I’ve rewatched Alastor’s confusion at Rosie calling him Ace so many times. I laughed so hard from shock, happiness, and appreciation. Rosie is the best on so many levels.
Do you mind explaining the joke to me? I know it’s a reference to Alastor being AroAce but I don’t understand “Ace in the hole”? Is it a reference to a phrase of some kind? Wouldn’t it be better as “Ace in the deck”? You know, like a card deck or smth like that?

Yes, serial killers are often gifted with the ability to come across as extremely personable. It's definitely on brand for Alastor to be very good at making friends.
As far as where he went... well, I don't have an answer for that, but he did disappear for the same number of years as Lilith... and SOMEBODY owns his soul other than him... I'd be shocked if there wasn't a connection.
Zestial also mentioned that he’d heard rumors of Alastor falling into angelic arms, or something like that.

The fact that she gives Alastor a tip on someone who might be willing to make a deal makes me think she's not in the business of making soul deals for her power.
That actually make sense. Especially if she is hellborn since they wouldn’t have a mortal soul to make deals with.
being called an overlord simple through strength of numbers with all her cannibals would be a great explanation as to why!
I wouldn't be surprised if she owns their souls and simply is only interested in cannibals. It'd be REALLY easy to get a cannibal to sell their soul to you if it would permit them to live in cannibal town where they have plenty of flesh to indulge in. It's probably why it's such a 'pleasant' place in Hell; for cannibals Hell is a paradise. Not only can they openly practice their perverse 'hobby', their victims will regenerate! A literal endless supply of victims they can eat with impunity!
according to viziepop, Rosie is a relatively weak overlord only a 2 or 3 on a scale of 10 in terms of power
@@abrahamschneider5673 Which would make sense if her existence as an Overlord was largely just a title in acknowledgement of her influence among the cannibals. It would also make sense considering Hellborn(if indeed she is) are considered weaker than sinners or high-ranked demons.

i have a dark theory about the cannibals and that is the fact that the majority of the cannibals in history were forced into it by tragic life or death situations in order to survive. Since peoples hell forms are related to their "sin" in some way they are cursed to be cannibals in the afterlife but in every other metric they are just decent people.

The did confirm season 2. This show hit the Amazon prime new show record. It aint going anywhere.
I think its pretty obvious considering theres SO many storylines left unfinished for now. Lilith’s arc, Alastor’s arc, Angel and his relationship with Val/Husk, The Vees, Lute’s arc, Emily’s and Sera’s arcs and the future of heaven. We didn’t get to see any sinners other than Pentious rehabilitated either. And there’s more…
Thankfully. I have to admit I was worried. Prime isn’t exactly full of great shows or even good shows, so I was worried not many people would catch it

Oh yeah this show has been blowing up, it consistently hits #1 in like a dozen countries, it hits the Top 10 on prime video in like 80 countries around the world. Heck I'm from Denmark, a small country in Scandinavia, and it just reached #1 most popular thing on Prime video here. Needless to say I know Amazon is seeing this as a huge success! Heck even when the first trailer for this dropped they already announced a 2nd season is in the works, so that may come out in like 9-15 months or something like that. Plus I recall Vivienne saying she wants Hazbin Hotel to be 3 seasons long total, so she defintiely has a gameplan for the series.
Well I hope she’s got more than 24 episodes planned cause it sounds like there’s an absolute ton of story to get through.
I love Rosie! She is like that aunt or family friend who gives you a loving but firm kick up the arse when you need a push to make big changes in your life.

