Man you are doing a great work! I wish they mention your project at the Hyprland wiki at some point!
Thank you…. Let’s see….
You are such an inspiration to my hyprland configuration journey, thank you.
The settings app is awesome! I hope in a future iteration we can over-write the defaults with a single button press :)
It’s funny because most of the really cool stuff isn’t necessarily hyprland settings, but waybar and wofi guis that launch scripts (often hyprctl). I’m currently working on a waybar arch(pacman), aur, and flatlak updater module that uses wofi to give a summary and confirmation buttons that focuses on performance (I’ll have to do some custom cacheing so that I’m not curling the aur for updates too often but still constantly checking if the updates have been applied). Seeing the work you’ve put in throughout the past year has been my main inspiration for it!
Thank you so much for your feedback. Your planned project sounds great.
Blown away by this! Superb
Thanks.
Very cool Stephan! I love window managers, and Arch in particular. I do like knowing where the config files are, but I have gotten to where I understand most layouts so I completely appreciate your efforts into adding apps to change these variables. It's nice just be able to quickly toggle and play around with ricing sometimes. There are so many hypr settings it's hard to remember them all. Excellent job on the new Hyprland app!! I'll update today and rice around a bit. Danke für das Hyprland ML4W extras! Time well spent.
Thank you so much for your feedback. I hope the new app will help many users.
Thanks to you I'm starting to have an understanding of Hyprland and Waybar.
Thank you very much.
I watched 5 of your vids back-to-back & just subscribed (something I don't often do). Your vids are straightforward & very educational. As a long time Linux user moving from Debian based distros to Arch (& Hyprland) you're making the transition much easier. Thank you for the assistance!
Thank you very much.
Every update there's just another amazing feat after another! Keep it going bro!
Thank you so much...
This is incredible. Thank you so much on your hard work here. Having the app to customise will make using hyprland so much fun to customise. Really appreciate your work you have done.
Thank you so much. I hope the app can help.
That’s really impressive! So feature-rich and polished!
Thank you.
excited for the next episode
Thank you so much.
I tried so many dotfiles. but none of them worked on my laptop. but this super easy to install dotfiles made my linux journey beautiful. thank you so much
Thanks for your feedback.
Very nicely done set of tools... thank you for making it open source and sharing your knowledge with the community!
Thank you so much.
This is by far the craziest and best config setup i have ever seen for any setup. Insane amounts of detail went into this and the custom settings app just blows my mind. cudos to you, geiler Reis
Thank you so much for your positive feedback. Have fun with it.
This is something incredible! A huge thank you.
Thanks.
That's the best rice of hyprland I've ever seen, that's really a great job 👌
Thank you.

Thanks.
I rather new here, been here since 2.6. But omg 2.9 is so good. Thank you so very much. It was never easier and nicer moving to arch!
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your amazing work ❤

Very nice done Stephan👌

Amazing work. I just got into ricing recently and I'm glad I came across your videos. Hit that subscribe immediately.

This is super cool.. Well done, bro. Keep up the good work!!!👏👏
Thank you. Will do.
@@mylinuxforwork Do you have a forum to submit issues? I'm facing problems with keybindings after I updated to the latest dotfiles today. I have to reboot the system whenever I change this conf. Even a simple Super+Return does not work after that

Nice work, thanks.
Thank you.
One word: BRAVO!
Thank you.
AMAZING!
👍
Good stuff!
I never understood why switching to a WM meant you had to start from atoms and build your own universe.
Exactly. Thank for your feedback.
😲Comparing it with ParsanthRangan's hyperdot dotfile, you made ml4w way much easier and minimalistic yet highly customisable and visually appealing.
Ml4w is definitely my first choice if i want choose between hyprland dotfile's, ParsanthRangan's hyperdot dotfile remaining second option.
And I won't touch any other hyprland dotfile.
Thanks for supporting me. And the hyprdots are great as well. Everyone has an own style.
Thanks!
Thank you so much.
GNOME is straightforward but a bit boring (to me, I get why ppl like it), KDE Plasma is so much fun but too distracting to me at least. As a total Hyprland noob you have provided me with a sweet-spot! I'm looking forward to learn more about linux for work. You have a new subscriber, thanks!!
Thank you so much for your feedback. Have fun with the dotfiles.
Great work! Not a fan of opacity for inactive windows, because i prefer my daily programs be clear to read as much as possible, but it would be great to add them as exception. Looking forward for more improvements!
This can be adjusted with the new Hyprland app. Just set inactive opacity to 10.
@@mylinuxforwork yeah, I get it, but I was thinking about to setting up certain programs not to follow global settings
Can't wait for your next video. I have installed EndeavourOS with KDE and I wqnt to install hyprland with it.
👍
Hi, working with your dotfiles on bare metal for about a week. I have some recommendations: generate the configuration using the hyprctl monitors command, taking the highest resolution from there. Also, add support for 2 monitors, with way to rearrange them(can be done with the new auto-positions introduced in v0.40 or woth integrating some gui, an option to apply wallpaper and theme to each individual screen would also be nice and also fix a bug when the nunber of workspace isn't synced between 2 monitors). Another option to add and remove keyboard configuration (layouts, us, de..) through the hyprland configuration app and a way to change your mouse sensitivity which should also be possible through the Hyprland configuration app as the default one just feels too fast. An optional QOL feature that I would appreciate is a plus button on the wallpaper selector, since it's not intuitive enough that you need to put your wallpapers in the wallpaper folder. And besides that, thank you for your work, it's amazing:)
Thanks for all your valuable ideas of improvement. All of them makes totally sense. Will check the possibility for upcoming versions.
This is so cool! Thank you for making and sharing this. I wonder how easy it is to package it for NixOS.
I hope to use Hyprland on NixOS when I get enough time to really get familiar with both. I feel like an environment like Hyprland, Qtile, etc, is a perfect match for a distro like NixOS.
Yeah. Give it a try.
Awesome, they are like the best dofiles I've ever, tried. A question tho, is the community allowed to make a fork, based on your system and re-use it? Thanks for keeping it up-to-date.
Sure. You can do with the dotfiles whatever you want. Have fun with it.
would be nice to see other applications / text editors change their theme based on the selected wallpapers.
Can you tell me an example?
Great job. I'll switch to Hyprland as soon as jetbrains products start working adequately in this environment.
What is the issue with jetbrains apps? Should work on Hyprland.

