The last 2 mins of the video really hit it home for me, because that's how I feel about my own country too. Tourists know a lot more about it than I do, because I've been taking the sights for granted, not socializing too much, and not going out of my way to discover hidden gems or anything like that. For me, 1 day is never really enough to feel like I've gotten the vibe of a city though, but that's mainly because my pace is quite slow and I like to take things easy and let it all sink in, rather than rushing to complete a checklist of things to see. Of course, it also depends on the size and sights of a city. One day visiting Berlin did feel enough, but one day in Paris absolutely didn't. Same with Florence--just too much to see. But Venice in one day is also doable. One day in Tokyo--hell nah. One day in Kobe? Yes (and worth it!).
Something hit me the last few times I went traveling. At some point, most cities at least are pretty similar. Yeah, there's differences in urban planning, cultural sites, tourist sites, food etc, but in general most fairly dense cities have a similar vibe. Some of more out-of-the-way places can feel very different from other out-of-the-way places in other countries, but even then the country side is fairly similar everywhere. There's also a huge difference between traveling to a place and actually living day-to-day life there when there's not a set date you're supposed to leave. That's when you really get to know the people inhabiting that place, because you're not destined to leave you feel more at ease in integrating yourself into the rhythm of that place.
Gotta agree with the last bit. People ask me about places because "you're from there" but I can't even tell you what the inside of the bar around the corner looks like
Hold up- did you not end up going to Kanazawa castle or kenroku-en while you were in Kanazawa or did I miss it 🤔 Mudame’s bag is super cute! And it has more pockets on the outside 🤩 Her photography is top tier 💁🏻♀️ Video was fun- 11/10 would watch again. Gonna miss the daily vlogs, gives me something to look forward to every day
First time I traveled to Osaka I did not really care for it either. Now 13 years later, 10 of which spent living in Japan, I really love Osaka. Always excited about traveling there.
I can agree with the idea at the end. The first trip for me is filled with wonder and awe as I check off every big tourist attraction. The second trip to the same location (Kyoto/Tokyo) became more of a vibe check. In fact I stayed multiple days in Osaka which personally isn't bad in the not so busy places but overall not my vibe after a few days. Personally in terms of vibe check, I would choose Kobe as that instantly matched my vibe. (Specifically the open and calm wooden area near the sea)
To be honest, if you are going to cities to do things as a tourist, most places are a 1 day deal for me, there is just a few bigger cities that are worth 2-3 days. To visit what a prefecture have to offer... 3 to 7 days in most cases. Do you have a full in dept perspective of what it is to live in that city/prefecture ? No, but is that even the goal ? I am at 42 prefectures now and did many as just a 1 day thing, but later ended up finding more and more place I would like to visit between the main place I already visited. Spending around 3 days in a prefecture is not bad at all, sometimes does require to search for a bit more than just the big city and the main attraction, but found out really nice places that would usually be overlooked.
I think you can get the vibe of a place quickly, but to know if you truly like it or you just had a bad day then I think you need longer. I didn't like Kyoto as much the last time I visited, but this time I spent 7 days and it's now one of my favourite cities, my opinion totally flipped. Last I felt like it was a bit too dominated by cars, it was louder because of that and I walk everywhere so I was constantly waiting for cars, to do many things in one or two days was a drag. Kind of still true, but because I only did a couple of things each day with more time, I was able to take in the local eateries and walk the quieter routes and it was much better.
Has Mudame found a particular nail salon she really likes while in Japan or does she do them herself? They are always really nice when we get glimpses of them in the vlogs.
Hi Mudan. I love seeing how creative you are with your vlogs. But i have a challenge for you. Can you try a wearing a full decora outfit or let babysitter take a day over and make her own vlog. Have a nice day, good luck and keep up the awsome vlogs.😊
Yeah I’ve always found 1 day is really never enough to get a vibe of a city, maybe some cities you can get the vibe but most cities especially larger ones I’d say more then 1 day is needed to visit
6:29 Who or what was used for that angle adjustment Also, with the last bit, it makes sense. Cause while I am in a state that usually gets flown over, there might be stuff to do here, especially in the two major cities of it, but I wouldn’t know cause I don’t go to one of them often and the other, I live there most of my life. Can’t really tell you what there is to do cause I don’t know them nor do I search them out. Even in a foreign place I go to too much falls under this, such as a town in Mexico my parents are from. But places outside of that town, I feel more earnest to look around
You keep falling for the whole "I wrote an essay in the comments and I know senpai's gonna read it and notice me and mention it in the next video" -schtick. I thought you were smart, but I guess it was just the glasses giving me that impression. smh. Thanks, fella~! What sorts of wacky things will mudan get up to tomorrow?
I cannot comprehend how you can spend one day and do all of the following: Eat different local cuisines, see multiple attractions, tourists spots, museums, shops, parks, architecture, etc. Even starting early and ending late, I can do maybe 3 or 4 things in one day if I'm rushing. But if I'm rushing I'm not really experiencing it to the fullest am I?
@@nexustom5823 Well, to cut it short - They schedule a day ahead by locating the shops, café, restaurants, entertainment etc. and predict how much time each thing would take to do. If they have planed much for the day and one or two things get delayed they interupt what they're doing if possible or cancel the next planed event/planned shooting. Or arrive so late to the last location that they will experience the place have closed/shut down for the day before closing time (A wery Japanese thing to do 😅). Few things are recorded a day in advance. I think it was something like that.
A tier video Let the laugh guy cook mudan. My bad king, i didn't know you read a lot of the comments. I'm so sorry for being stupid. Good video mudan, If it snows during your time in tokyo do you think you can get some cool shots of the snow fall? I havent seen snow since 3 years ago
I've been in Osaka for 5 days at this point. Definitely liked Tokyo within the first 2 days but not vibing with Osaka at all. It's just close to other touristy hubs like Kyoto and Nara so it's a nice middle stop for fast exploring
3 Days for a big City are totally fine. 1 Day for touristy stuff. 1 Day to explore away from tourist hotspots. 1 Day to chill and catch up with stuff you have missed. 3 Days is also enough to try different local food places. Also, Berlin is a shithole. Hamburg is much better or get to the Mannheim/ Heidelberg/ Darmstadt region.
I think the thing is that you speed run everything... So 2 days are enough for you, me personally I like to take my time so 2 weeks is a perfect vacation for me... This probably changes from person to person, there is no real right or wrong answer to to this...
Day 105 of asking Mudan to complete every single prefecture in Japan and Day 88 of telling Mudan to improve his reading speed and study for the JLPT exam.11 left to JLPT.
Day 75 of commenting on Mudan's Vlog: Pranking the prankster (read yapper) is always fun! 😆 I have lived so long now that no matter where in the would I would chose to live from tomorrow I can never say in the future that I have lived most of my life abroad.
im going to guess why osaka wasn't your vibe. Osaka is such a chilled and layed back city compared to Tokyo. That thinking comes down to how old you are or your upbringing or maybe just what you like in a city.
That was such an L take... By that I mean Lovely take. Jokes aside, it might be down to a person. For me, the weather can affect the vibes of the place a lot. Heck even time of the day can.
Yeah as you noted it's a YOU thing, and its gonna be different for everyone. Also the depth of your 'assimilation' is going to be painfully shallow, no mater who you are, if you're just there for a couple days. To think otherwise if just painfully arrogant or maybe just naive, idk.
I try never to stay less than three days in a place.Very hard to get a vibe doing that, for me. At best I get the key things I want to see in that city. I prefer three months in a home base and taking daytrips to catch sites nearby. Only when I lived in Japan for a short while did I really get the vibe--the real vibe--like the sakura lining the approach to my apartment first glowing with red buds, partially opening, then bursting into full bloom before being dusted with snow and the day after that, being blown to a storm of petals. The antithesis of a speed run, I'd say. There's no meandering through back streets and finding hidden gems--little ateliers, pop-up galleries, various restaurants and so on. But each to their own. A speed run vlog of prefectures and collecting man-hole-covers is a legit reason for being, and it looks like fun too.
Nice to see so much natural laughter in this episode, glad you are not holding it in anymore.
Please get card protectors for your sewer cover cards. Just a single 40 card box would do, don't need to worry about sleeving them individually
so this was addressed in the his monthly round up videos. The babysitter has a card folio/file with all the cards in them.

