I totally agree with your Luthor take on enjoying him when he's a good guy. However, I think this subversion only works on people who have gotten so used to seeing Lex as an antagonist. Seeing him turn coat, so to speak, comes as a pleasant surprise.
Lex is one of DC's best and most iconic characters, which is strange because he's just a handsome bald guy.

I agree that Luthor (and General Zod) have been used too often for Superman movies but using Vandal Savage in their place? Vandal isn't even a Superman villain.
This is on the same level of the cancelled Batfleck movie with Deathstroke as the main villain.
Vandal is an Alan Scott's villain or (in a more broad way) a JSA villain.
I get it that, due to the very poor popularity of these characters, it wouldn't be so easy for Vandal to appear on the big screen but why Superman has to take him when he has so many other villains that need a big screen appearance? Brainiac, Parasite, Metallo, Bizarro, Toyman, Manchester Black, Mongul, Mr.Mxyzptlk, Livewire, Atomic Skull, Silver Banshee etc.

Lex is my favorite character. He was best with baby Leena as the only person he cares about, and I liked when he his DNA was with Superman's DNA, like he was Conner's dad. I liked him as sort of a human supremacist after Final Crisis

I know this was a few months ago so making this point is probably moot. But at the end, you said "if" it was canon that Luthor was good and joined the Justice League. Which was weird to me because you showed some of the art from the New 52 Justice League, which is canon, where Lex was good for a time and was an official member of the League.

I see Lex as DC's Bolivar Trask.
He wants all aliens to know that humans are supreme, this is our planet, and he will stop them from conquering earth purely through human ingenuity.
Additionally, he wants to be the most impressive man, and usually saving the earth is part of that goal.

I ❤ Lex Lurhor because of his intelligence, inventions, and his ability to LEAD a group of supervillains. He's able to get them to do follow him and fo his bidding. That says a lot because there is no honor amongst thieves OR supervillains. They'll turn on each other in a second. To me, that's very impressive! In other, he finds a way to get what he wants, through either manipulation or mobey.

As a kid, I always hated that Lex would get away at the end or escape from Arkham or prison or where ever he was being kept. But I soon realized that without a great criminal, you can't have a great superhero!

Have Lex help Superman defeat Brainiac and Darkseid, he exploits it to become president. If Lex becomes president in your second saga then you gotta be careful that Lex doesn't get arrested or caught for his actions in the first saga.

  • @comicfan1324

If Lex wanted to become president, I feel like he would find a way to turn the public against superheroes and then use that as a way to get into office by promising to handle the situation.
Lex Luthor would hire a group of super villains and give them technology that he says will increase their powers… But in actuality, their glorified bomb vests. During the fight, Lex waits for the perfect moment, and when Superman throws a punch or uses his heat vision, he detonates the bombs and levels a city block, Spins the story so that it was caused by the incompetence of Superman and then uses it to support a campaign of outlawing people like the justice league altogether so that Lex can continue his under the table criminal empire on interrupted.
Or, even if he doesn’t want to look at it from the criminal perspective, I bet he would just love messing with Superman by making him public enemy number one and turning the public against him
(also, this shouldn’t have to be said, but I feel like in today’s world, this has to be emphasized: this is not supposed to be a political message. This is a look at what a super villain would do if they were given a position of power I’m not suggesting they write the story to demonize any particular person or party. At most the story would have an element of “analyze situations beyond the surface level and question what you’re being told.” That’s it.)

I agree with Clancy Brown being the best lex Luther, he embodies the character very well. I also saw someone mention once how Lieb Shreiber would be a good Lex and I honestly see it, Lieb has the class and charisma that I see the character having in my head. The Eisenberg and Hoult versions seem too nerdy and awkward to be the charming yet a bit intimidating socialite billionaire

Hot take of mine: Jesse Eisenberg's take on Luthor was an interesting and creative choice for BvS. I wouldn't use him forever, and it would have been cool to see him mature. But him bringing an aspect of youth to the character when facing a grizzled Batman and a stoic Superman helped balance the movie.
edit: Also, that doesn't mean he's "the Lex Luthor". He's a unique take. Paul Dano isn't "The Riddler", he's an interesting version of him. Same with Tom Hardy as Bane.

    • @tyrellmultimedia

Agreed. His adaptation was interesting because of how different it was, yet it still offered a stabilizing balance between the tones of what Batman and Superman was offering.

Well I guess we all know Jesse Eisenberg was the worst version as why would anyone especially the Senator would listen to an obvious villain and his plan was to kidnap Martha Kent as Superman is faster than a speeding bullet which he could have found her easily which begs the question why this is guy Superman’s greatest enemy again.
Can you do a video on the Penguin because I think he has so much potential that nobody is realising because I always felt that Batman and Penguin should be like Eliot Ness and Al Capone from the Untouchables as well as Daredevil and Kingpin but not only that but also Scrooge McDuck and Flimheart Glumgold from Ducktales.

