I do remember going goat hunting on the BLM just down from Beaver Rim, south of Lander, back in the mid-eighties with my best friend, Woody. We were following a rutted road and I was scanning, while Woody was driving the truck. I spotted a good looking goat at what looked like an impossible distance, so I told Woody to keep driving very slowly while I kept an eye on the goat. As we got closer, the buck stared to act nervously, so I told Woody to stop the truck and get out on the side opposite the buck. There was a rise of a few feet between us and the buck, so we got down real low and just peeked over the rise while on our bellies. Woody said "I think I can get him, 'cause there's very little wind" (which is something you have to worry about on the plains of Wyoming). Woody had a Weatherby in 300 magnum, and I had loaded his ammo with 165 gr. Sierra spitzer BTs, so it was a very flat-shooting rifle. Woody took his time and fired his shot and the antelope just started running around in little circles for a few seconds, and then dropped! What blew us both away was that we paced off 667 paces to that goat! All Woody had done was to estimate holdover, but he got it right! Unfortunately, Woody has passed since, but I thank you guys for bringing back some precious memories of hunting here in our home State of Wyoming.

Great goats and hunt. I was glad you showed the lady who killed her first antelope. It was a classy thing to do. While staying in a lodge is not my speed, Four Horse looks like a great place to hunt. Again, congratulations!

Thank you for the kind words. We felt showing her was appropriate as everyone was excited for her. Four Horse is an excellent option for an easy to draw antelope hunt in Wyoming.

What model savage is the 7mm rem mag, I have been looking for a stainless in 7mm rem mag with threaded barrel and can’t find one.

That is the 110 Storm which I had threaded by Silencer Central in order to be able to use my Banish Backcountry suppressor.
