- The most important part of any fashion story, and one that people forget to think about, is getting it commissioned in the first place. Ideas are great, but seeing them come to life on the page of a magazine, or on their Instagram, is what counts. That’s why mastering the pitch is so important.
In the first workshop of i-D Summer School, Editor-in-Chief, Alastair McKimm explains what he looks for in a pitch and how you could get your work featured on i-D. From figuring out what work to put your portfolio to writing treatments and finding the right visual references, this workshop will cover all the components that make up a winning pitch.
After that, submit your own pitch for the chance to receive feedback from Alastair himself and get your idea commissioned by the i-D team.

@@i-D Hello! I was very excited on submitting my pitch for Summer School but after reading the T+C's I was a bit discouraged. Could you explain in a summarized manner what basically the terms and conditions stand for? Most of the people that are submitting probably are young, like myself, and don't have any prior knowledge of law to truly understand the T+C's.

Contacting anyone from your staff in regards to an inquiry about open internship positions has been virtually impossible, be it via email or through the phone. No one picks up the phones listed on your website, nor did I get any replies to my emails. Is there a limit to the number of submissions/pitches one person can submit?

For the person whose pitch gets selected, does production assistance cover travel costs for the artist if their production idea takes place elsewhere from where they are based, say a different region within the country? 2. How soon after the pitch is selected does the artist and i-D team get ready for the actual production/ execution? Thank you!

Hey i-D, quick q: when thinking about our pitch should we be keeping in mind the limitations to shooting during these times (social distancing) or should we just go with an idea freely/normally/as we wish? (using models, locations, having a crew, etc. as opposed to just taking pictures in our own homes lol) I hope that makes sense.

What is exactly a pitch? (English is not my first language)
When you have an idea for something, you pitch it or present it/show it to someone using your portfolio with either videos, writing and/or photographs.
