Gene’s stories at the old dock and the cemetery are priceless. How incredible that the band members are placed in the cemetery as they were positioned on stage!
Gene has been one ace of a life time friend to Ronnie. He's thought and kept him alive since the day he found out Ronnie was gone. He's one in trillions that's left. If only all men was like him.

My wife and I visited the graves of the Lynyrd Skynyrd band members in Jacksonville, Florida after we saw your video. We knew where Ronnie's original gravesite was, but didn't know where he had been moved to. We both went to Robert E. Lee High School and my wife had Gary Rossington in one of her classes. I remember the coach Leonard Skinner being there during our time there also. I graduated in 1967 and my wife graduated in 1969. Thank you so much for your video and all of your other interesting and fun videos! We just made our visit to the Riverside Memorial Park location on December 28, 2020. We found Ronnie's, Billy Powell's, Leon Wilkeson's, and Allen Collins's grave sites. I just wanted to let you know that your guitar pick was still on Allen Collin's memorial marker.
Really generous of Gene Odum to share his memories. His first hand accounts are an invaluable source material for future Rock and Roll historians. Thank you Jordan - a uniquely special Vlog.
Jordan, I learned so much today about one of the best bands ever. I started to tear up when you were asking Gene about the plane crash. Seems it was hard for him to talk about. What a blessing it is to have someone who really knows the facts. Gene is a wonderful man. So happy we got to hear his story :)
He also has a black belt so...he can definitely hold his own too if he had to. He likes going over to the Bono's bbq places on the west side where the cemetery is at.
What an AMAZING vlog!! I was in high school at the height of their career and while I love Rossington Collins & 38 Special, Skynyrd will always be THE band and I still crank it up when I hear them on the radio. Thank you so much for this, Jordan & Gene. God bless him for keeping their memory alive.
Dying at the height of their success catapulted them into rock and roll immortals. Only few names are staples in every genre and when you think of southern rock there is no other band that embodies that more that lynrd skynrd.

Yes indeed. My first concert was Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Texas in Nov. '76. Pretty special. It's been quite an interesting journey to find out how great RVZ was as a songwriter and finding out how many songs that weren't really played on the radio, but we're great. "Comin' Home, Am I Losin,"Need all My Friends, Michelle, Woman of Mine."
All I can say is “wow.” What a great vlog. I was hanging on every word when Gene was describing the crash. Amazing that he survived. Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of a kind. Thank you so much for this vlog.
I’m lucky I found this video because it was full of priceless information about the band. Obviously Gene is still in Security Mode protecting his friends. What a legacy ❤❤❤❤
Bless his heart, what a wonderful vlog. Thank you to Gene for his stories. I can see the sadness in his face when at the gravesites as if he's reliving the moment and the good friends he lost, it must be hard even after all this time. Especially when one survives and others do not. Thank you both for a really informative, interesting, and touching tribute.
Gene Odem, you are a National Treasure for sure! Thank you & Jorden for this wonderful tour! Loved all the knowledge you guys have of Lynyrd Skynyrd, & all the band members & families! Would love to go on a tour, & love those shirts!
I remember this event. My friend had just bought the "Street Survivors" album and the crash happened and they pulled all those flamed albums off the shelves. Thanks to Mr. Odom for the story.
I didn't hear of this before. Thanks for the tidbit. Every little piece of info adds to history. I'm a huge Skynyrd fan. They were taking the old plane one last time before they got the new jet.
This was an epic Daze With Jordan the Lion. Not only was a deep dive in a legendary band but a guided tour from a life-long friend of the band. Amazing.

Some fascinating stories from Gene, he is very real and just tells it like it is, I could tell how emotional he was when talking about the crash, he was so lucky to survive it Good job keeping the memories of this great band alive!
One of my favorite bands. Thank you Jordan for creating this vlog and Gene for his sharing sites, stories and his emotions. I have family in Jacksonville. It is a place where families stay together and friends stay friends for life, much loyalty and down to earth people. Such as Gene is who is the earth angel watching over the band member's lives lived and their amazing contribution they gave to the music industry forever. I was so touched by your vlog Jordan.

This is amazing. I remember that sad day of the accident. It's all anyone talked about. Always loved that band. Besides loving Lynyrd Skynyrd, if you've never heard the Rossington Collins Band, especially their album "Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere", it is one of the classic albums of all time. I still play it.

Hi Jordan, what a great little tour, and great seeing all those original homes. I don't know how people can break into people's grave's, it is so unbelievable what people will do. That piano grave of Billy Powell was just amazing. Frightening hearing about the crash first hand, you felt like you were in it yourself. What a lovely guy Gene is. Great vlog Jordan.

