Thanks Randy for these great tips and for demonstrating different techniques for this setup! Things are slowly warming up and it's time to get the tackle out! :)
If you buy the Z Man Big TRD you can also trim the length as Randy says, but you still get the floating action. I’ve caught plenty of 4-5 pounders on them,
Your channel has helped me catch so many bass this spring. I'm transitioning from many years of over fixating on steelhead fishing and now I have the bass bug. Your videos are all I watch when it comes to bass information. Your so smart and also extremely kind for sharing this amazing information that you acquired over the years. Thank you sir.
I love the advise about using stick worm for ned bait, I been doing it even since i discover ned rigs highly effective for all type of fish, from bass to trout and even crappies!
Thank you for this and ALL the other great info you provide us fellow anglers! I like the Z-Man NedlockZ EWG jigheads and also prefer using plastic baits that float for my Ned, Neko, shakeyhead, Dropshot, Tokyo and C-rigs.
The shortened ned rig reminds me of the Johnson’s beetle spin me and my buddies used when we were teens in the 80’s. It was a great Smallmouth bass bait. Will have to try the combo again this summer.
Thanks Randy. I appreciate all the fishing information you share with us thru your videos. I’ve learned and applied your techniques to catch more fish. It adds to the enjoyment of recreational fishing I can pass on to my grandkids.
Hey Randy, great video. Saw your tip and decided to give it a shot today .. wouldn't you know it, worked like a charm. Tried it on my local community pond, skittish bass and cold water, 6th retrieve and landed a two pounder. Great tip, great video.Thank you for sharing. Keep up the great work.
I know of a lot of anglers who turn their noses up at the thought of using a Ned rig, but I can honestly say I've caught more bass on one than almost all my other lures combined.
The nikko halgramite is my favorite, best is a 5.99 largie on a bass pro tungsten ewg weedless ned ball head. It floats, and is pretty indestructible. I generally lose the setup after 15 fish, and sawing thru the line from.bass teeth. Goota retie once in a while.
Hi Randy, I think you said you use 6lb test line for your bed rig setup. Is it 6lb test braid with a flouro leader? I have a med fast action spinning rod with a 2500 spinning reel. Your thoughts Thanks Scott from Indiana
When you cut down the ned to a mini ned (2") the elastic plastic thats float is not needed. The head of the hook make it stand anyway. And that elastic its so difficult to work with. I use my whacky worms for ned. the cheapest will do fine.
You can throw almost anything out in prespawn/spawn/post and it will work . But nobody does a dog day middle of summer video because……..a lot these fantastic lures will find it difficult to find/ catch fish .
i have never catch a small mouth and always wanted to. the lake am going to is clear and only 233 acre two man boat lake, the state only allows ten boats daily. i will catch trhem like the wacky worm setup.
Most of the places I fish in Florida just has to much grass to fish a ned rig. The rivers are the only place with sand bottom and they are full of hangs. I usually only use a ned rig in salt water for redfish.
Beatle on a ned is realy good * Dont tell anyone ! A old buck just gave me 4 unopened packs of Powerbait beatles < witch have been discontinued a long time **😮😮😮
Buuuuut those don't float and just fall over. Actual ned rig baits float so it stands up after is falls. So using a normal senko style isn't as useful.
Sometimes they like the NON floating rigs over the floating -depends on the day. According to the inventor (NED) its still a Ned rig if it doesn’t float
You can still use just live bait I do all the time and always catch fish it's easier to use live bait than artificial and I fish mostly live bait but I have tons of artificial
@@frixling2871 All the kids now days like to use their plastic and lead that contaminates our waters and endanger our future generations…. Can’t believe it.. even these pros are trying to push this out to the youngins… can’t compete no more.
The Ned rig is nothing but a simple jig that was invented by who was possibly the cheapest man ever that used broken pieces of worms. If you've ever seen a picture of this guy he's wearing super old clothes and using a reel from the 1970s he was a cheap bastard
How does a ned rig kill a fish over never throat hooked a bass on a ned when they bite wait a second or 2 and hook set and there won't be any dead or throat hooked fish...
I’m balls to the walls for sure if you use a Ned rig in your next tournament, you’ll have a better chance to finish higher than most of those spot-lighters buddy. Did you experiment with a Ned rig in your last tournament at all? Just a piece of bone advice for you. 🫲🏼
Thanks Randy your tips on fishing they are really good. Keep up the good work!
I save/keep my torn up wacky worms for my Ned Rigs. Great illustration Randy. Thanks for sharing.
Same..love it
Great idea
Please don't stop giving advice I learned so much I doubled my fishing skills much appreciated thanks
Hey, stop watching these vids then, so there's some fish left for me! Lmao

