    Randy you did a nice job with explaining how to skin and properly stretch a muskrat. Sewing machine for the fur was a special treat to see working. This was a great video series Randy that you did. Very informative for ones that want to give trapping a try.

    Randy love the muskrat trapping video, this brings back many good memories of trapping as a kid. We used to measure the length of the muskrats as this would give bragging rights with other kids who would compare their catch and size every morning before school started:)

    Just a little tip . Leave some of tail leather on when u go to cut both sides it helps and leaves more fur on when go to stretch it . And go to make stuff out of it. Its good tip.

    I'm 20 now and referenced this video when it first came out to make some Beaver pelt garments. Rewatching it now, why is it that when I finish fleshing and tanning my pelts I give them a rub on the face to feel the softness? It seems to be a universal thing that everyone does. Even Randy @ 3:55. If you know you know.

    Quite the stack of Yeti coolers behind Randy... I know Orion made some changes with their products and strategy lately, so I guess Randy and Orion parted ways.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  4 роки тому

      Orion informed me they were getting out of the hunting space. If your company is getting out of the hunting space, Randy Newberg is likely not the guy you want using your products. 😜

    • @TNOutdoorsFanatic
      @TNOutdoorsFanatic 4 роки тому

      Randy Newberg, Hunter That is frustrating. I had a sales rep for Orion tell me about two years ago that they were getting a lot of pressure from all the camping/hiking retailers telling them that they would sell their products if they took the skull off. Although, he also told me that Orion was deeply rooted in Hunting & Fishing and that would never happen. I guess that also explains why Damon left too! I hate that they caved to pressure and potential sales to the non-hunting retailers out there. I love my Orion gear and the fact it is made not far from my home, but this change of marketing strategy has me angry with their decision makers.

    Have you ever hung the muskrats by the rear feet for skinning? This is what I was taught, and never tried skinning one without hanging it.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  4 роки тому +1

      I have a spot to hang them by the back foot, but I couldn't film in that spot due to light and audio not being good. Easier if you put the back leg in a V-notch or even fencing U-shaped nail.
