In 2024, I'm thinking of creating a series of guys and girls who travel by motorcycle.
The first one is Ducati Uncle from Italy. 56 years old. His wife, one daughter, and a Chihuahua.
Tamiya 1/12 Ducati 900ss
There's something about the design of Italian cars and motorcycles that fascinates me.
I can't say it well because I don't have the vocabulary, but it's full of beauty and fashionable.
The engine of the 900ss is an L-type twin, and the front and rear cylinders have different shapes due to the air cooling effect, and the bevel gear case and half cowl shape are distinctive.
Not only does it look cool no matter where you look at it, but it's a design that mecha fans will love, and no matter what kind of scenery you place it in, its appearance won't outshine the background.
I've never seen the actual motorcycle, but when I looked at the model, I realized that the 900SS was larger than it looked in the photo.
About the kit
It's not a resale product, so it's a fairly old kit, so the plastic material had deteriorated, but I managed to assemble it all the way to the end.
Looking at the finished product, I think this kit can be called a masterpiece of its time.
The rear suspension coils are made of metal and the quality of the tires is also high.
It's a very attractive bike, so I'm looking forward to seeing it re-released by Tamiya or new products from Aoshima or Hasegawa.
Making
Engine
All cable connections have been replaced with aluminum pipes and metal wires.
The structure of the camshaft's bevel gear was made visible, and the bevel gear was simply made using a plastic rod.
The funnel was made from aluminum pipe and metal mesh.
I made and installed the ignition coil, which is omitted in the kit.
Frame
The plastic material may have deteriorated, but when I put tension on it, it snapped.
I recreated the welding marks and replaced the bolts with hexagonal plastic rods.
windshield
Cracks occurred during polishing due to deterioration of the plastic material.
I felt a sense of despair, thinking, ``Oh, it's over.''
I took a mold of the windshield and used a vacuum former to make the windshield.
I wasn't able to do it very well, and the finish rating was 25 points.
PVC boards seem to lose their transparency when heated, so I think PET resin boards are better.
Cables
I used mesh wire for the oil hose, a braided hose for the breather hose, 0.4mm lead wire for the electrical equipment, and 0.6mm lead wire for everything else.
Painting
Painted in silver and metallic blue.
The plating was removed and painted with mirror chrome and water-based clear coat.
This time, I'm weathering it because it's an image of a traveling old rider and a Ducati.
The plated parts are clean, so weathering will add depth to the model.
Figurine
This is an old man rider who went on a trip on a Ducati.
I hope you will think that the worn out rider's jacket and half helmet are a good mismatch with the sharp 900ss motorcycle!
The figurine was made with Sculpey.
The face is printed with 3D data that can be used for secondary purposes, changing the frown into a smile.
Diorama Base
It's a Spanish country road.
The signboard directs you to the restaurant ``My Kitchen 15km South''.
I don't know if it's in Spain, but it seems like it's in Mexico.
Make The road with plaster, and mnake the dry soil with diorama clay and Coarse pumice gel.
Next time, I would like to make a wild woman who travels on a Harley.
I'm thinking of putting this model up for auction in Japan.

Great as usual, I've been looking for this kit for a long time but too expensive second hand
In Japan, it costs about 10,000 yen.
I bought it at a flea market.
It still cost 5000 yen.
This kit is listed on Tamiya's website as a discontinued product.
Therefore, I would like to resell it.
It seems that there are plans to resell 1/6 CB750 and Fiat.

That's right, there is a site with 3D data of figures, and I downloaded the data.
However, the 1/12 scale is on sale, so if you don't have a 3D printer, I think it's cheaper and cheaper to buy one.

Tamiya may resell old kits in limited quantities.
It is listed as a discontinued product on Tamiya's website, so it may be resold someday.
Recently, 1/6 CB750 and Fiat were resold.

That's funny. I have one of those lying around with only the engine block finished and was wondering if it would be something for you. You where at the time probably already about to finish it. 😄

@@scalemodeler They call that fetishism. I am however not sure it can be treated. 🙂 I do know the feeling all too well though. Whenne I was 16 and "roaring" around on my ancient 50 cc Zuendapp 2-stroke moped I once came by a motorcycle chop in a small village. The window was filled with the real thing: A square case 900SS in blue and silver. It was as if the clouds parted and the Gods came out. I'd still love to build a special around this very engien block however much that would be frowned upon by purists. In stead I "had to do" with a Pantah 600. @@scalemodeler First and foremost it is a model and you can let your imagination run wild.
A mesh on the carburetor's air funnel keeps birds and bats away.
But silencers in the exhaust pipes make the motorcycle heavier and cost more power. In addition, open exhaust pipes are also a safety factor: drivers can't run you over because they didn't hear you :-=

@@scalemodeler 仮面ライダーのバイクです！因みにバンダイから仮面ライダークウガのトライチェイサーのプラモデルも出てます（汗）
このキット、初期はメッキパーツが両面クロームメッキだったんですが、30年くらい前、突然、片面クローム・片面フラットメッキになってしまい、エキパイが半面だけメッキという訳の分からん仕様になってしまいました。
今はメッキを落として塗装というのが主流ですが、自分はメッキパーツ好きなんで、模型屋巡りして両面クロームのキットを探し出し買いあさりました。
ま、未だに積みプラですけれど。
この動画に刺激されて1台くらい作ろうか…と思ったけど、なかなかねえ(笑)
そうなんです。
なかなか、の気持ち私はいつ感じています。
メッキ塗装はわざわざ弱い塗膜の塗装するよりメッキの方がいいです（強く思います）。
メッキは30年持つってことですよね。ならそっちを選びます。
このキット、作りやすくて、姿は奥行感のあるいいキットでした。
足で探して複数台お持ちなのは大変でしたでしょうが、あぁ、羨ましいです。
@@scalemodeler メッキパーツ自体は、キットのままでも完成品でも変化はありません。
ただ、以前、直射日光の当たる窓辺にタミヤの1/6ハーレーダビッドソンスーパーグライドを置いていたんですが、ふと気づくとメッキが全て消滅し半透明のパーツと化していました(´；ω；`)ｳｩｩ
エレクトラグライドの金属製バンパーなどは大丈夫かもしれませんが。
人工照明と自然光では見栄えが格段に違うので、完成品を屋外に持ち出してニタニタしてたりするんですが、保管するのは薄暗い部屋の方が安全ですね。
あと、収縮率が違う異素材の組み合わせは経年劣化に弱いですね。
タンデムシートにパテ盛りして作ったシングルシートなんか、悲惨です。

The problems with real motorcycles have never been clarified by making a model.
Because I'm not a motorcycle designer.
However, when making a motorcycle model, I take into account the minimum configuration required to make it work.

I appreciate your painstaking work, which borders on art, but you got carried away by mixing some imaginative and somewhat unrealistic and somewhat contradictory elements such as the 2009 license plate and the squatter's clothing...If a Viaggiatore has a carefully preserved Ducati with the original mufflers and various customizations like the golden 900 MHR rims then he can't have those beat-up shoes instead of a pair of Gaerne boots and a very old helmet (no longer approved)... an Italian, apart from his more German height and beard, would never carry a “far west” lettele but a Bialetti Moka and an Esbit camping pot…

Por lo demás es un diorama magnífico. Enhorabuena.
