I'm watching this with wine in my belly and tears in my eyes. Is it "Carry On"? No, but it's KANSAS in 2020 playing music that no one else plays. Absolutely awesome!
I saw hundreds of bands live in my life. But when Kansas came years ago in Quebec city with Styx, everyone in the crowd wasn't making any noise because they where too flabbergasted of how these guys controls everything in their sound. How tight they where. It was almost frightening to the normies. Controlling the velocity with their instruments all at the same time and no it wasn't the console guy lowering the volume, it was them. No mistake anywhere, notes for notes. For once we where able to hear the keyboard and vocals. One of the best prog band I have ever seen, and with Yes, Threshold and Rush they where the most tight. And I have seen them all in the last 42 years. Probably will never see them again. They came again this year but I was too sick because of Lyme disease to go see them. But boy I would have love to see that again.
My wife and I saw Kansas in WV last summer, and if you closed your eyes, you'd have sworn that you were listening to Leftoverture on your turntable. Every chord, note, lyric, etc., was dead on. I can't wait to see them again whenever we are out of our COVID prison!

@@LarryFleetwood8675 Yep, it's "hot" and there's no dynamic range here. But I think the reason for the release delay was because they realized that they can't cut a vinyl LP with this mix without the needle jumping the grove, and that triggered a collective "Oh Fuck!" moment. Either remaster the album or undo the mastering process. The quickest and cheapest solution is to undo the mastering, and give us Zak's mix clean off the board. Since this delay, I did hear -- briefly -- a version of this song that isn't hot, wasn't compressed, had dynamic range ... but it was on bright side. Phil beat his china like it owed him money.
This is such a special moment. As a younger Kansas fan, new music from the band is a special, precious event. I probably won't be able to enjoy these moments all that often in my life, so I am savoring this experience. And what a good song to savor it to.

I saw them last night at the AT and T performing arts center in Dallas Texas. Absolutely puts audiences in a trance. Richard Williams is an all time classic!! Kansas is a Band!!!
Nice seeing people I know in the crowd shots! I am SO happy for the band, they truly sound fantastic, and it reminds me of Kansas from back in the day.
The first 30secs of this sounds like it came from Rush's Clockwork Angels album and there are hints of that sound throughout (bass lines and keyboards). Love this tune! Listened to this at least 10x already!
You know what will be funny? When this album will be released, it will go to the top ten album charts and will be certified gold or platinum! It would be great for some rockers to out sell some rap or hip hop act! Kansas is still awesome!
Gentleman of the band Kansas - this new music just brings a lump in my throat every time i hear it, and i've been looping "The Absence of Presence" since receiving it from 'pre-order' status. This is just amazing song-writing coupled with the amazing craftsmanship we've all grown to appreciate since the inception of Kansas over 47 years ago. This is just exceptional, exceptional music, and clearly an immediate classic - easily a top 4 Kansas album - and what band is able to do that 40+ years into existence? none but Kansas. Thank you - this is amazing music.
Saw them in July 1979 at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mi. It was the ‘’Monolith Tour’’ BEST concert I ever saw. It’s too bad that the band is no longer the originals, but times change 🙁 I should mention but as my brother and I were sneaking off behind the building to visit the trees while we were waiting in line to get in, we almost got run over by Robbie Steinhart driving a Dodge diplomat. I’m guessing that he was in a hurry to make a last minute pick up before the concert.
Two of the originals are still in the band. AND, all of the current members have been approved by all the originals, so I don't know how they could have stayed closer to the legacy of the originals any better than they have. They sound AWESOME today, both recorded AND live. I've seen them several times since this lineup came on board. I'll be seeing them again not long down the road, too. They're SO good! Also, if any of the originals are in town when the band is playing, there's an open invitation for them to join the band on stage, and they usually do for a song or two.
People are so fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to some incredible music never fading emotions that amaze us all. stay home and listen to some Kansas people. 🤘🤘
Last concert I went to was Kansas, Live at the Garden in Memphis. So fine, outdoors and great sound. Not a problem for this outfit! No bad seat, anywhere! Glorious and lovely! Happy I had the tickets and the time!
