Absolutely loved Peppard as well. He oozed western class. Unfortunately, he was tough to work with as well as live with (five marriages, four divorces). Once agreed he was his own worst enemy. Pneumonia took him down too soon at 65.
“My dear boy, we’re all expendable in this business. It’s all part of the game.” “Game…” “Shay, I’d like you to know I’m considering you for promotion. You’ll be a fully fledged member of the club.” (No response.)
Love all the pictures from Columbia studios lately 😮

Surprisingly, as a cinephile I had never even heard of this film which is both entertaining and well acted (imho) despite only having journeymen actors. Considering the repetitive nature of films on UK television I am surprised that no-one has had the initiative to screen this film which compares more than favourably with the habitual offerings.
I decided to give this a look because i remember seeing a few minutes of it on British TV around 1980 ? and haven't seen it on TV since. The part how he discovers the identity of the traitor, just by studying the files of who knew about the operation, didn't seem very 'clever'. ( i'd have liked something more intelligent, more thought out )
Check out the video "Dwight Schultz talks about working with George Peppard". He was professional but he was also a movie star who could be difficult on the set of "The A Team" at times.
Funny, in the scene after Shay starts checking security we see Polly walking out of a secure area with her hand bag then he flashes the list then they argue about clearance. They've got to be the worst spies committed to celluloid operating in the least secure spy agency. No wonder they have double agents. Polly technically does not know if Shay is a double agent, and Shay does not know if Polly is a double agent. Rest of the movie more than makes up for it. Butterfield is right out of The Wall
I can never really tell, in films like this, if it's a clever story, or just going through a series of motions to give that impression. Also, i always find it difficult if people are just 'discussing' things in a film, especially when they mention people's names, which i can't remember or put a face to.
Les apprentis comédiens croient toujours devoir la ramener en réalité c’est un bon petit film d’espionnage pas mal fait du tout avec un scénario solide et un bon rythme merci
Thank-you! Love the spy movies from the 60s and 70s!
Not heard of this one before. Most engaging and enjoyable thriller!
1:24 gorgeous scenes of the Acropolis. Loved this fine spy / intrigue movie. American movie star, British cast.
Very John LeCarre-ish. Good movie. George Peppard never disappoints.
Beautiful acting by George Peppard.
Loved George from Breakfast at Tiffany’s , to A-team.

When?
So many different opinions! Oh well!- I'll have to watch it, then judge for myself!! 😮😢🎉😂❤
George Peppard I'm watching the movie he's always worth watching
This was an excellent movie, great script and superb acting.
Incomprehensible!!!Bored me to tears!!!
Excellent cold-war spy thriller.
Great movie, thank you UA-cam. Hey UA-cam guys why do you put on those stupid ads, wouldnt it be better to sell toothpast or dishwashing soap?

Back in the day, when car horns really made you listen. Not today the horns sound like little birds chirping.
GOOD MOVIE!!!
Does it contain foul language?
Great classic movie brilliant casts thank you💖
Judy geeson so beautiful
@3.03, The dead guy flinched when the car exploded !
Wouldn’t you in the middle of an explosion?
In the opening scene, the man walking with the automatic rifle sure looks like Alexander Scourby.
3:02 that explosion shocked a dead man!
Please subtitle Persian films classic very good ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤thanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Chill out critics. It's just an escapism movie.

Butterfield is right out of The Wall
Yes, good point ! I suppose that in a business like this, no one knows what quite to believe. ( and this story illustrates that. )
Did Havard University just find a way to sue UA-cam for running so many scammy ads?
What's that strange looking machine gun at the start and end ? ( it looks like a 'mixture' of different models !)
27 minutes. He takes glasses off the girl and she looks like Goldie Hawn - but wait it's kurt Russell. Anyone else see it.
I liked the movie
Love judy geeson on screen
Your notes gave away the story. I had to put a bug on your phone, old boy ...
Im So English As A HAMBURGER 🍔 😂😂😂😂
This movie would make for a great remake. An excuse for an American to play a James Bond like character
excellent movie...Charles Gray always plays a reptilian character, George Peppard is cool and suave....and Judy Geeson is adorably sexy...
Don't care how good Peppard is, or good-looking. Five marriages? Definitely unstable.
I watch later
Nah. Too old
These movies are so fake.

It's movie fiction, make-believe. Do you expect them to be "authentic"?
@@soniavadnjal7553 Yes, i do.
The worst acting ever and Judy Geeson at her worst.
Les apprentis comédiens croient toujours devoir la ramener en réalité c’est un bon petit film d’espionnage pas mal fait du tout avec un scénario solide et un bon rythme merci
Judy Geeson at her best ! I like how she looks in this, with glasses.
I thought she was fine except the baby temper scenes, likely she didn't think that belonged in the movie and she'd be right
