It’s pretty simple actually…you either believe in a communist platform (liberal), or a traditional America platform (Conservative). History has proven which one is more favorable
@@jmanjman3916 There's a saying, "make everything as simple as possible, but no simpler". I think your comment goes pretty far into the oversimplification
Strange how this channel has never crossed my feed and it's exactly the content I'm interested in. Guess the algorithm only works properly for lefties.
It just came across my feed too and I'm a right-y. I am a fan of VDH though! Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat the stupid mistakes made in the past.
I really felt my coworkers would turn me in during Covid..if they could get promoted..if turning me in meant that my income (livelihood would end) or if I would go to jail or execution it would make no difference..as a culture we have decayed much more than we know..
It's always been like that. How many protestant grassed up their catholic neighbours to certain death for some trivial reason? Then we had the, "withhold medical treatment for lockdown opponents" and other attempts to dehumanise us.
I don’t think we’ve decayed, I think we underestimated our capacity for destruction. We have this unique (melting pot) society that hasn’t ever existed and we take it for granted because we’ve never known anything different. We only exist because we agree on a common morality which requires active maintenance. For the last few decades a segment of our population has been attacking our culture, trying to divide our united people into tribal groups with the oppressor vs oppressed narrative and we have allowed them do so unopposed. If we don’t stop them we only have ourselves to blame for the barbarism that follows.
The kid's simply learning from the master. Why are you such a prick about it? Anyone who can keep up with VDH has got to be an intelligent student of his.
VDH's comment that no one knows what's happening while it's happening sounds correct. No one in Britain in 1939 would have forseen the speed of her collapse after the events of WW2.
@@goodyeoman4534 I'm not sure anyone would have forseen it becoming bankrupt. Rationing lasted till 1954, the last country of all those involved in the war. I suppose the collapse of the four empires after WW1 was even more surprising. Reading the Sleepwalkers by Christopher Clark left me thinking that none of those people had a clue as to what was about to happen.
@@scottgraham1143 I think some would have foreseen it, or at least raised it as a remote possibility. Even back then, historians knew how to make a parallel to the fall of Rome.
@@lauralintonmacfarlane5264 The cyclic history theory is beyond simplistic and boring, Any fool know wars and economic fluctuations will repeat at various intervals.
@lauralintonmacfarlane5264: When I watched his interview this AM with a different interviewer I was already drawing parallels to what's happening in the world as we speak.
Unfortunately, students today are being told they are bad, Americans are bad. I am one of the college instructors that does not teach that. With the comfort the students live in and the oceans on each side cushioning them, the students have no idea of what the real world is outside of their vision is like and what we need to do to prepare for adversity. Preparation is not aggression. They don't understand this difference of thought.
I'm 70 years old and reside in Australia. I have been a student of history for 60 of those years, and from 1972, duly kept abreast of politics, both domestically and increasingly with foreign nuances. I have travelled to 51 countries, and been to and through the US, on 14 occasions. And whilst I don't pretend, let alone purport to be an oracle on anything, I can say I'm well versed on the machinations of VDH. Alas, the warnings that he makes about a plethora of things is skin to the biblical adage of, casting pearls before swine. Regrettably, the Western world, ostensibly with the US, Britain, and Canada are way past the point of salvation. This is due to a few coherences, but most significantly so due to mass non- discriminatory immigration programs, which have radically transmogrified their social fabrics. And this is diabolically proven with the hundreds of thousands of Muslims who have staged continuous pro-Palestinian rallies in England since late October. Meanwhile, the US, is embroiled in serious conflicts in Ukraine, and Gaza/Israel. As for defending Taiwan from Chinese aggression is as likely as catching bubbles that a child might blow.
Not sure about Iranians. They sent some very chip drones(they can produce with easy in industrial quantity) and old equipment to exhaust Israeli defence before they destroyed the real targets. Israeli and friends pretty well understood how costly further escalation could be.
This was a fascinating conversation, if I’m not mistaken the first time I was really intrigued by Thebes was in the original The Mummy 😂 I remember being very intrigued by the dialogue in the movie lmao