Too many times in the past I tried to climb the mountain But the inner voices laughed Too many blocks in the road I tried to find a new way But there’s nowhere else to go But now I silence the crowd And nothing can stand in my way Throwing Mountains to the sky And the shadows reveal the horizon Driving Oceans to the side And my footprints will cross the divide New pressures weighing me down I want to take the first step But I’m tethered to the doubt Too many forces collide This requires something bigger Than confidence and pride I won’t hold back anymore Nothing can stand in my way Too many time in the past I ran toward the ocean And I was frozen in my tracks So many times on the path I felt the power coursing But the lighting didn’t last But now the moment is here Nothing can stand in my way
I want to congratulate you Phil and Rich - I will always treasure the years of Kansas with Steve (and John), Kerry, Dave and Robbie - but you've kept the magic and fire amidst these personnel changes, that is so VERY hard to do, but you've done it!
The preview snippets from a few weeks ago sounded tantalizing - and now this!! Epic, powerful song! The current lineup quite ably channels the authentic musical muscle and spirit of the original lineup while charting a promising course for the future. Kansas is a band and Kansas lives!
@@soeyanto9452 ...if this is your attempt to say that you dislike the "new" singer, Ronnie Platt, then you have no understanding of what true talent is. Steve Walsh is no longer in the band and is happily doing his own thing...get over it.

Wooow!!! I love it! This has all those great ingridents to make it classic Kansas hard rock song. Amazing! Waiting for the whole cd will be the hardest part now :-D. This really is PERFECTION.
One of the outstanding tracks on this excellent new album, one of the very best that Kansas has ever recorded ! Zak Rizvi was already an ace for the band, definitely inspired by Kerry Livgren, but they recruited Tom Brislin who's not only a great keyboard player but also an inspired composer. He wrote two great songs and added more interesting lyrics. This track is almost some kind of typical proggy heavy Kansas with wonderful instrumentation from all members.
I've been a Kansas fan for over thirty years. It's been my experience to rarely like a Kansas tune during the first listen. This tune is an exception to the rule: it's prog certainly with a nice hook in the chorus.
Holy shit, the drums are fucking amazing, they sound so good after so many years, they've aged like a nice whine. such an awesome song, vocals are really really good
Sounds aweeeesome... the guitars, the violins, how the violin melts with the guitar in the crescendo part of the middle and the vocals are great.... worths the waiting!!
Some of their stuff from the 90s and 00s didn't resonate with me, but this and Prelude Implicit are fantastic. Loved seeing them in Pittsburgh in Oct 2018, and will try to catch them again after 'The Great Pause' has ended.
Pause the video at 0:14 and look at the badge on the drums, they're Yamaha Custom Phil Ehart models... pretty cool. Not many are legend enough to get their own custom model. It happens a lot in the guitar realm, but not that often in the world of drums.
The badge instruments are often little different than the standard models the artist chose to use for years. It's nice Yamaha did that for Phil, after how many years of endorsing their drums.

Wow!! they still have it after all the years and personnel changes!! Just saw them in Augusta, Ga. Feb.28, 2020 and was totally blown away!! Love the sound from this new album.
I saw them last night at the AT and T performing arts center in Dallas Texas. Absolutely puts audiences in a trance. Richard Williams is an all time classic!! Kansas is a Band!!!
Sounds like the Kansas from 43 years ago. Great song. Too bad Steve Walsh is not with the band anymore. Hope to hear more stuff like this from them,
Yes Steve was great but lost his voice hard to replace him.
He left the band because they were having differences of opinion over songs he was writing.
Sounds like Kansas, which means it sounds damn good!
Nice to see the shots of the Tennessee Theatre in this video. Go Knoxville and thank you Kansas for the new music!
I thought it was the Alabama when I first glanced at it! We have the same kind of sign :) Great that y'all have a beautiful old theater too!!
Nice seeing people I know in the crowd shots! I am SO happy for the band, they truly sound fantastic, and it reminds me of Kansas from back in the day.
Thats a very nice theatre, I would love to hear KANSAS there someday if they go back.
I saw a whole lotta movies there years ago.
Great sounding, fantastic song, exactly what I expect from a Prog-Rock band like Kansas! Very promissing album!
