    I just visited South Sawyer and North Sawyer, spent a couple of nights in Tracy Arm Cove on my N63, all without owning an N63 or even leaving my desk chair. Thank you so much for your vids, especially of the boat and its systems.

    I really enjoy your videos. The photography is beautiful, and it's wonderful to see you living your dream.
    I was impressed with the audio of the whales exhaling. Whatever microphone you used for that was perfect.
    Speaking of audio...
    Jen's narration was excellent. You might think about having her be the main voice of your videos.
    One editing tip I'd like to offer...
    Try to avoid going from one shot to another that is nearly identical visually. For example, you do it with seals at 4:48 and with an aerial shot of the boat at 8:10
    One final comment is that if you fly your drone so close to a seal that you scare it off the ice, you've flown the drone too close.
    I hope you don't mind the critique. I offer it in a helpful spirit. I enjoy your videos a lot!

    As for the drone shots I am certain you will soon begin to see the signals from the wildlife that you are getting a little close and be less and less intrusive. I have used mine to move cattle from one pasture to another, it was definitely a learning experience, the first time we went a little fast but now it is much more controlled.

    Great video, beautiful scenery, really enjoyed it. The raw beauty of Alaska is breathtaking and the colors so vibrant compared to what many of us see in our daily city lives. Liked, and subscribed!

    at 5:48 you can see the line of exposed bedrock at the bottom of the slope where the glacier used to sit. You see the same thing in northern BC where the glaciers are receding quickly.

    When I went to see the Sawyer Glaciers the north was also far less icy than the south as well.

    well i just watched my first video on your channel, really nice .. going to watch more
    i hope there is more details about the boat and living on the boat
    stuff that others dont talk about such as the engine noise and other noise
    anyway great video

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 років тому

      muumoo111 - we will post a lot more content like that. Engine noise isn’t really a big deal. The engine room is extremely well insulated and you get used to the hum of the engine just kind of running in the background.
      Going into a head sea however, the forward cabin is extremely loud and uncomfortable because of all the motion and water noise so we sleep in the main saloon in the back on passages to weather.

      thank you, i just watched ep7 .. thats what i was looking for, keep them coming your doing great
      i am used to fast boat with outboard engines, i do tuna fishing in the gulf of oman .. when they are on you cant hear anything
      my dream is to get a trawler and do a trip to the Maldive around 7000km (going and coming back) so i am researching and reading .. i really want to live on a boat near some remote island in the Maldives .. i have had enough of big city's
      subbed and watched all your videos

    Your videos are the best. I’ve been reading about radars, and also learned the captains room is called a bridge. What countries will you be sailing to? Maybe wearing life jackets would help you in case you fall in the water. Do you ever catch fish? Do you wear seatbelts? How fast can boat go? Have you seen bears bears can swim

    As I am just beginning to edit some of my own video's it is interesting to see how you are improving quickly as you start this journey. What camera equipment do you use.

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 років тому +1

      John Brown - It's definitely constant learning. Shooting steady video from a moving boat is a challenge and I'm hoping to use a gimbal more often in the future to avoid messing around with stabilizing in post processing. We've got a couple of Olympus mirroless cameras that shoot video - the one we use most often is an OMD-EM1 II, but a lot of it is done with GoPros and even an iphone. The built in microphones on the GoPros are pretty bad and I often forget that its usually a bad idea to use the action cameras when we are doing a lot of talking...

    Nice drone stuff. What drone do you have?

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 років тому

      Stephen Payne - everything we’ve put up on UA-cam to date has been shot with a little DJI Spark. I just picked up a Mavic Air though which has a much better camera and a gimbal on the yaw axis so hoping to get some good footage with it soon.

    Hello there, what size is your tender(dinghy)? Ok, I see it is 110 sport. Would a 130 sport fit?

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 років тому

      vincent pryor - the 11 foot Whaler is already pushing the limits on size and weight. We had a 13 foot Boston Whaler Dauntless that was a lot more boat (50 hp vs 25, better hulk form) but it was just too long and heavy to lift and for on the boat deck.

    It's more animal friendly to keep more distance with your drone.

  • @letitbeknown6589

    I would have guessed that you needed a steel hull for those conditions. Do you have to worry about even small pieces of ice and isn't that everywhere? Can you travel at night? Just curious I have been dreaming of getting a boat about that size. Nice video, awesome location.

    • @Adippen
      @Adippen 6 років тому

      Nordhavns have steel hulls, which is why they are so well suited for these locations ;)

    • @Adippen
      @Adippen 6 років тому

      I stand corrected - apparently not all of them are steel.

    • @timhale4540
      @timhale4540 6 років тому

      None of the Nordhavns are steel.

    • @Adippen
      @Adippen 6 років тому

      Yup, I think I was confusing them with Bering

    • @UncleEarl97
      @UncleEarl97 6 років тому

      Nordhavns are fiberglass hulls, beautiful and durable boats! We had a fellow U.S. Power Squadron member who had something similar, a Selene 47 that was a beautiful boat, great long range cruiser just like this boat.

    Beautifully shot family travel video. Really. However, unfortunately, I was looking for a boating channel. I gave it 3 videos, and I'm seeing little info about the boat and boating. This may very well be your target...I don't know who your goal audience is and you may have it. But, in interest of feedback; the lack of details on the mechanics of operating your boat at sea, navigation anchoring, maintenance, trip planning, or virtually anything on moving that boat from one location to another, makes me unsubscribe. I'll check ins later to see if things change. Thanks though!

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 років тому +1

      Steve Holett - thanks for the feedback. Totally understand your interest in including more aspects of the details of maintaining and operating the boat. We do plan on including a lot more in the near future.
      I’ve actually got a bunch of recent maintenance/upgrades that we’ve done on the boat documented on video and we have some clips for a detailed “boat tour” shot.
      Hopefully I’ll have some time to pull all the boat stuff together in the very near future.

      Geez.. Aren't there ENOUGH UA-cam videos already on those very subjects? Why can't someone just document their travels how they wish and not feel the need to do things a certain way just to make some people happy?

    It seems clear that you are stressing out seals and their pups with your drone. I hope there is regulation soon to prohibit this. Drones are great. Stressing out the wildlife to get a cool shot is not.

    • @pierrebarousse323
      @pierrebarousse323 6 років тому +1

      I do agree there was stress but we'd rather need responsibility instead of regulation.
      But do you have any right to bring stress in an environnement you don't belong too ?

    • @jayadsilva67
      @jayadsilva67 6 років тому

      So? Stress is present always, and all living beings must endure that. If it was not so, life would be dull.

    • @richpickard1680
      @richpickard1680 5 років тому

      Oh knock it off !stress on all living things just make them stronger ,this family does a great job showing poor people like myself interesting things in the world that we could never afford .And those seals and pups will do just fine .why don’t you try to be a little more positive than negative about such a great family!

    Let's stop harassing wildlife, shall we? If you don't know how to act around our wildlife please go back to where you came from. You may want to refresh yourself with the Marine Mammal Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Act before you decide to venture out again. Be aware of your impacts.
