We're not going to lie, we felt a little nervous watching the carving phase! Spilled ink doesn't scare us one bit, though, as many gallons of gesso we've cleaned up in our stores. We're sincerely impressed with the results you got! If this fun eraser craft makes you want to try something on a larger scale, there are pink rubber blocks made expressly for carving, that work pretty much like this. Another variation that could make things interesting: color the carving surface with a black marker so you can see the light lines appear in real time!
We actually did this in art at school with erasers, the pointy end of a paper clip, and markers as the ink and it turned out pretty good! You should take this into consideration!❤
This has just made my head explode! I’ve wanted a specific size rectangle stamp (or stencil) that I’ve not been able to find anywhere. No idea why I never thought of this before. Thanks so much for the idea ❤
So true, creating almost the best feeling. For giving my creations away. It's hard to beat the feeling of when you give someone something you have put your heart and soul into. Very neat. Thanks for sharing 👍.
I imagine my fingers looking as if they were attacked by a cheese grater if I tried this. Like the strips of eraser bits that look a bit like grated carrots. You're so brave! It IS really satisfying seeing the thin strip of eraser bits slowly sliced away in neat little strips, but I do not think mine would look like that. More likely, I and all the tools and everything around me would be "painted" in my blood. 😁Your stamps turned out super cute! ❤💯
Great idea ! I don’t have erasers I don’t use, but some thic Lino trash pieces. Maybe that will work to. That paint brush is so cute, and I love the tip about sketching the words on paper and ‘printing’ them on the eraser to have them in the other direction ! Have a nice day
Linoleum blocks were once Navy ship linoleum floor pieces after WWII. Hard to carve but worth the effort. Real task is to carve letters . You use carbon paper or write the word and pencil shading on the back and trace the letters.
I don't know if anyone said, but some safety thoughts! I've done some whittling in the past, and I always use a cut resistant glove for my non-knife holding hand. However, you can even just getting those self adhesive bandage wraps you can use for holding gauze on cuts and stuff and wrap them a few times around certain fingers. I would use the glove on my non-knife hand, and then the hand holding the knife I'd wrap the wrap around my thumb and between my first and second knuckle on my forefinger. No matter how careful you are, mistakes will happen so be careful with your fingers!
Oh I had such a lot of good memories connected to lino carving and it was so nostalgic for me to sit here watching you carve away. Thank you for posting this wonderful video. Also thank you for the inspiration. I just might get into carving again. It was a great deal of fun in school! God bless you and your loved ones. Have a great weekend!
I actually saw a bulk pack of erasers yesterday while I was looking at Amazon and was soooo tempted to do this. I’m not experienced enough with stamping to do it but I love this video so so much!!!!!!
Smiling the entire time as I was watching you as I swatched my Watercolors and enjoying your honest and happy reactions! These look amazing Mira! TYSM for sharing!
Oh man, this is taking me back to my college days! I took a bunch of printmaking classes and I loved them! Easiest A grades I ever got! I should dig out my old lino cutter and do this! 😊
I love that you have 2 boxes of erasers in front of you and instead of using one to actually... erase, you just scratched out the art fam that was too long. That was cute.
I have used different markers as an ink by scribbling on a glass desktop (a mirror would work also), then wiping up the color with the stamp. This had a nice effect of being able to get different shades of color.
I like linocut art a lot so this is pretty neat. Not sure I could work that small personally at least not yet. Over all they turned out cute. I hope you have fun using them. Love the dramatic music for the ink pad refill lol.
Omg this is such a great idea! They turned out so cute, and I am loving the energy in this video, you really make it feel like we're chilling and crafting together ❤️
I’ve done some eraser, linoleum, Speedball Easy Carve pink rubber carving blocks and some white carving blocks called “Moo Carve.” I really enjoy it and it’s fun and challenging to do your own designs. Like so many creative pursuits, it takes time to build your skills and work with the tools. It’ll be great to see your designs!
Mira, there's a tool thing (I forget what it's called) which is basically two pieces of wood at a right angle - like the corner of a picture frame - with a flat base beneath. It means you can wedge your eraser or lino block into the corner so it won't slide or move while you are cutting, making it safer. I think it has little silicone feets on the underneath so it sticks to the desk/table. You should definitely get one if you are enjoying this so you don't end up with a cutting tool stuck in your hand (trust me, it stinkin' hurts!! 🤣) Love the adorable stamps! I have circular stamp sized lino pieces which I got with a second set of cutting tools which would be perfect for this. I also have about a million erasers from Scrawlrboxes and Artful boxes which now have a use! Thanks! Have a great day/evening etc (not sure of the time difference between you and the UK but it's currently 11.30pm so I shall wish you a goodnight! 🙋🏻♀️🌃🕦🌛⭐️🌠🌌🛌
You could probably make a removable handle by using a cork, hot glue, and some sort of flexible material to latch on. Then you can add it to whichever stamp you're using at a given time
I just thought of something. Instead of carving into the eraser, try drawing on top of it with glue. When the glue dries, the lines will be raised, and that image will be transferred onto the paper. I don't know if you could use a toothpick as your brush, or which type of glue will work the best, But this just popped into my head while watching you draw your coffee cup. Yay, art!
we did the stamp project my sophomore year in high school in art class, he had us use decently sized rubber blocks and those tools in video, then we spread ink paint on them and used these little rolly things to spread off excess paint and made prints. it was so much fun!
Scanned and didn’t see anyone mention this but I do stamping to make cards and stuff and the way I ink a stamp would be to flip the stamp face up and sort of tap or blot the ink on top. This lets you cover as big a stamp as you have!
came across this channel love this channel already yes I subscribed liked and comment and now I'm going to watch the other content 👏😍 I'm inspired 😁👩🏽🎨
If you want a cheaper experience with stamp making then you can definitely use erasers. But, the problem is about the size you want to carve. You won't be able to find a big sized eraser, but you can use the same sized eraser that Mira used. Today i tried this out, and not gonna lie it was super fun to carve out my own art on erasers. I'm sure this will be easy for you rather than buying normal ones.
For something this small with such fine details, I definitely use exacto-knives! If you delicately carve at an angle you can crate V-like patterns and take the rubber off bit-by-bit.
I love making eraser stamps. This was fun to see. I do need a proper set of lino cutters though, my cheap set doesn't have small enough sizes to carve more detailed images. I really want to get some stamp pads too, to get different colours.
Cute stamps! Such a clever idea. Not sure I'm dexterous enough to try it. There will be blood, no doubt. BTW, we are vibing because just as I took a sip of coffee, you said, "Coffee time" 6:52 😮 P.S. I think I like the first version of the mushroom stamp, too. The paint brush is my fav. ❤