Mudame's bag is so cute no wonder she wanted to show it off
Gotta agree with the last bit. People ask me about places because "you're from there" but I can't even tell you what the inside of the bar around the corner looks like
Mudan seriously in his stalker phase
The water spouts at the parking spot are to get rid of snow. Why they are already on...that is a mystery....
Testing before snow falls?

Ok you made me LOL stupidly a few times
Petition for a day where Mudan follows Mudame around for as long as he can without being realised (with consent of course)
So, he lets her know that he will but not when? Would be a bit
I want to see / learn more about Mudam too! ❤
Mudame in her natural habitat could be a fun video.
really love the video, hopefully the algo do this channel justice

Will we get a tier list once you visit all prefectures? I have five to go myself but will tick off one (Ibaraki) tomorrow.

The water on the road is for melting ice
I actually really like mudan abrupt yet serious humor; it fits perfectly somehow 2:14
Thanks for showing some food and some laughs and great views.

The sprinkler are there to avoid ice formations on the streets. You're welcome ;-) !

Definetly agree the part about Osaka! I feel like that prefecture lacks anything that makes it special as other prefectures do it much better.
Mudan you have kept your streak salute 🫡
I’d really love to see babysitter’s manhole card collection! Looks like she has collected a lot at this point.
if you told me 10 months ago these videos would evolve to the point of having stalker/slasher POV cameras, I would have not believed you

Mudan min maxin everythin, 1 day vibe feel is like licking apple, you will never get a full bite.
This video was mad funny.
3:00 ooh-wee-hoo
what am i gonna watch when this ends
I unironically like Mudans humor. If this is Estonian comedy, I like.
Gate optical illusion cool

Its not the food and the sights that you visit for, its the people.
i feel like tokyo is like THE Japan experience, respectfully why would a tourist go elsewhere unless it was like a second visit
The water in Toyama (and other places in Hokuriku) is for melting the snow. They must be testing them.
Yo! Why not link the Berlin videos in the description?
10/10 funniest episode
yes, this video is fun enough. i just like to see random stuff like the bicycle illusion

If it falls then sure but from what I heard it's a real rarity that it snows in Tokyo

The fact he likes Tokyo but not Osaka already shows that you cannot judge a place with one day.

did you make the giant map of japan or buy it? if so, where?
2 minutes and 41 seconds, to be exact.
I noticed I would need 3-4 days per town, In terms of cycling around. Maybe faster if you had rental car.
Hello Mudan, do you know the craftsman's name that did this cow bag? I love it would like to buy it as a gift too!