Did i miss a ready solution for showing current input language on the bar, or you don't think it's a useful feature? I can't live without it with multiple layouts available)
Thank you. It is behind the hardware menu. Hover over the related waybar module.
Incredible work. I'm writing this comment from Hyprland as we speak thanks to you! Quick question, is there a way to change the chromium icon to a firefox icon on the waybar?
You have to edit this file: gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/waybar/modules.json?ref_type=heads Search for // Browser Launcher and change the icon. Icons are coming from font-awesome. I know, managing the quick launch icons isn't perfect at the moment.
Very nice done Stephan ! May i ask what you use as an powermanager on a laptop? TLP, CPU-Freq or PPD?
Thanks.
Amazing update like always! One question, kinda having problems changing my file picker/chooser to the kde one. Ive tried everything listed in the Hyperland wiki but nothing works.
Thank you very much. Difficult to find out the issue on your system. It's an environment variable, right?
@@mylinuxforwork Ive tried creating and modifying the files /usr/share/xdg-desktop-portal/hyprland-portals.conf and ~/.config/xdg-desktop-portal/hyprland-portals.conf with:
[preferred]
default=hyprland;gtk
org.freedesktop.impl.portal.FileChooser=kde
But nothing works. I have installed KDE Plasma as a secondary desktop and there the file picker is Dolphin. How can i have a different file picker?
Hey man, you have done and extremely great job!! Thank you!!!
I want to ask you something that happened to me. I have both, hyprland and qtile. I have it in a virtual machine with qemu/kvm. hyprland goes super, but qtile after i did a system update a couple of weeks before it stop working. it shows just the bar on top with black screen (no wallpaper), and nothing works, no keyboard and neither the click of my touchpad, only you can see when the cursor is moving, and I have to force a reboot. If you please have any idea that of what to look for so to fix it I will be more grateful.
Thanks for your feedback. Do you have the 2.9 installed? And can you cd into dotfiles/qtile and run pythin config.py Maybe there are some error messages.
after trying my own dotfile from scratch, i decided to do a fresh install and try ml4w dotfiles, man, am i glad i did, amazing!!! two questions.. where do i add my keybindings? on the hyperland.conf? will they be reset on update? and what is the little lock icon on waybar for? i activate and deactivate but cant seem to see what it does.... again thanyou for this project.. AMAZING!!!
Thank you. Please create your own configuration variation for keybindings. Then you are safe on upcoming updates: gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/conf/README.md
Thank you for awesome work! Is there an easy way to install your dotfiles with settings app on NixOS?
Not yet. Currently only Arch based distros are supported for the dotfiles. But I will start to test the Hyprland settings app on more distros as next step.
Stephan congratulations on your superb work. Would it be possible to include the Ranger file manager in your next configurations? I tried to install it but I can't configure the preview of images and pdfs (I tried both with ueberzug and w3m for images and with Zathura for pdfs) Thanks.
Ranger was included in earlier versions. You can find the ranger configuration here gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/tree/2.3/ranger?ref_type=tags Maybe this helps.
The hyprland configuration on the fly is just perfect. I'm just missing your same GTK theme, can you tell me which one it is?
Should be libadwaita.
Hi great work on your scripts, amazing. Been using for a few days, really enjoying the setup. Just one little issue, how do I turn off the auto sleep after idle, I'm using my rig for steaming don't wont it turning off.
Thank you. Just set all timout values to 0 in the dotfiles settings app.
@@mylinuxforwork appreciate the reply, worked it out! Perhaps as an idea, you should make an app to configure waybar?
Steph you have outdone yoself on this one
Thank you.
Good work on those dotfiles few things that happened to me during installation:
I did arch minimal install + your app for installing dotfiles + SDDM from your dotfiles
After installation wlogout and eww didn't installed
After rebooting SDDM didn't start
yay wasn't installed for some reason
So I installed yay, wlogout and eww manually and used your update dotfiles feature and it fixed everything including SDDM
I must say you doing amazing job with those dotfiles but please could you make your AI button and your logo match colors of icons on waybar ? and maybe add support for night mode? something like wl-gammarelay? (even if it isn't hard to add it manually it would be nice to just have it)
Thank you so much. Installation issues can happen due to timeouts. That's why I have added the check of core package to the install script. And thanks for your ideas for new features.
Thanks for your feedback. Sometimes it comes to a timeout during the installation. Then you need to install some packages manually afterwards.
Hi Stephan. Great work. Just one question. Why is it that when I hover the mouse over the waybar or any application the cursor is correct "Bibata-Modern-Ice" but when all aps are closed the mouse theme switches to adwaita default cursor? This is bothering me a lot. Please help.
Can you try the following app. Open the ML4W Welcome App. Click on Settings/Appearance. Select Change GTK Theme. Select in nwg-look the right cursor and apply. Then back in the Welcome App in Settings/Appearance on Refresh GTK Settings. Logout and Login.
