I think this makes for one of the best Fantasy Computers that is fun to dev for (enough CPU and VDP power to make cools 2D thing realitvely easily) yet actually useful too (GPIO) and thus pretty suited for teaching too; especially at the given pricepoint. We just need a bit more software-infrastructure for the more serious tasks ... EDIT: PS: I bought a cheap 'Transmedia C 196 K' PS2/ to USB adapter/dongle that explicitly mentions it just 'connects the pins' and does not convert the protocol, which I just got in the mail and it works flawlessly. It effectively does the same as your home-made cable, it just connects the pins :) Might be useful for other AL2 users that might not have spare parts floating around.
I think the different processor (Z80 in AGon, 6502 in PET) will make this very difficult. We only got BBCBasic because it was ported to Z80 many years ago. Unless someone has done that for PET Basic, I suspect not.
@@LuzrBum I have plans for porting CP/M 2.2 to Agon without need change VDP firmware. I think it will be possible make CP/M 2.2 as loadable program for MOS(or compatibility layer). I already made port of CP/M 2.2 for ZXUno so I understand basic points/requirements for this process. I'm waiting for restock this board on Olimex.
I cannot answer that sorry - suggest to check www.thebyteattic.com/p/agon.html, maybe there are some hints in old development notes by the creator. Could a Z80 even access 16MB?

Being part of the whole tangent as it's developed is SUPER COOL!
(It feels like back when no one had ever heard of an Arduino)
My USB keyboard worked. Even with lighting :D Some USB keyboards still speak PS/2.
For your edifacion a sleaveless, vneck sweater is a tank top. Great video, I will defintely add one to my collection.
Thank you for the info and feedback!
Interesting! Nice video!

640x480 x 64 colours = 230400bytes per screen can the vdp9990 handle full screen animations?
@30:38 I have found a C hello world - untested github.com/breakintoprogram/agon-projects/tree/main/C
Could you have the Agon Light run Commodore PET Basic?

Can we see a Wolftenstein 3D port?
230kb x50hz = 10mb a second that's more than the serial connection from processor to vdp9990 can handle

Audio capabilities do the match a neoGS?
Can this board run CPM like other current day z80 computers
There is efforts in that direction, needs a different VDP bitbucket.org/cocoacrumbs/agon-light-cpm/src/master/

@@nihirash Sounds great! Ping once alpha available completed and I'll do a video if you'd like ;)
@@LuzrBum Currently I'm waiting for availability board on Olimex 🙂
When I've got it - I'll start porting.
Parallel key board support?
How many colour pallete?
Seems to be 24 bits
@@LuzrBum how many line interrupt driven palette changes can be made on a scan line?
The short and wide characters look a little tough to read.
I see that that changes when it switches into graphics mode, so maybe it's customizable for the text mode?
Looking at some other videos and it doesn't look quite as stretched/flattened...
Why isn't it clokked at 50mhz? Why isn't there 16mb of fast dualported video ram as well as 16mb of ram?