Kansas was ahead of their time, they don’t make bands like this anymore...
The first 30secs of this sounds like it came from Rush's Clockwork Angels album and there are hints of that sound throughout (bass lines and keyboards). Love this tune! Listened to this at least 10x already!
Amazing song. Very heavy but melodic with a lot of interesting musical changes. Just pre-ordered it from Amazon.
That is exactly what I thought as well!
First thought that popped into my head
I thought the same thing. Obviously lots of Clockwork Angels influence on this song.
Hot stuff! Kansas rules!
Saw that same Monolith tour in Tucson. Most amazing live show evah!
Monolith is an incredible album!!!!
Jon Hiller - There you go again, knowing it all.
@@crusheverything4449 I'm only repeating what has been said by the band members themselves, including the former members.
Reminds me of rhythm in the spirit! Love it already
The absolute definition of musical perfection.Kansas keep on being excellent 👍
Yes!!!!! That's the Kansas I know and love. Can't wait to hear the new album.
Holy Frijoles! These guys are getting better and better. Gotta have this.
They played my high school prom in Salina ks in1983
@Tony Rowan it wasn't the whole band and I don't care what you believe. We're you in kansas in 1983?
People are so fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to some incredible music never fading emotions that amaze us all.
stay home and listen to some Kansas people. 🤘🤘
This is awesome! I saw them in Sacramento 3 years ago. They should be in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame NOW.
Yep its time now.
Damn, even in this new iteration, they haven't missed a step. Wonderful sound from one of the all-time great bands!
Saw them for the first time live in 1979 on the Monolith tour... STILL kicking ass today
Last concert I went to was Kansas, Live at the Garden in Memphis. So fine, outdoors and great sound. Not a problem for this outfit! No bad seat, anywhere! Glorious and lovely! Happy I had the tickets and the time!
One of THE BEST bands of all time!😎🎸🎤✌
Agree!! 🙏❤️
Are you kidding me?! This sounds EPIC. Love it! And the lyrics rock too. BRAVO.
Too many times in the past
I tried to climb the mountain
But the inner voices laughed
Too many blocks in the road
I tried to find a new way
But there’s nowhere else to go
But now I silence the crowd
And nothing can stand in my way
Throwing Mountains to the sky
And the shadows reveal the horizon
Driving Oceans to the side
And my footprints will cross the divide
New pressures weighing me down
I want to take the first step
But I’m tethered to the doubt
Too many forces collide
This requires something bigger
Than confidence and pride
I won’t hold back anymore
Nothing can stand in my way
Too many time in the past
I ran toward the ocean
And I was frozen in my tracks
So many times on the path
I felt the power coursing
But the lighting didn’t last
But now the moment is here
Nothing can stand in my way
I want to congratulate you Phil and Rich - I will always treasure the years of Kansas with Steve (and John), Kerry, Dave and Robbie - but you've kept the magic and fire amidst these personnel changes, that is so VERY hard to do, but you've done it!
The preview snippets from a few weeks ago sounded tantalizing - and now this!! Epic, powerful song! The current lineup quite ably channels the authentic musical muscle and spirit of the original lineup while charting a promising course for the future. Kansas is a band and Kansas lives!
I can not say how happy i am to see Kansas like that again. So great!
This new stuff so reminds me of the Kansas classics from years ago. They haven't lost a step.
Classic rock perfection is now current rock perfection from Kansas again !!!
Miss Steve Walsh - but back to progressive root makes this a great tune!
I am so sorry about the vocalist of this album. Sorry :)
@@soeyanto9452 ...if this is your attempt to say that you dislike the "new" singer, Ronnie Platt, then you have no understanding of what true talent is. Steve Walsh is no longer in the band and is happily doing his own thing...get over it.
@@johncolling673 i couldn't get over it because the current line-up just like school boys try so hard to be their idol :)
@@soeyanto9452 I'll give you a pass since English is clearly not your first language, but what are you trying to say?
@@johncolling673 most of you want to give a credit what the current line up has done. It's OK. But don't praise it to high before you listen to "glimse of home" or "the closet cronicles", etc then you could realise how difference the quality is.
Great song.... they're still rocking it at 50....