    • @tyrellmultimedia
      @tyrellmultimedia  Рік тому +5

I mean, I definitely wouldn't say Eisenberg is the best Luthor but I think his villain arch is very suited to what and who Luthor is. The senator didn't listen to Luthor knowing he was the villain, she listened and considered the proposal of a billionaire scientist who found a natural rescourse to counteract the threat of Kryptonians. It wasn't until she very cleary realized his ambitions were for power of his own that she denied him.
Superman also couldn't have thwarted Luthor's plan because he had no idea Lex had any personal life details about him or the fact that his mother was a target. The minute Superman would have sped off to find his mother, Luthor would have placed an immediate kill order on Martha.

@@tyrellmultimedia but it is always the execution as he is very cartoonish and Phoenix Studio already gave you the answer why, especially comparing him to Zemo from Civil War I say Zemo was better as I wish they could have given them a flashback on them to make them seem justified of their actions

Lex is a great character and one I feel will always need to be part of a Superman story.
    QUESTION 1 Opinion
Lex is a great antihero. I love it when we do see that humanity in him but ultimately Lex works best when he is the Lex who wants control. Lex can't control Superman, Lex feels threatened by this because Superman can destroy the world and Lex, while he rarely would show any care doesn't want the world to burn. He likes being one of the top humans and Superman represents a constant reminder that he isn't. He also sees Superman as a challenge to overcome. My 3 favorite versions of Lex are John Shea in Lois and Clark, Jesse Eisenberg in BVS and Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville and all three versions exemplify Lex's biggest strengths.
    QUESTION 2 OPINION
I don't mind the Power suit as it shows more of Lex's intelligence. He can't beat Superman physically and none of the adversaries he sends at him are doing the job, so "If you want a job done right you gotta do it yourself" and he does use it sparingly. Even sometimes in a heroic way, which adds to Lex's character.
    QUESTION 3 OPINION
I do agree here, it adds another element if Lex wasn't born with a silver spoon, or at the very least chose to work hard (like we see in Smallville) where he wants badly to not be his father and work for his stuff and not rely on his father's name. It also adds to his jealousy of Superman too.
    QUESTION 4 OPINION
Jon Cryer was great as Lex, he went from Lex's nephew to being the man and earned his place as my number 4 Lex.
Clancy Brown is who I hear as Lex when I read comics. The only time I hear Michael or Jesse is for certain versions
Jesse as a terrible pick I disagree wholeheartedly. The man played him so well.
As for Batman and Lex I feel it's definitely more equal they are both equally obsessive.
    QUESTION 5 OPINION
I disagree about Lex not being President, please yes he would, Lex has the intelligence to manipulate people into trusting him. If I were to deal with the Lex for President thing it would be early on where the world still saw the facade. Like Roland Daggett in Batman the Animated Series
    QUESTION 6 OPINION
    I've stated my top 3 but here's top 5
    1) Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville)
    2) John Shea (Lois and Clark)
    3) Jesse Eisenberg (BVS/ZSJL)
    4) Kevin Spacey (Superman Returns)
    5) Gene Hackman (Superman 1-4)
Clancy Brown is overall my favorite but I'm pointing out live action. Honorable mention to Sherman Howard in Superboy Season 2 -4.
    QUESTION 7 ANSWER
I've already said this earlier but you need Lex in Superman's world. He doesn't need to be a villain or the main focus but he does need to be there. Same with Zod
    QUESTION 8 ANSWER
Agreed, he's a man who's intelligent enough to create problems with no trace of him.
    QUESTION 9 ANSWER
It's been done before on Superman the Animated Series. I feel like he as a scientist is already involved in space exploration and the idea could be that because he views Superman as a threat he looks to the stars to see if an alien invasion is coming. I believe this is what he did in BVS too.
    YOUR OPINION
I actually do like this too, what I'd like to see is a redemption arc, let him be that villain and build to him having redemption. His New 52/Rebirth arc was very interesting and it was unfortunate to see him once again become a villain.

I know Superman and Lex Luthor are supposed to be rival enemies forever, but since Lex Luthor is so smart, I like to think that when he gets older, he sees past Superman and becomes a hero. I’m not saying they should be BFFs but I’m saying since Lex Lutho is so smart, he would be a superhero. it would be good publicly and he obviously loves America and earth so much I feel like if push came to shove he would be a hero

This is just a response to crocsfortress, but it is impossible for someone to become a billionaire through hard work. No one has ever gotten rich by working from 9 to 5. Everyone who is a billionaire either made that money from A, being born into wealth, B, inheriting said wealth or C, the most common way, finding a way to exploit the manual labor and extracting the value of said labor of the working class. People don't get rich by hard work, they get rich by holding all the resources you need to survive hostage and then only allowing you to have access to those resources as long you work to make them wealthy. That is what we grown ups call capitalism.