OMG I didn't know Blick had a UA-cam channel! I love blick materials and the stores are awesome 😄
@@ltlove63 We agree!
@@icyvids93 Thank you!
Wow woah
I loved the video, Mira! My favorite is the coffee mug! 💕
This looks like so much fun! Stamps can be so expensive and this seems like a more affordable alternative.
And you can customise them!
This is the first video I’ve watched of you and i gotta say, your eyes are beautiful!
We actually did this in art at school with erasers, the pointy end of a paper clip, and markers as the ink and it turned out pretty good! You should take this into consideration!❤
I believe this is what they did during the War at POW camps to forge papers and stamps!
Thank you for sharing this adorable craft. I so appreciate your joy as you create. thank you for sharing it with the rest of us. :-) blessings.
Love the paint brush.
This has just made my head explode! I’ve wanted a specific size rectangle stamp (or stencil) that I’ve not been able to find anywhere. No idea why I never thought of this before. Thanks so much for the idea ❤

carving art into erasers to make stamps is genius ! they came out SO CUTE
You are so much fun to watch! Happy stamping 😁👍
As a left handed person, I am so happy I found a UA-camr that is left handed, also you are so funny and I just love your videos!
Just started watching you and the first two things I thoughts were, she is so pretty! And I love your hand writing

Those are such good ideas I just absolutely love that!
Great stamps. Love the Mushroom one, (before and after alteration, liked a smidge better before).
As so so so many times before, you made a tough day, less tough. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you❤️
I think you can use watercolor as your "ink". Those are tiny canvasses to carve on!
A water soluble marker works too!

I just love your videos. So upbeat, fun and educational
These little eraser stamps are so cuuuuuute!!! ❤
You did a great job and you make me want to give it a try.
Thanks, Mira 😊
Mira, you should do more videos like this where you make stamps using erasers that you’re carving.
Such a cute paintbrush! Feeling the inspiration

@@MiraByler you are most welcome ☺️

If you carve little notches into the sides of the stamp, you could probably design the latch mechanism to slot into those
I just thought of something.

Hi👋, I just love your crafting🙂💖
entertaining as always Mira, thank you for making me smile :)
Gosh the nostalgia. I used to do this with all of my erasers in elementary school, except the patterns never looked quite so good.

Thanks for making me smile 😊
Omg I love this!!
I've done this before, it's super fun!
There goes Mira smelling everything 😂Love you Mira!❤
2:01 YES! DO NOT CARVE TOWARDS YOURSELF DONT CUT TO YOURSELF WITH ANYTHING( unless for very specific things
If i tried this it'd look like i had a fight with Edward Scissor Hands. All looks so sharp!
I love your videos so much!
That is...brilliant. And adorable.
Me wondering when this was filmed... ordered something semi recently, so it'd be fun to get a cute little stamp art ☺️😊
This exceeds cutting-Barbie-doll-hair level of satisfying.
The stamps are really cute the 🍵 is my favorite
Hero brand ink in the scrapbooking /paper craft section of your local art store is fun for stamping in my opinion. 😍
That’s such a cool idea!
I love making eraser stamps. This was fun to see. I do need a proper set of lino cutters though, my cheap set doesn't have small enough sizes to carve more detailed images. I really want to get some stamp pads too, to get different colours.
the first mushroom version is my top favorite of all stamps
