Those stories about villages that are in Japan but use a different flag and are dangerous to go into are interesting to me, because it's like a Japanese version of the Deep South stories of Confederate murder camps hidden in the boonies
Same. I think of it like the remote but populated areas of Death Valley and Slab City, or Salton Sea and whatnot where the people who can't live too close to schools and stuff go after leaving prison. The kind of places where the law may exist, but it isn't usually enforced like other places. It's not JUST them living there, but the numbers of "undesirables" in those little pockets is naturally higher than elsewhere. If something happens, you're kinda on your own. The police rarely if ever will bother to even show up, and if they do it'll be more of a recovery than a rescue. They certainly won't be there in a timely manner, regardless.
This one was a really good one, a great way to end the year off with a bang. Thank you so much for doing what you do, I'm so appreciative that I've discovered your channel when I did since it's really helped me to cope with the craziness of the pandemic & a certain insane authoritarian president (we all know who I'm referring to) basically what I'm saying is that it's been extra tough year especially here in the U.S. & I'm glad I get the privilege to listen to your narrations & to learn a lot about Japanese culture & I hope you & your family have a wonderful holiday, stay safe, & have a happy New Year's too.
Nice! A new episode. Yay! Actually, i've been re-watching the whole kowabana podcast since i had finished it lastweek while leaving a "like" each episodes as i wouldn't able to do the first time i'd watched the whole series. I really love your content Ma'am, especially the stories and the Japanese urban legends. More power to you and your channel. ❤️❤️❤️ - from Philippines
This year was very difficult but let me just say I'm very happy to have found this channel. I'm happy to support all the hard work and effort that goes into making these stories. Thank you for the nightmares.

16:57 =Whomp... The priest chickened out... Good God... He should have just said, "I'm too weak for this... I have to call reinforcement." Instead he went, "Forget this sh*t."... Yeah... He chickened out...
'This mountain is indeed a mountain...but it's actually a valley' Now...feel free to call me an idiot, but isn't a valley the friggen OPPOSITE of a dang mountain?? Mountains go up! Valleys go down compared to a mountain, per example?? If OP is friggen talking about the whole place, they should have described it as 'the whole place is cursed, mountain and valley and everything around it' or something like that, instead >3>

I can't imagine how intense your researches are. I like how horror enthusiasts actually have a place in society. A productive one.
Hey, Tara, stay awesome! 3 years later and your voice is still my favorite for storytime.
It's been a little while, but you got me through some hard times.

@@chunellemariavictoriaespan8752 Crazy right? 🤣
Yay! A new episode, perfect way to start my day off.
Why does everyone always tear the talisman off the door? :)
And a thick rope (probably with white paper shaped like thunders(?) -> shimenawas), That's probably my final warning to get out of that place
Because those who don't, do not end up becoming a story
Stories don't begin without folly...

16:57 =Whomp... The priest chickened out... Good God... He should have just said, "I'm too weak for this... I have to call reinforcement." Instead he went, "Forget this sh*t."... Yeah... He chickened out...
He probably realized he was way over his head on this and that they were probably dealing with something sinister.
Can anyone else see the sleeping horned dragon/serpent in the cave photo? I know it's just earth but now I can't unsee it...
35:59 =Sabong... Chicken Fight... And they're treating Euji as a slave...
I love Japanese urban legends! You stub your toe on a table... THE CURSE OF THE TABLE HAS BEEN UNLEASHED!!!
WE NEED MORE KOWABANA!
No, thank *you* for making these.
I think the second one is the Inunaki village
Dam that last one is weird
37:25 =I don't get it... The woman's probably blaming them for being B.I. of Euji and could not even think that Euji's already a troublemaker...
How is it my fault that your son went there alone 😂. You glared at the wrong ppl ma'am!
So the first story what prefecture is it and what mountain?
Teacher : okay next student! may you introduce your self?
Student : S
What are these villages supposed to be?
'This mountain is indeed a mountain...but it's actually a valley'

makes me wonder how will these villages survive in today's pandemic
without outside contact probably pretty well
hahahaha
Oh hi mark
39:13 =GG... I think they are imperialists😂...
