Thanks for showing clearly what to do with the rubber ring. Also for the dance beat.

Is it supposed to use sealant before the tyre inflation, right? (If so, is supposed to clean "old sealant"?)

Any advantage to this stem being taller than the one it replaced?

The stem being taller or shorter is really just a stylistic choice, it wont make any difference

In realizing that I don’t have that rubber ring. Must be why my valve is able to move up and down?

I bought my carbon wheel set from Trek. I asked them to set it up tubeless. My valve stems were continually leaking. I added sealant twice over my first year of riding. About a month ago I finally gave up to my frustrations and took my tires off cleaned them. I cleaned the valve stems too. Being my first time doing this I made sure that I put everything back in order that they had it. But… now I see that it could be wrong. They put the rubber o ring on the inside of the tire before pushing the stem through, not the outside as shown in this video. Which is correct?

The airtight seal occurs on the inside, using an external o-ring is optional. A rim is hollow so air leaking from around the valve could be coming from anywhere. You likely need to replace your rim tape

@@IZAAFRY it’s a Bontrager wheel set that comes with a snap in plastic insert with pre drilled holes for the valve stem that just snaps right into the rim.

@@rbrlbisland that would be a rim strip. If your brand new carbon wheel set was leaking after it got set up, your bike shop messed up and should rectify the problem for free. It’s always important to remember that a good tubeless setup should be able to hold air without sealant.

Would it be possible to use a track pump instead of an air compressor to reinflate the tire? Thanks

Will be nearly impossible to set the bead with a track pump. Compressor or co2 is needed. You might get lucky with a manual floor pump

You didn't show just how tight to make the lock ring.
I have an o-ring and it leaks like a sieve no matter how tight/loose I make it.
    Replaced stem, airtight again.

what is the reason to do this? I've seen people just reuse their tire stem when they do a tubeless conversion.

Could be cosmetic (if you want a certain color) or just general replacement if the valve stem gets damaged or worn down and you just want new ones. These specific valve stems are designed for tubeless so they will give the best seal.
