Out water level dropped drastically over the last couple years and I have personally found 3 baskets fish baskets and know some others guys who have found even more. Yes the weekend warriors and small jack potters are cheating also and more often than we think. It’s shameful.
It makes an honest angler sick and question whether it's worth continuing with the tournaments.... there definitely needs to be harder punishments at both pro and club levels!
The problem is people just release the fish, call the wardens and have them marked so they can catch them bastards at weigh in. You release them and destroy the basket who knows who it belongs to they will just build another one. Point Red River BASS open.
It is stealing. To me the punishment should meet the crime (felony/misdemeanor) for whatever ammount of money is won or would have been won. That may be harsh, but guarantee it would cut it down tremendously, and would make these cheaters think long and hard about is it worth it.
Who else is re-visiting this web cast to see what Ben's opinion is on cheating? Good to see Ben is a hard-liner when it comes to punishment for fraud and cheating. We'll see how consistent he is with his rhetoric. $10,000 is a much larger number than the $1,000 figure floated out, after all.
Were riding on a slippery slope here. Cheating and over all water violations are happening more and getting more out of hand all of the time. If were not careful, our waters will start to be policed as heavily as our highways. I don't know how many truck drivers are on here, but I imagine this would resonate with them. Image if our waters had a DOT patrol on them. For those whom are not familiar with this. Those truck weigh stations you drive by. It's a division of law enforcement that each state has that targets truck drivers specifically. Depending on the DOT officer. It can be a truck drivers worst nightmare depending on just how picky they want to me. This division is paid for I believe 100% through fines. A truck being over weight is just 1 of hundreds of items they can fine you for.
Definitely don't want it to go overboard. Could you give an example of how it would apply to the issues that have been occurring in tournaments? For instance, snagging fish, putting fish in baskets, going to lakes during off limits....the things that are done on purpose. Thanks for your comment.
I blame the Marshall on the boat for letting it happen. That's his or her job, to catch violations. I just wonder if the Marshall on the boat is in on it too.
@@High-techRedneckFishing maybe the Marshall should be required to fill out a form for each fish caught. For example, did you see the hook in the mouth before it was removed etc.

Just mention the names OMG! After reviewing the footage of Jeff’s catch, it was very apparent that Jeff had been visually fishing a bedding fish, but then retrieved his bait and stated, ‘She isn’t going to bite’,” Beshears said. “He immediately deployed another cast in the vicinity of the initial cast where he had been sight fishing. Sprague immediately hooked a fish while verbalizing that the hooked fish was not the original bedding fish. He also verbalized that the fish was ‘hooked in the side.’ Sprague landed the fish and removed the hook just prior to presenting the fish to the weight scale. The official called the weight and the fish was released.”

Every registration form should clearly state the punishment for cheating. Yada yada, 1st offense, 2nd offense, and so on. Offenses that would be considered cheating should be itemized on the form with a space to initial next to each item. Drive it home! Cheating will not be tolerated. The girl that fishes the kayak tournaments, I saw a video where she tossed a measurable bass that was foul-hooked. That's the kind of integrity that should be highlighted. Without integrity, and enforcement, what the hell are we even fishing for?
Want to see the top level doing the same thing, in California you must release a fish not caught inside the mouth regardless even if it was accidental. The week before Steve Kennedy releases a 9 to 10 pounder because it was caught on a swimbait outside the mouth on Clear Lake but still won. Watch the Delta tournament in 2007, there was two anglers who reach outside the boat with both hands to either take out the hook or reposition a hook lol I mean who takes the hook out of a six plus pound bass over the water when there is a 100K on the line? Not Me! lol
How in the HECK is randy still on about saying FLW is way more competitive than bassmaster, also bumping tips with Scott Martin . So it’s OKAY for Scott Martin to where knee pads while another angler shakes a drop shot and Scott watches the fish eat it with his huba bubba telescope and tells said angler when to set the hook , randy thinks that’s somehow different than electriconally finding fish, he’s insane… but we don’t talk about that concept….But CAN WE.. on money bass?!?
