    Best review I've seen!
    I owned a 2005 KLR and really liked it and looking forward to a 2022 / 2023! I just wished "Kawi" offered some better paint choices ...not really a fan of these new colors!
    Thanks!

    Great bike! I just bought a 2022 w/70miles and I love it. Perfect bike for the type of riding I do. Love the color of yours, but couldn't pass up getting a basically new bike for just over 5k. Anyone complaining about the bike, well sell it and buy something else.

    I'm considering a klr and appreciate your info. The budget part to justify if you should spend the is very real for me with that said on the crash bars I think you should think along the line of what is the cost of fixing the bike against the cost of the crashbars for me its a cheap insurance policy. Enjoy your bike thats whats important.

    I can reliability get 220-230 miles and when i fill up i seem to have a gallon left even after it's been flashing for a while. I pushed it once and hit 264miles before I put more fuel in. On the Hwy i start flashing around the 180 mark however i just installed the 16t sprocket so ill be interested to see if there's a noticable improvement in range. Cheers.

    Nice mods. Did you change the cable routing with the bar risers / high bar mod: I added a set of 2" Rox Risers and had to pull the clutch cable behind the triple clamp to reach and the throttle cables too. Also had to release the front brake hose from the clamp on the lower triple tree. What am I missing??? Your's looks like the cables are all routed like from the factory. Thank you.

    There was some comment I read about how new motorcycles are limited and governed at certain speed before a certain amount of break in miles. Not sure if it was KLR or some adventure motorcycle. Perhaps the new 2023 model is fuel injected and that's why it's governed to 55 mph after break in period.

    anyone getting upset because of what tires you are running or b/c you don't have crash bars are really pretty pathetic people and maybe we should figure out a way to get them some help. 1st thing would be for them to stay away from a Kawasaki KLR, we don't need dorks riding the same machines we ride.

    I was just at a local shop looking at a 2023 KLR and they are listing them at almost $8k before tax, title, dealer prep, destination charges etc. So inflation has now drove this bike to a price point beyond what your getting for the price. It would be over $9k out the door and that’s for the base model! Well over MSRP 😢
    For that money I may as well save a little longer and buy a more capable bike.

      2023 has $1000+ price increase plus freight surplus fee from 2022 depending on variant. Inflation and higher costs passed to consumer. Try to find 2022, which are being discounted heavily as dealers loose money on them every month. Kawasaki $500 rebate until 3/31 +$250 military. Never buy current model year or shame on you. Last day of month in winter. BTW made in Thailand, not Japan, so check bikes over very carefully before leaving lot. Get windshield and headlights adjusted to your tastes. Get extra oil filter, oil change at 600 miles, and touch-up paint thrown in for free. I always get those.

      @@billbonu1639 yea I was really worried about that, with no license the dealer will not let you test ride lol, no matter how much experience you have. So I got the vstrom 650 and it pushes my fat ass 80 mph with plenty of throttle left. I'm sure I can go over 100 with it but I'm still breaking it in lol. I'm happy with my decision. With 75mph speed limits I wanted something that wasn't going to struggle. I bet that cb500x would be a good city bike going from red light to red light. But I live in the country so when I get on the highway I have to go or get ran over lol. Thanks.

    Actually the stock bars are very good. The seat is not that great, The stock mirrors are actually very good, No need to change them. You don't want to over load the KLR with too much crap because it doesn't have the power to counter act the weight. I ride mine all the time on short rides, When I go on a long ride I ride my Goldwing. Now when I owned my Super Tenere, Yes you can go for miles and miles without getting the monkey butt. The stock foot pegs work great for me. The KLR is not a real dirt bike so be carful. I had two fuel pumps go bad. So I rebuilt the fuel and went with a different fuel pump and so far so good.

    I don't know how heavy you are, but I'm 230 lb 6 ft 5, and my 2023 KLR 650 would leave yours in the dust. When you show the acceleration that was terrible. Maybe it's the video or short shifting but I doubt it. Your bike didn't even sound like it was trying as hard. After seeing that part of the video if that were my bike I would be looking at the throttle linkage to make sure you're actually getting Full Throttle. In first gear if I snap the throttle and hold it I will flip the bike over backwards. Second gear it won't exactly get it up enough to ride a wheelie but will hold a torque wheelie for the first second or so of second gear. In second if I dump the clutch I can definitely ride a wheelie. But my bike can get up to 90 mph pretty damn fast. I don't know how far off the speedometer is but it tops out at 98 mph. It's weird though, it gets to 90 really quick and then kind of drags that last 8 miles an hour.

    • @NitroBassZ21
      @NitroBassZ21 2 роки тому +1

      I agree. I have 2023 as well. Very fast. I was shocked because I was expecting it to be much slower. From what I understand, the 2023s have a taller 5th gear so this would account for the higher end difference from previous years. Never rode an earlier year, however. I was really reluctant buying this because of talk of lack of power. Not only am I not disappointed, but I'm so happy with the excelleration on freeway. Especially the pull from 75 mph to 90 mph. I'm 230 lbs. as well. 6'2". So, if the bike in the video is a 2022 model, then there is a big difference between the 2022 and 2023. This is great information for those looking to buy. Looks like I accidently got lucky because I almost bought a left over 2022 just would have saved $500. Decided against it last minute.

    • @nathan00campbell
      @nathan00campbell 2 роки тому

      @@NitroBassZ21 the odometer reads correctly but the speedometer reads about 4 mph fast. I just installed a 16 tooth front sprocket and it makes a beautiful difference on the bike if you're a Highway Rider. It didn't seem to affect first or second gear at all it's unnoticeable if it did. The speedometer is now 1 mph slow at 30 mph and 1 mph fast at 70 mph. Even with the 16 tooth sprocket giving it the taller gears it has absolutely no trouble getting up and going and I can still ride a wheelie all the way through first. The bike in that video either has something wrong with it or he's intentionally making it look bad.

    • @billbonu1639
      @billbonu1639 2 роки тому

      My 22 will roll out if you ring it's neck a little bit.about mid way through each gear it sounds like someone is tapping on the motor with a hammer to me if I really pay attention.doesnt use burn oil, oil smells fine and there's no metal in it or anything so I'm thinking it's just a klr thing.all motors have their own little sounds, especially big singles.im thinking it's a lower compression detonation type sound.anyway I'm going to ride it through the warranty period and then decide if I want to keep it or not.right now I'm kinda on the fence.within a year I should be able to tell if it's a keeper.