It was prophesied that the medo-persian kingdom be destroyed by Greece, or Alexander the Great. It is in the book of Daniel regarding the four kingdoms. The last and final kingdom is Rome, which started with the Caesars and continues with the popes.
Aside from the larger theme, I would like to discuss the aspect of WHY "people/citizens/etc" give up their living authority to an "ordinary man." Each one of us has only breath that allows us to continue in our lives. Is it fear, uncertainity, or coercion that defeats the basic human will to endure? Any one of these insane rulers that we are considering (and others) can be nullified by an act of clarity and purpose. Courage and determination can work to save a single life, or it might even save a civilization.
I admire the painting you have Mr. Erhardt in the background! I believe I have the identical same painting and frame as well. Do you know anything about this painter?
The comment on how when you just give people stuff and information they resent you, that's how I feel every time i see UA-cam put an auto context below a video
Another cerebral observation by VDH! Some of it is obvious, but it is presented in a way that stimulates ones thought processes. History is important in that our species are mere copies of our ancestors. So much damage has been done by the poor administrations in America, the Vietnam era forward that I think it irredeamable! Like the Titanic, we've seen the iceberg too late, the ship of state isn't agile enough to avoid it, & the crew is too haughty, & incompetant to save the day!
Mr. Hansen would be my choice for President. His knowledge and insight are so far above all of the current “politicians “ that it they seem to be children.
Submarines, Victor, submarines! We've already heard from CINCPAC that in the event of an attempted amphibious invasion of Taiwan that because of China's potent ship and shore based anti-ship missile forces, US carrier battle groups will have to be kept approximately 1,000 nautical miles east of the battle area. This dictates that all US and Allied tactical air assets will have to sortie from air bases ashore in Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Saipan, and Guam. The good news, if there is any, is that US and Allied fast attack submarines will be the decisive key to thwarting a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. First, subs will have laid potent anti-ship minefields in strategic grids guarding all avenues of approach to the severely limited suitable landing sites on Taiwan's coasts. Many of those mines may already be in place. Modern anti-ship mines can lie dormant for years waiting to be remotely armed when needed. It would take an enormous mine sweeping effort by a highly specialized fleet of vessels that the Chinese don't have, to clear a wide enough path for an amphibious flotilla to pass through en route to Taiwan. Secondly, the subs can easily torpedo and destroy most of a Chinese invasion force before it even reaches the open waters of the Strait, and then pick off any survivors at will. Detractors will point out that the Taiwan Strait is generally rather shallow for attack submarine operations, but attack boat sailors have told me that is not true. It would be more hazardous to operate offensively there, but not impossible. Thirdly, amphibious assaults are notoriously difficult to execute. The premier and currently only national practitioner of amphibious warfare is the US Marine Corps-US Navy team which has had a hundred years since the British debacle at Gallipoli to perfect the highly specialized shipping, weapons, and tactics to successfully perform an amphibious landing on a heavily defended island like Taiwan. The Chinese don't have the required specialized shipping they would need and aren't currently trying to build it. It's extremely unlikely that they could develop this capability in a matter of a couple decades, let alone the three to five years that is being talked about by US military planners. Right now the PRC's sham plan for transporting troops and combat vehicles to Taiwan is to use intercoastal commercial ferries which is risable to anyone who knows anything about amphibious warfare. In my opinion, the PRC is using its open threat of invading Taiwan as a political tool to intimidate the Taiwanese government into agreeing to peaceful unification with the mainland. I'm afraid that you and a lot of other foreign policy experts have been taken in by this Chinese ploy. US Naval War College Graduate and elective Submarine Warfare course.
Your analysis is better than his. My livelihood is deeply dependent on the situation in the pacific. Analysis predicts that American subs will be able to sink two to three large amphibious warships every 2.5 days and each sub will have a 20% chance of being sunk itself in these 2.5 days.
@@bathhatingcat8626 You don't say whose "analysis" predicts the loss of )friendly subs at one every 2.5 days. I totally scoff at that. First, amphibious ships would have to travel with other ships in a convoy protected by destroyers and other ASW assets such as patrol planes and Chinese submarines. Our submarines will destroy multiple ships with each single attack. This is not WWII where torpedoes were unguided and a "spread" of them were fired to sink a single ship. With modern torpedoes, one "fish" fired equals one target destroyed. They're that good and that lethal. Our subs would easily fire six to eight torpedoes nearly simultaneously, each fish individually targeted on a different ship with a nearly 100% probability of kill. It would be a free for all, something that generations of submariners dream of: "a target rich environment"! Secondly, the best anti-submarine forces in the world very seldom are ever successful in finding, much less attacking a stealthy nuclear powered attack submarine. The Chinese are far from being the best ASW forces in the world! In a hypothetical war against an amphibious Chinese invasion of Taiwan, I seriously doubt that the US submarine force would lose a single sub to enemy ASW action.
@@bearowen5480 youtube wont let me share a link. Search for “csis the first battle of the next war”. You’ll find a page where you can download the report.
You write all this like the Chinese themselves don't know and aren't either developing counters or have developed counters to mitigate loses. The United States is in no position at all to go to war with China and a different approach needs to be taken.