Alastor and Rosie being friends is literally surprisingly wholesome. Its clear that Rosie's power comes from her charisma with the other cannibals, so her charisma combined with Alastor being surprisingly personable makes them seem so supportive lmao.
Alastor might be very helpful and even friendly for unknown reasons, and he's not as aggressive or abusive as some other overlords either, but the point is he's not doing it for the purpose of being good. Still my favorite character though. You're going to like the ending, which you've probably already seen since this is pre recorded.
Hes going really far even for a psycho, and psychos are good at mimicking emotions but still are noticable, alastor has too much dedication and emotion imo

I used to think Lilith owns Alastor but now I think Eve is the one behind the scenes.
In Charlies opening monologue and Vaggie/Mimsie's backstory for Alastor we might get a hint at who has Alasator's leash, Lilith. Vaggie in the pilot, Mimsie in EP 5.
Charlie said Lilith used her voice to spread her message and gain power by putting on musical performances.
Alasator gained power faster than anyone had seen as the Radio Demon. Radio would spread Lilith's voice further so she could have been the one to invest in his power in the beginning or get him as a subordinate soul at a later date.
So Lilith being the one to have his Leash would give Alasator a reason to be interested in Charlie. He could be ordered to help/watch Charlie, interested in gaining power by being next to her, etc...

The thing with pacing is that it's not a Hazbin Hotel problem. Its a modern streaming media problem. Everything is 6-8 episodes now and it destroys pacing.
I like it that when you go back to the opening scene of the pilot you can see other overlords including Rosie, vox, Valentino, velvette, Carmilla, and zestial. So good to see.
It's been confirmed we're getting season 2, the voice actors are recording their lines now. I hope we get more soon I am so hyped!!!

I admire how the song Out For Love essentially talks to Vaggie about letting go of her anger, and when she does that is actually how she ends up regrowing her wings.
I loved this episode but there's a major plothole that bugs me. Carmilla says "Before me, did you know that angels could be harmed" and Vag says "No". But we saw in a previous episode that Vaggie herself was severely harmed by another angel.
I'm pretty sure she meant "harmed by a demon". The problem was never whether or not angels could harm each other, it was the assumption that demons, being "unholy", wouldn't be able to harm holy beings

I think Lilith owns his souls and he is watching out for Charlie for her but also positioning Charlie to influence getting his souls back. Explains why he hates and wants to undermine Lucifer.
Everything is shades of, grey and a rainbow. Like a mirror or, an opal gemstone.
Before the show even came out, there was already going to be a 2nd season. Here’s to more awesome things from this show in the future.

I've heard a theory that Alastor's always wearing a smile that is fake. That he's only smiled once in the series truly -- the time he made this deal with Charlie. His REAL smile was so big, it Ripped his FACE apart -- hence the stitches holding it together. he heh hheh .mua ha haaaaa!!!! XD

We do get one clue as to what he might have been up to earlier in the series. Alastor was missing for 7 years, the same amount of time that it has been since Charlie heard from her mom.

My assumption for Alastor is that he was gone at the peak of his power because Lilith forced a deal to make him stop, maybe forcing him to keep a smile as a punishment.
I think Alastor tried to take out Lilith and lost. She then offered him a deal so she owns him. She sent him to protect Charlie when she started the Hotel.
They putting it like they did not know angels can even be HARMED, but then, you saw it at this point so I can talk about it vaguely, in Ep8 we can see simple roughing around can easily harm and Angel too, cause them to bleed...they should have just said angels cannot be KILLED instead than.
So theres a little lore behind why Alistar always smiles, he apparently promised his mother that he would always have a smile on his face. So it seems that he is keeping that promise in hell.

now here's something I'm struggling to understand. why didn't Alastor exchange the knowledge for ownership of Charlie's soul? surely whatever he's planning could happen more easily with it or is he avoiding a deal like that because he knows how poorly it could go for him should Lucifer find out? or does his current plan simply just not require him to own her soul for it to work?

I think "out for love", while it is a banger, is a bit unfitting for where we are in the series, considering vaggie was portraied as being already there from the start.

There is a fan theory that Lilith has alastor’s chain, and he’s been gone for 7 years. So has Lilith, she’s in heaven, so my theory is that Alastor was also in heaven but Lilith forced him back to hell to try and stop Charlie, and he hates it down there so he wants to break free and reform so he can go back up.