Thank you Randy for the tip and for your time!
great content as usual, Never even crossed my mind to use soft stick baits. Good Stuff!
Way back in the 90s we would use our scrap stick baits on a mushroom head in the dead of winter and catch so many bass on that method

Fantastic video thank you. The information at the end about the hookset is so valuable
Finally an informative tip which was the reason I followed your channel in the past. Keep this type of content going and I'll be back.

Fantastic information from you once again! I appreciate your channel!
Can be pretty creative with a ned rig...small plastic craw is a fav of mine
Thanks for this video I'm trying to improve my finesse fishing and keep hearing a lot about the Ned rig I'm going to use your techniques
As always, great content. Much appreciated!

Nice!
Zoom two tone is a winner
Thanks Randy. I pretty much use any old worm and it’s “backside” for a bed head or even a ball head. Stuff really works. And for many species
I like these Randy videos... the shad was a good one too.
Great tips, thanks. I tried Ned rigs for the first time last year in a clear lake and in the Susquehanna, great results 👍
Great tips randy!! The baby bass or watermelon pearl laminate is one of my favorite colors i use that in place of green pumpkin most of the time
Surprised you didn’t rough up the worm a bit first! 😅 Awesome tips as usual. Thanks Randy!
Sir Randall great information
Great video. I love Ned rigging. Would love to know what’s in those plastic containers on the shelves behind you one day!
Thanks!
I know of a lot of anglers who turn their noses up at the thought of using a Ned rig, but I can honestly say I've caught more bass on one than almost all my other lures combined.

One question that would be a good thought is what do youi suggest we do with the rest of the worm after we cut off the tail to length?
I've been using pieces of worms on a jig head my whole life. Never knew there was a name for it.
Hi Randy, I think you said you use 6lb test line for your bed rig setup. Is it 6lb test braid with a flouro leader? I have a med fast action spinning rod with a 2500 spinning reel. Your thoughts Thanks Scott from Indiana
Is a NED rig good to use with Livescope?

I really wanted to fish Florida, but ya, I guess it's slop or nothing down there. So much in the water.
@@Upgraydez it's definitely worth it to make a trip. Most places have a lot of vegetation, but it's usually loaded with fish. It's a fair trade. 😂
thanks for the info, the Ned head link did not work for me , the others did, fyi.
Thank you for this video! I unsubscribed because this channel has become a complaint feast on FFS. I subscribed because of great videos like these.

Randy do you think water clarity improves the deeper you go?
That’s a good question. I’m not really sure on that.
Get out ur snorkel?
Ned is a bad man
Is a YUM “Zinky” actually a “Dinger”?
Yum makes the dinger and zoom makes the zingy but yes they are both soft stickbaits
Love Ned rig but 1 trip last year had 5-6 bass swallow. Pretty much had to kill fish to get my bait!🤣😂
Taking too long to set the hook.
Buuuuut those don't float and just fall over. Actual ned rig baits float so it stands up after is falls. So using a normal senko style isn't as useful.
Fair point….
I make a diy neko rig with a basic Home Depot screw,,,,way cheap. And she’ll float up tall nicely
Sometimes they like the NON floating rigs over the floating -depends on the day. According to the inventor (NED) its still a Ned rig if it doesn’t float
Zoom style sekos, can't think there name at moment, but they float better than Yamamoto senko. And z man's will really float!
Sigh… I remember the good times when we only had live bait!’
You can still use just live bait I do all the time and always catch fish it's easier to use live bait than artificial and I fish mostly live bait but I have tons of artificial

Intuitive crying by big Randy
Title should be “never fish a ned rig ever again.”
Why
Wow, you’re so edgy and cool. How can we all be just like you?
What is the type of hook he is using? Size etc
@@phillynch9514
I pour my own. I use a #2, 90° matzu hook. Or an eagle claw.
@@cliffmiller2130 Pouring your own is the way to it. Thanks for your help.
Ned Rigs kill fish.
That's not why I don't use the setup tho.
