I live near San Francisco in California and I just did a similar trip but did it a few months ago, in the end of September and the weather was fantastic. Went farther north into Utah and it is spectacular. I'm glad you got to visit a little of my home area....my dream is to do a ride in a some of your home area. Funny how we always have to go somewhere else to really appreciate it.
