The vintage Hot Wheels City Sto & Go playset was one of my favorite toys and Christmas gifts ever, back in the day! Played with that thing for hours daily. 👍
It's nice to see the Sto & Go returning in a more modern form. The new set looks very similar to the old one and is true to the form of the original. I really like how it connects to the orange tracks - that certainly is an improvement over the original. Hope to see more of the old Hot Wheels playsets returning!
Back in like 1982 when I was 7 years old, I heard that you could connect them all together and have one long ramp/track. I guess that was a myth looking at them now. Brings back memories!
I had them both in the early 80s and yes you could connect them both with a little ramp that came with one, probably the city set. You’d hafta push down the handle/service center sign at the top. I used books prop up the city. That was a lot of fun.
I wish I could see people customized sto n go play sets from 1979-2020’s incorporated into their dioramas. My favorites are the classic ones… but the new modern one isn’t that bad I just don’t like the orange roads, but at least it matches the track pieces.

The city playset was originally released in sept 1981 or sept 1982. Pretty sure it was 82, but not 100%. The first was the service center released in sept of 79. When I was little, I had the car wash and service station sto go released in 87. It was 2nd to the last fold up sto gos mattel released throughout the 80s and a great playset that got lots of playtime and use.
Great review on the new and vintage sets. The vintage quality of course is much better. It’s a shame all the Asians have taken over the American production
