I have no idea who you are, or why you're gushing to a camera in a dark room. But well done. This is the most frenetic thing I've scene today, and wish you the best on your future video essays. Turn the light on next time.
Thank you!
The darkness will come and go.
While it is not first person we do learn at the end it is still a found document and not necessarily impartially reliable
Of course an astute reader will remember that earlier in the narrative Horn demonstrates his ability to do a perfect imitation of Silk. The short scene is then appreciated on another level after finishing Book of The Short Sun. A perfect little Wolfe moment.
I got here from watching videos on The Three Body Problem... I have never heard of this series, but color me intrigued.
That is a very interesting place to be. The Book of the New Sun is where you should set your eyes first.
The moment you mentioned perspectives, I figured that's what it was.
good silk! read book!
i pirated the book (can't afford importing, cause of where i live) and lucked out. it was the correct 'unedited' version. and that part was explosive haha.
Fishheads?
Can you be in a darker room next time? This one was much too bright 😂
Now I have to reread the entire series. Thanks.
#useful❤
I have to read these again. I remember it as a long slog of amazing world building w/ unreliable narrator riffing on classic tropes to incredible reveals, over and over.
But rereading Book of the New Sun has been so comfortable and rewarding, I haven't gone back.
Thanks for the nudge.❤
I was kinda worried you were going to reveal something I totally missed, but luckily, the audiobooks don't include the editor's error. Thankfully, I also managed to pick it up the first time around, and it definitely was a totally mindblowing recontextualization. Gene was incredible, maybe the greatest author who ever lived for my money, certainly the best of our time. Great video, I'll be anxious for more. 😊
saw your first video a few weeks ago. running into you again, and gotta say i definitely would love to see what other book recs you may have
Great video!! I read the whole solar cycle last year and was blown away. Silk Horn Severian I love it all! Unfortunately I got the orb edition but honestly idk if I would have caught it.
Nice one