I’ll have to show my mom this video. Lynyrd Skynyrd is her favorite band and she saw them play many times in the 70s. I think she would really enjoy watching this.
This is the best tour possible, and for posterity. Gene patiently answered traumatic questions about the plane crash. That was very nice of him. Thank you, Gene.

Thank you Jordan and Mr. Gene for the great vlog, CLASSIC. To be able to talk about tough events for the sake of HISTORY being correct,Mr. Gene was priceless. Stay safe everyone, wear a mask. Much love from Jacksonville Fla.
That man knows all the ins and outs of Lynn’s Skynyrd! Were you a little nervous in that vehicle Jordan?! The door kept opening and it sounded like it was breaking apart😂
Jordan, this is amazing vlog. Thanks to you and Gene Odom for taking us to all of the historic places to one of my all time favorite bands, Leonard Skinner. Gene Odom seems like the care taker for their graves.
What a sweet man. It’s nice when you can talk with people who were there and present at happenings that otherwise we would not know or have the real story.
I just wanted to mention to you I've been subscribed to your channel for quite a while I'm now going back getting to watch some of the older videos that you have done and you got one with you and your grandpa or you went to the grave of Joe Nuxhall and Cincinnati Reds Crosley field replica which I think was great I got to go see the last game play there it was a late birthday present cuz my birthday was June 10th and I believe it was played the last game was played the 24th of June 1970 so anyway your grandpa's awesome love to see that anyway keep up the great work that you're doing I am a big fan and I just wanted you to know that and I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated that video that you done about Joe Nuxhall and Crossley feel with your grandfather he's awesome thank you again
Nice video and what a great knowledgeable guy Gene is. Not many people like to personally share their stories. Good luck to him. Although lucky to be alive, his loss must have deeply effected him for decades. Such a sad loss.
What a Sweetheart Gene was to you and his memory is amazing! I have got to try to get some shirts from him. I lived in Jax, Florida for many years and I don’t know why I never went to visit these places but Thank you for sharing them with us! I am a SKYNYRD FAN from way back❤️🙌🏼🙌🏼
Breaking into someone's grave is a disturbing and disrespectful thing to do. There's no telling what they would have done with the remains ,if they would have gotten away with it.
Thank you Jordan and Gene, I know this is 3 years old, but I just saw it today. I grew up with LS and this brought back a lot of memories. I am over 65 years old, and I was fortunate to have seen the original 1975 LS lineup live. What a show. There is still a band out there calling themselves LS even though not one original band member is alive today. That is just wrong.
This is probably one of your best video, good investigative and precise. In fact one of the top 10 videos on You tube, and I'm not really a Skinard fan that much. But very good
King David Here Love this I love in Jacksonville Florida now some of the things this about & Love Jordan show Big Fan !!! You drove by my house so cool.👍😎💥🔥
Amazing video, legendary band, great back stories by Gene Odom, just, wow! I am so glad UA-cam decided to put your channel in my recommendations, Jordan, I subbed immediately!
Wow! thanks, I grew up listening to Skynyrd and the plane crash was less than an hour drive from my home town.... I visit the memorial sight each chance I get.... thanks , see you tomorrow 👍✌️👍✌️👍
Man,I never got to see those boys but sure loved them. I’m now 65 and I play their music on my phone when grocery shopping and you wouldn’t believe the amount of people who have stopped me just to say hey and listen while we chat. The Leon Russell portion was such a surprise, loved Leon as well. I was glued to my seat for the whole vlog. No shit, maybe the best vlog I have watched to date. You do good work son, I hope you get recognized for it down the road. Stay safe and thank you so much. Dean, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada
Jordan!!! This is GOLD!! This really is an amazing vlog! Wow...You do wonderful vlogs but this one...so so good! I love so many of their songs...One song ' Simple Man' is a song for my son. Thank you so much...you have outdid yourself! Thank you Gene!!
Thanks for a great vlog. Brought back a lot of memories. I used to doodle this Lynyrd Skynyrd image of skull, w cowboy hat and aviator glasses all over my notebooks in High School...
{aka} DJ Whisper ~ Thankyou so much for this. Amazing story! I was raised on their music, I was born in 1964....Still rock out to their classics today. This group as well as many other 60's & 70's groups formed my love for music and singing. Still a DJ today and these guys are a big part of my lineups. Can't get enough of the true stories of those we love who have passed on. Thanks again. 💜
I’ve only heard a couple of their songs, but this was still very interesting and informative. What a delightful man...he reminds me of one of my late grandpas. When he had mentioned “RC Cola and moon pie money money” I thought of Tracy Byrd’s song - and visiting my grandma’s house in the summers as a child.

