My son had two different motorcycle wrecks and he was life flighted in both accidents. The second wreck my son had a stroke in the helicopter. He had traumatic head injuries. He is doing good now.
I have a love for aircraft,so enjoyed watching the chopper take off, when l used to visit my aunts in Bham .Alabama,l liked for the, to take me to the airport and let me watch the planes take off and land. The power thats behind them is awesome,l went to ground school and took flying lessons when l was first married ,many years ago,but still have an interest in it.😮😊
While I was in the ICU at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA I had a window that looked out over the very spot that the life saving organ transplant helicopters came in daily. It was surreal considering I was a ❤️transplant survivor recovering at that time. I knew those helicopters were saving lives.
My dad had a wreck in Rogersville and life star flew him to UT in Knoxville..smaller counties aren’t equipped to deal with big emergencies like that.very cool to see thanks for posting Don B!!
If it was a lifeflight for trauma cate, they would have a helipad on top of hospital usually, easy for us to get to. Thank you for showing what us medical people do.
So I used to work at tbe LabCorp inside the UT Knoxville hospital. The LifeStar pad was right outside our little modular building (which sat between the buildings by the lab and it was close to the morgue. I would park along the fence by the body farm...it stunk so bad). Anyway, when the helicopter would come and go, our desks would shake. Hope the patient was saved. Thanks for sharing, Don!
The helicopter landed scooped my son up. Took him to Dallas it is very expensive and did not take very long to get to the hospital. It was much quicker than driving
My brother was life flighted from I75 in Lake City aka Rocky Top in 2013 to UT Hospital. He spent five months there and I credit UT hospital for saving him. He had a seizure while driving northbound heading to Kentucky. He still has permanent damage to this day but he was given only a minimum chance of making it.
A lot of trauma, or stroke, heart attack that needs immediate intervention, i.e. heart cath, neurosurgery, (brain surgery) etc , that the hospital can't provide. Also, for organ transplants that are very time sensitive.
I’ve been on lifeflight one time. They took me by ambulance to catch lifeflight in Clarksville, Tn. To Vanderbilt in Nashville. As soon as they got me on helicopter they intubated me fast so I knew nothing. They cut all my clothes off. I had a grandmal seizure. I actually got diagnosed with epilepsy.
After work i went up to see a friend baby. I was looking through the window her fingernails were purple. They med flighted her. I think they thought i was her mom. I was out there by the chopper they asked in if i wanted to ride along. I said no i had to get the grandma to the hospital. She ended blind from lack of oxygen. Here od gets medflighted too.

I'm glad the weather is cooperating. My grandmother had to be airlifted from a local hospital to MUSC in Charleston. Our drive there was very long 😢
Wow ,love to see that. Thanks ,Don.
WE all need a break from what has been going on.

You’re right Don. It is usually very critical person
I live close to our local hospital. I see this often. They fly patients to a town about 2hrs away by car. They are much better equipped.
Replay crew ❤

My husband got that dine with him in Chillicothe Ohio to grant in Columbus Ohio trauma after his car accident
Stroke, trauma, code
Sometimes the helicopter is used for organ donors, accidents critical time to get to trauma quicker, rural areas.
Earlier there was a vehicle that flipped and overturned on I-40. It might be related.