The legend continues... May you all play long, loud and proud, for as long as you play, prog lives... For us who love the music you write and play, Kansas means "Bringers of Joy and Laughter through Music." I hope to see you play this new music soon. Virtuoso's all. "Play On..."
Four decades, three different lineups, still an amazing band.
Guys, i never heard about this band before, but i can tell you: I LIKE THEM SO MUCH!
This absolutely ROCKS!
Love It!! From a long time Kansas fan.
Powerful. All the Kansas markers are there. Can't wait for the record!
They are playing this on the current tour, what a great song!
These aren't clips of the band playing this new song, they were just edited together to look that way. Fantastic instrumental section! Thanks for the incredible music! 🎶😀🎵
The clip with them all sitting on stools playing acoustic pretty sure they're playing 'Dust in the Wind'.
I know that sound...I LOVE that sound! Bravo!
Too compressed for my liking, instruments need to breathe...
sounding great as always . i will never forget Kansas in concert long , long ago .
Wooow!!! I love it! This has all those great ingridents to make it classic Kansas hard rock song. Amazing! Waiting for the whole cd will be the hardest part now :-D. This really is PERFECTION.
Yep hurry and get it to us!!!
Hey guys, miss you ALL ! Ogre in Utah. Looking forward to the new albu,m.T he absence of presence !
Loved it! Can’t wait for the new album release 🎼
Kansas is forever one of my biggest bands in the world. I love you ;-)
Holy shit, the drums are fucking amazing, they sound so good after so many years, they've aged like a nice whine. such an awesome song, vocals are really really good
Sounds aweeeesome... the guitars, the violins, how the violin melts with the guitar in the crescendo part of the middle and the vocals are great.... worths the waiting!!
Some of their stuff from the 90s and 00s didn't resonate with me, but this and Prelude Implicit are fantastic. Loved seeing them in Pittsburgh in Oct 2018, and will try to catch them again after 'The Great Pause' has ended.
The Prelude Implicit is so beautiful, I love it.
I'm really excited to just find this.
#KANSASThrowingMountains #KANSASforRockHall2021
Some Key members were losing their passion but fortunately they inspired new musicians along the way that desire to keep this very fine band go on.
Alex Floate - Great name you just coined! (if you did-in fact-come up with that.) ‘The Great Pause’!
Scorchinscotty can't take credit...don't know who said it first, but it seems very appropriate.
Kansas is still a band!!!
Love this band even though they've had different line up throughout the years always still been good!
Love that kit Phil is playing!
I'd also like to add, Absence Of Presence is as good as anything you've ever done. Congrats guys.
How can you have heard it if it isn't out yet?
All I can say is....WOW!
A GREAT new collaborative effort from the Wayward Sons! Listen to this in a great pair of headphones about a dozen times or so. Compositionally, lyrically, and from both performance and production standpoints it is BADA$$! These guys AREN'T just dust in the wind.
Man o man! Love this track. Like a rollercoaster ride. All full of twist and turns and can't stop smiling though the whole song. Make me proud to be.the die hard Wheathead I am. Can't wait till June!
These guys just continue to prove they have it all for over 40 YEARS! See you August 26th in Virginia Beach!
The section starting at 3:18.....Phil is getting his china on!!! YEAH!!!!
This new Kansas is rocking very good again, congrats
Wow, simply awesome, the way Kansas has been and still is.....and looking forward to a concert here In Phx in the future!!!
Glad to know I saw them in New York live back in December!
Still the sound, and yet new. I am grateful to their new album. Lost love of and once again found. Thank you Kansas for once more of the love of music.
Epic song from an exceptional album!
This one will be a crowd favorite when touring resumes. The whole album is awesome and to experience it live will be amazing! KANSAS is a band!
I love these guys so much! I love this new song too! Wow! Some of the best concerts I have ever been to is their shows!
So needed to hear this today!!!!
I keep listening to this over and over it's so good. I'm such a huge can't stand with this song really knocks it out of the park I love it thank you guys for your hard work
My younger brother had me optimistically seeing the world and how music could impact the world in a more beautiful way.
Been waiting to hear from Kansas again...Great to hear them, Back At It!!