Thank you Jordan and Mr. Gene for the great vlog, CLASSIC. To be able to talk about tough events for the sake of HISTORY being correct,Mr. Gene was priceless. Stay safe everyone, wear a mask. Much love from Jacksonville Fla.
Greatest band of their time. I can only imagine what could have been if their time hadn't been cut short.
That man knows all the ins and outs of Lynn’s Skynyrd! Were you a little nervous in that vehicle Jordan?! The door kept opening and it sounded like it was breaking apart😂
Nah, thats part of it all.. if I go, I go
@@DazewithJordantheLion that's what I've read that Ronnie Van Zant
told Cassie Gaines when she voiced her concern about the plane!
@@ninabranson7821 whoa!
I thought the same thing lol. I was thinking too bad the car's so loud that you can't concentrate on what he's saying as well.
@@ninabranson7821 he did
Amazing vlog Jordan. Amazing that he survived the crash. I was just watching a documentary video about Lynard Skinard about a week ago.
Jordan, this is amazing vlog. Thanks to you and Gene Odom for taking us to all of the historic places to one of my all time favorite bands, Leonard Skinner. Gene Odom seems like the care taker for their graves.
Misspelled the bands name.
@@karentucker2161 Glad you don't make mistakes
What a sweet man. It’s nice when you can talk with people who were there and present at happenings that otherwise we would not know or have the real story.
Loved this!!! Gene is an amazing steward keeping the truth alive of some of the most important music ever made!! Great video!!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, THANK YOU BOTH FOR AN INCREDIBLE TOUR !!!
Fantastic! My favorite band ever! Thank you so much Jordan and Mr. Gene Odom! 🎸❤
Gene is fascinating!! I loved this so much, thank you! ❤
I am a SKYNYRD FAN from way back❤️🙌🏼🙌🏼
What a treat Jordan this was amazing ! Thank you Gene for telling your stories .
Allen Collins & Gary Rossington are just a few guitarist out of MANY others that influenced me to play guitar
This vlog was pure gold Dude! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was an exceptional video. You have had quite a few stellar ones, Jordan, but I am pretty sure this one is top-3 material. Thanks.
very interesting loved this cemetery tour, listening to gene and yourself, showing all respect
Breaking into someone's grave is a
disturbing and disrespectful thing to do. There's no telling what they would have done with the remains ,if they would have gotten away with it.
Excellent! It was surely a sad time when we lost them and their stellar music but glad there were some survivors. Great vid Jordan.
But very good
Thank you Jordan and Gene for this tour 💙
This was a nice tour and information from Gene. There is no music even today like the original Lynyrd Skynyrd! Southern rock is great!
That's the best Lynyrd Skynyrd tour and vlog I've seen.Gene is so nice
Tomorrow's ain't bad either :)
I saw Skynyrd in '75 n enjoyed them immensely ,still do.
i really enjoy your vids, been recuperating from surgery, so i've been binging...thanks
David Lackey good luck with your recovery. Get well soon ❤
King David Here Love this I love in Jacksonville Florida now some of the things this about & Love Jordan show Big Fan !!! You drove by my house so cool.👍😎💥🔥
So glad you were able to do vlog with Gene Odom. Very interesting. M. Belinda Davis in NC
Amazing video, legendary band, great back stories by Gene Odom, just, wow! I am so glad UA-cam decided to put your channel in my recommendations, Jordan, I subbed immediately!
RIP "Freebirds" .... loved me some Lynyrd Skynyrd. Still do.....their songs will live on forever. What an awesome vlog Jordan, thanks.
At last my favourite band, thanks Jordan the Lion, luv from Scotland, they were amazing, x
Wow! thanks, I grew up listening to Skynyrd and the plane crash was less than an hour drive from my home town....
Thank you very much
Great Video. Those boys were great musicians & also great Confederate supporters for the Southern Cause.
I’ve been asking for this one for a while. Thank you!
Me too! Thanks Jordan
I’ve been to their graves about 4 years ago. My sister lives there and her husband is a Jacksonville native. Very cool to see this video.
love this stuff, thanks man!!!
Thanks for a great vlog. Brought back a lot of memories. I used to doodle this Lynyrd Skynyrd image of skull, w cowboy hat and aviator glasses all over my notebooks in High School...
Girl i used to draw Skynyrd all over my notebooks too! Then everyone wanted theirs done & I got in trouble by teacher! Thanks for your memory😝
This is wonderful. So much history, thank you for sharing.
Jordan what a perfect vlog very emotional and I love Lynyrd Skynyrd ! So much thanks for my shirt it holds so much major significance for me ! Getting Gene on your vlog was incredible from the King of You Tube you rule !!!
