    I was going to get these if you could just hook it up to your computer at home via usb cable and just copy and paste what images you want to see on each using a software or just drag and drop images to a folder on the unit. Seems crazy that this day and age it needs a miniature slide instead of a file on the device.

    I saw this but the only thing i'd be on the fence about is having that sticking out in view. its nice not having to open your door and hardwire. Although installing in the door, hides it.

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven  3 роки тому +1

      You're absolutely correct, Anthony!! These are definitely a bit more noticeable than the version that installs within the door panel, but the beauty about these is their rather low labor intensity, their low cost, and their impactful presence. The only compromise is needing to purchase batteries and having to look at the slightly bulbous box protruding from your door panel...
      I have to admit. It isn't as bad as it may seem in all honesty. Yes, it protrudes... But, I have never hit it with my foot, and it has never fell on the floor (nor has the magnet ever moved since installing over 7 months ago). It's definitely much more "durable" (to a certain extent) than I was expecting, and for the price, I'd say give it a try. :)
      Let me know how it works out for you!! 😁👍🏼

    Will that 3m destroy the car door’s paint if you decide to take the lights off?

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven  3 роки тому +1

      Hi there! That's a great question. I am currently unsure about that since I haven't removed them yet. For me, they're still working fine, so need for removal as of yet.
      I know that when I was installing it originally, I put them on and took them off at least 3 times to get the right positioning... When I did that, they never caused any damage to my door panels. But, that was within 1-2 minutes. I'm not quite sure what may happen now that I have had it installed for nearly a year.
      I appreciate you leaving this comment. Hopefully someone can help you with an answer if they've had them installed for a while (and attempted to remove them).
      Take care, and please subscribe if you found this video helpful. 👍🏼

    I wonder if the door panel could be popped off and drill a hole on the bottom of the door so it would fit inside the door.

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! I'm sure that's a possibility. Although, I would had to test it out for it not to work. Also, these are battery operated... So, you'd have to remove the panel every time to change the batteries which can become a pain after a while. But, it'll definitely give the interior a cleaner more "OEM factory look". Once again, thanks for all your comments! They are really appreciated!!!

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven  3 роки тому +3

      Indeed! Figuring out how to trigger the light with the magnet would be another considerable concern if taking this approach. An additional hole would definitely be the most effective way to go about this... Good call, Anthony!!
      Luckily, I have seen many models of these lights that actually drill into the vehicle and operate via wiring.
      I didn't use those models because my main motive for this DIY mod was to make it as easy and inexpensive as possible. These lights definitely do the trick! 😁👍🏼

      @@DriveAndBeDriven at that point if you're going to take the door off and drill holes in order to shine the light through your best bet is the hard wire it so you don't have to worry about the battery at all or the actual triggering mechanism. This device was purely to be used outside of taking the door apart something simple that did what you expect. And it does it well

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven  3 роки тому +1

      Exactly! I agree. If you're going to go as far as making holes, you matter as well go all the way and hardwire the lights. It'll definitely be less labor in the long-term regarding battery swapping. I'd also solely use this unit on the exterior of door panels.
      Thanks again for all your comments, Anthony!!! Best wishes, and happy new year!

    The projector unit looks a little bulky. Anyone who has these installed for a while, do you tend to knock them with your leg/foot when entering/exiting the car? How about the little magnet, anyone lost one of those yet? It seems like clothing or something could catch on the magnet and pull it off?

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven  3 роки тому +1

      Hey there! Indeed. The unit is a bit on the bulky side, but for the price, it's a pretty solid deal! Also,, the fact that there are no wires and no drilling required totally sold me.
      I've had these installed for nearly 6 months, and I have never knocked them before... But, then again, I have a "coupe" so my doors are much larger than the average 4-door SUV or sedan. Also, the magnet has never fallen off, even on rainy days. The adhesive is very strong on both the light apparatus and the magnets. The only area you'll have to maintain is the batteries. I had to swap them out about 3 times already. But, only the driver's door, since the other doors are rarely opened on my car.
      Hope this information helps! Let me know if you have any more questions, and please remain subscribed for more awesome reviews and DIY videos coming soon! Take care, man!

      @@darthraider4083 Hello! Thanks for the tip. I realized that with the door closed, the magnet that was provided was completely hidden, even if i tried to place it as close to the edge as possible. And therefore, it was out of the pick-up range of the sensor. So i went to my local hardware shop, bought a larger and stronger magnet which i placed on the panel beside the seat rail and its close enough to the bottom of the projector and now the sensor picks up the magnet. I also got some stronger 3M tape and its all good now. REally, i think the magnets provided with the projector would eventually get kicked off - they're quite small. My new magnet is probably 3/4 inch squared and though visible, it's not an eye sore. Thanks again for the tip!

    that looks very tacky, it would have been dope to have a more proper kit, kinda like what is stock on a mercedez benz.
