. If you don’t relax your wrist your doomed! It’s an amazing piece and well worth the effort.
Bro says he's been playing this "song"
Genial Maurizio Pollini.
Maevelous! A heroic journey that proclaims the words : "Mar-ve-lous, I am Mar-ve-lous,"" without shame. A true hero deserves to recognize his exemplary virtue.
The section beginning at 4:58 came out of nowhere but it fits absolutely perfect and is my favorite part of this whole piece
Heard..Elena Kushnerova
Una de las obras más estimulantes y hermosas del inigualable polaco Chopin. Está en mi ADN y en mis mejores recuerdos de vida y de infancia. Gracias, Madre Música por inspirar estos benditos regalos.
The best interpretation of this piece known to me so far.
Best version I have heard!! I've been looking for one with this degree of... oomph! Makes the piece really interesting as opposed to just kind of light and fluffy
The best interpretacion I am love rubinstein intrepretacion but after listen this interpreacion I was fascinated to hear only the strength of this polonaise is magnificent
2:16 I LOVE THIS PART WHY IS IT ALWAYS STUCK IN MY HEAD THOUGH
Magnificent!
Excelente continuador del gran Dinu Lipatti. Sobriedad. Emoción contenida, sin alterar partitura. Por supuesto, cada interprete tiene su estilo. 🌸🍃🌸🍃🌸🍃🌸🍃🌸🍃🌸🍃
best of all recordings! Powerful, and carrying faithful in self of triumph
I want to play this so badly, but it's way above my skill level. *sigh* For now, I'll have to settle for listening to it. :)
PigPenguin91 I hope you are getting better at piano. This is one of those pieces that are like lifetime achievement for me if I were able to play them. hahaha. one can dream.
Thanks, Meg Usta! I am getting better at piano, slowly but surely. This piece is still too hard for me, but I'm confident that one day in not too terribly long, I'll be able to manage it. :)
When you record this, plz post on youtube! :)
I have been playing piano for 6 years and I am finally good enough to play it... well, struggle through it more like. But it's my lifetime piano goal to play this piece too. My piano teacher told me if I worked and practiced it everyday for six months I could learn it. It's a really long piece, memorizing everything is the difficult part for me right now. You will definitely be able to play it! Keep practicing!!!!!
@@MossyBallerina Progress update?
I'm tackling it at the moment! The ostinato octaves are a pain.
6:36 Is the thumbnail and man that first part of the page and big and is beautifully sounding.
2:45 - 2:50 the best part of this piece in my opinion. I wish this piece was more focused on this part but oh well
what ? it's just a modulation
@@louis9939 This modulation sounds better than the rest of the song. I wish this piece was more centered on this type of tone but its just my opinion
I've literally been listening to nothing but this piece for the last week.
Bravo brilliance music polonaise super
Magnifica esecuzione. Un Grande del pianoforte.
Best version .. finally
The way he flexes his hand size by not rolling the arpeggio chords... I'm dead
My favorite part 4:36 through 5:57.
Same here
@@CatkhosruShapurrjiFurabjiReally? We should be friends. Because I only know people to like the “exciting” parts.
@@alexreid2393 lol let's be friends
Those first 4 measures at 4:38 (especially 4:44-4:47) are my favorite section in the entire piece
Great work
Impressive! Notice the Precision of the octaves in the trio... Nevertheless, no virtuosity but poetry. Technique as servant of the content.
All my grand plans can dance and bow to this maestro. Welcome to our place for sleep-over and best braai.
Chopin is genius
Ottimo canale, contenuti molto interessanti e utili per l'insegnamento della storia della musica. Grazie
Excellent interpretation, love it. Still may be an even bigger fan of Martha Argerich's technically flawed but adorably lighthearted version.
I don't thing there's a competition between these two. Just two grand musicions of the highest class who make masterpieces. Okay, one of them is renowned as goddess, but that doen't change anything:)
What edition are these scores ? They seem more detailed than the ones i have...
Chopin
that is God
SURE !!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
My childhood memory thinks this 45 was green, or maybe it was red. I loved it.
In the next to the last measure, why doesn't anyone play the "broken" chords? Only moi???? 'Just say'n...
Good question.
This interpretation is upbeat.

Aaaahhhhhh.....That's all I have have to say
This part( 3:20 ) , as if one warrior explores
unknown wood.
ja, da hatte wir alle dran üben müssen...bravo
Voed my siel, dankie!!
Just because you can play a chord without rolling it doesn't mean you always should. A big part of this piece is the arppegiated chords. Pollini missed that entirely
Yes. I was wondering what edition he was using.
momento pierrot de animação
I thought I liked Pollini back in the 80s (Etudes, Preludes) until I got this LP. The playing is heavy throughout, ham-fisted and thoroughly unenjoyable...
uhhhh, no.
MrPaevo I agree
I agred
he has very big hands

Why not give more time to those grace notes? What's the rush?
Because he's Pollini and he can do it however the hell he likes.
ANY TIPS TO PLAY THE 7 FAST CHORDS AT THE START
Play slowly with a metronome and slowly work your way up to speed.
The fingering in this score is good just practice it slowly legato
I prefer his rendition of the same piece done in the 60s for EMI.
ფ. შოპენი - პოლონეზი N6
If Chopin had lived today he would have been EASILY TRANSFORMED TO NONCHOPIN together with Mozart among 'Romanian streetchildren
Indescriptible!Asi es La Gloria?
Godvvins brought me here #T-N-D
Trying to play this = major oof
How big is this guy's hands? I bet when he spreads butter on his sandwiches he just puts the whole block in.
That is not god. That is Chopin.
I am worried about this performance. It seems to me that the level of "rubato" has been determined by the level of difficulty. That is, slow down when the fingering is difficult, and speed up when it's easy! Rubato should be a matter of artistic taste, not technical difficulty! Sorry if I am being harsh. It's still a nice performance.
Give examples
The version in the Sims 2 base game is still better.

In my opinion, Seong-Jin Cho played this piece better. Watch either of his performances at the Chopin Competition. This one feels much choppier. It seems like he didn’t pedal enough for about a quarter of the piece and didn’t roll a bunch chords where he should have. Most importantly, his rhythm just feels too mechanical and choppy. Maybe I’m just used to the Cho interpretation, but I think that Pollini’s interpretation is just too choppy for my taste.
I agree with the choppiness but for me it gives it a new personality. Overall not my favorite interpretation neither.
Yes Seong is great!!!!!!
I feel like he played this without pedal 🤔
No
One thing: Evengy Kissin's version is better than
+Tal Dobrer As Consuela would say....Noooo, noooo, noooooo.
I disagree too. I prefer when the piece has feeling.
I agree, I like Kissin's version a lot better. It's powerful and Kissin makes good use of the pedal during the piece, everything flows together and doesn't sound so bland.

imo too much mathematicly ....
Is it Cho Pin?
Cho peen?
Is it coppin'?
Choppin'?
Might be choppin' in another language or older English used as a moniker.
Is this song about a rapist and an abuser attempting to play the hero and being mocked by Chopin?
I don't particularly like Arthur's playing of Chopin pieces. Not only that, it's like he thinks he is one with Chopin. Arthur's playing sounds.... broken.
I wish I could like this interpretation just majority do in the comments. This is by far one of the laziest ones I've heard, especially for Pollini and this piece. So many missed marks in this piece. It almost sounds broken as if he just learned how to play it and never practiced it. There is no cohesion with the music and the notes written.
What the hell ? 😂
IMHO, Kissin does it better
Pavle Nikacevic are you feeling right? Rubinstein and Blechacz only