You can try to draw false equivalencies to the USA's many imperfections but they always fall apart upon close inspection.
for what purpose? great powers rarely find true alliances, the "China-Russia" alliance is pretty flimsy despite public perceptions in the west. Russia strategic and geopolitical concerns are completely orthogonal to the US's. We had decent relations with russia in say the '00s but it's never been close to anything resembling a true alliance
Would not usually listen to a guy with stupid tatts channelling the construction guy in the Village People and shows his pets live on screen during the interview, but VDH kept me here Good to listen to VDH as ever. China has 1,000 missiles but the US has 5,000 missiles but we still cannot safely deploy a carrier group into the Taiwan Straits
Professore, in my opinion, after listening to Yuval Noah Harari say: Russia will take part or all of Ukraine, but they won’t have it. The same applies to China, they will take Taiwan but won’t have it and North Korea will or could do the same with South Korea. Harari is stating that if China occupies Taiwan, they will gain a region without chip manufacturers after the battle. Similar to what Russia will get with Ukraine post conflict. I think if America is still here at the start of the 22nd century, it will be unrecognizable in every way from the year 2000; which examined retrospectively wasn’t that bad.
WW3 and WW4 will happen in this cycle which is the fourth cycle and after the fourth cycle starts again the first cycle, second, third, fourth and so on. All 80 years history is repeating itself. Good luck to all of you. ❤
VDH is my favorite political commentator and historian. Regards to China, I have my skepticism on their actual capabilities. They have yet to show aptitude in coordination of large-scale combined operations. Their so-called ace in the hole access denial weapon, ballistic missiles are unproven and reliant on a tenous kill chain highly vulnerable to countermeasures. Now, being able to bombard fixed targets in Taiwan, Guam, Philippines, and Japan might be problematic. PRC nukes are at 500, not a thousand, and their current doctrine does not emphasize it for offensive war to take Taiwan but rather for strategic nuclear deterrence that said could be a problem if their n7clear policy changes.
It sounds like if Victor had to arrange a UFC fights he would ask them how much they bench and award the fight to whomever has the higher score. If he should replace Dana UFC would become a formality more than an actual implementation of dominance. My point is this feels like side-stepping the problem instead of solving it, which is better than the problem hitting you in the face but still.

The same happened in Al-Andanlus, how was this example missed? Not only was it done once, the inquisition was mainly about rooting out any remnants and hidden believers. Not only is it a notable example, it probably is the most egregious one. It's what originated the idea of "whiteness". A "Blue Blood" was one whose blue veins were visible when they lift their arm facing the sun, unlike those who were "Moors", whose veins were either not visible or green. The extent of the identity suppression caused by the Spanish inquistioon can be illustrated by the example of Geronima of Zalemona, a Morisco mother who buried her son in the Muslim tradition after preventing the church personnel from burying him according to the Christian custom. She was subsequently pursued by the Spanish authorities and cut her tongue in order to not implicate her husband under torture. She was held under confinement and torture for two years, after which she was burnt alive in 1609.
And ? It was more populated than the yet to be civilised europe. Infact, the renissance was directly the result of the Toledo School of Translators which translated Arabic works. Even Architecture, as elaborated on from the book "Stealing from the Saracens"; Notre-dame for example, and the "Gothic" style in general traces back to Al-Andalus (The Visisgoths were rulers prior to the "Moors").
Excellent interview, very informative. On the lighter side, you with that cat has sort of Dr. evil look to it. I would not go with the cat for the next interview.

I really felt my coworkers would turn me in during Covid..if they could get promoted..if turning me in meant that my income (livelihood would end) or if I would go to jail or execution it would make no difference..as a culture we have decayed much more than we know..
I had friends who I never saw in different cities condemning me for refusing the shot. They went insane. It didn't take much.
Good for you both
It's always been like that.

VDH's comment that no one knows what's happening while it's happening sounds correct. No one in Britain in 1939 would have forseen the speed of her collapse after the events of WW2.
From the non-Anglo colonies it was obvious
A few would have. It was well-known the empire was very costly and increasingly difficult to manage and that one major war could see it collapse.
@@goodyeoman4534 I'm not sure anyone would have forseen it becoming bankrupt. Rationing lasted till 1954, the last country of all those involved in the war.

Another cerebral observation by VDH! Some of it is obvious, but it is presented in a way that stimulates ones thought processes. What are those mechanisms? We need to know what they are because none of us what war

You write all this like the Chinese themselves don't know and aren't either developing counters or have developed counters to mitigate loses. The United States is in no position at all to go to war with China and a different approach needs to be taken.

21:11 ''...why...?'': ...T.R. explained it forty years earlier: Speak softly and carry a big stick.
Fascinating
