Thanks so much for giving BROKEN STARS a shout-out, Petrik! Wasn't at all expecting that. I've been publishing short stories for almost a decade now, so I decided it was time to collect some of them in a single volume. I'm blessed that Mike was able to produce some damn good cover art for me!
I cannot believe how far The Broken Binding keeps hitting it out of the park with each book they produce, and I keep having to pinch myself to believe that The Way of Edan is among them! My deepest thanks to you, Petrik, for the vital role you play in making possible all the incredible art!
Hello Patrick, im watching your videos for a long time. But now i have finally subscribed 😅. And this is my first comment on you channel ever. You are the only booktube channel i visit after library of Vikings.
I am always looking forward to your SFF Spotlight videos. After seeing Sword of Kaigen and Where Loyalties Lie Kickstarter campaign in your video, I had checked it out and guess what I backed it. First Kickstarter backing! Now excited to lay my hands on the gorgeous special editions and nervous about the insane shipping fees. 😅
It's a dragon-themed episode of SFF Spotlight! Love it. I'm a big Arcane Ascension (and Weapons & Wielders) fan, so this is so cool to see. Same with King's Dark Tidings. I need to catch up as I've only read the first 4. Really cool on audio. ps, red is a great color for you on camera!
Thank you for all the news & updates, Petrik! 😃 I cannot tell you how excited I am for the TBB Press edition of ODAL 🤩 Hopefully we'll have more details regarding the release date soon!! 👀
Wraithmarked is just suuuuch a cool company, and I especially love this newest SPFBO spotlight! Also really bummed that I still haven't been able to watch Shogun (we only have prime, hbomax and netflix to stream), I am feeling the FOMO real hard hahaha. Thanks for sharing the news again!
Great video as always! I don't really comment much on your videos but your background is too stunning to keep quiet about! Also books being on the floor due to lack of space is so relatable 😂
Definitely plan on getting The Hobbit LE to go alongside my copy of LOTR. Also, have placed a pre-order for The Wandering Fire. I'm not sure what you'll make of the Fionavar Tapestry, Petrik. It's unlike any of his other series ( I think it was his first foray into writing fantasy ) - has more of an urban fantasy feel to it, as opposed to the historical/fantasy fiction he became known for later in his writing career.
Did you get a new camera as well? Or mess with the color grading of your videos? Your book shelf just seems more vibrant now. Excellent work Petrik!! Always look forward to these update videos. Oh! And I just got my Midnight Editions of The Dandelion Dynasty in the mail the other day. They are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks again for recommending the series!
I actually didn't get a new camera! I did mess with the color grading a bit, though. I think it looks better! Thank you so much, Travis. I have my copy of the Midnight Editions of Dandelion Dynasty. It's so pretty. The series deserves it! :)
Thanks for the book news Petrik, I don't really use social media so this way I might not miss these special edition like the Broken Binding edition for Empire of Silence. *sigh* (though I think I should, in the first place) also greetings from fellow Indonesian 👋
I suggest you to read “Under Heaven”, also by GGK, before giving up to the author. For me his works are awesome! If I may ask, what is that you didn’t love about “The lions of Al-Rassan”? I’m sure you already said it, but I forgot!😅
Haha, it was just boring and uninteresting for me. One of the things that I dislike a lot about Guy Gavriel Kay's historical fantasy books are how every male main character instantly attract so many woman to them regardless of what they do. Sarantine Mosaic was the same as well, maybe even worse. Once I noticed this, it gets really hard to not see this in many of his books as a male writer fulfillment. I heard it's the same in the Songs of Arbonne, too. I cannot deny he writes amazingly well, though. I might try Under Heaven someday!
Do I see an empty dustcover for Empire of Grass? 😮😊 I'm on the last 100 pages in preparation for The Navigator's Children. Hope you are enjoying it as much as I am.
@@PetrikLeo Those pesky responsibilities.. Haha I had a similar situation, too much work and not enough energy but now.. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it soon then.
Knowing how dark Mike Shackle writes, I’m kinda impressed that his cover art isn’t so grim lol. I’m sure it fits the content of the book well, but I would have figured something a bit darker in imagery after reading his books!

It looks gorgeous, but I am not 100% sure if the book would be for me. I don't have that problem with In the Shadow of Kings. That was ordered immediately. And I have already read it as an ebook because I just could not wait for this edition to come out
I think their edition for Legends and Lattes might be their best one so far yet. I'm sure Bookshops and Bonedust will be the same. That's totally understandable on Ascendant! I need read A Time of Dragons ASAP! :)

My opinion is rare, but none the less, I would have liked to support the Hayes book but NOT the Sword of Kaiden-but I was not allowed to! I was not even allowed to leave a comment why unless i subscribed to paying for both!!! Is no one concerned that a woman is forced by her parents to marry and have children with someone who abuses her for years and at the end feels okay about it?! One of her sons was killed…but towards the end the husband who has been has been abusing her for years is “nicer” and so now it’s all okay…while the man she loved she doing great, and she accepts it all! C’mon. Why is there so much love for this book?! Please explain. Also, why can’t I support the Hayes book aloe?! It seems there is some campaign for the Kaiden book that I just don’t understand! Its actually extremely common in asian countries. If anything it made her character really believable. Also, just in general, abuse victims are often in love with their toxic partners. Which is why its so hard for them to leave. If anything, i LOVE that the book gave her husband some form of redemption, which was the real fanatsy for me in that book
Different cultures have different ways of handling domestic abuse. Here I appreciated the fact that Misaki stoud up for herself and she did realised she should have done it earlier. The message of the book is NOT to endure abuse. Considering her husband decided to put in the work to be supportive and do right by his family and the fact they had two young sons left to raise, she giving him a chance is NOT the same thing with accepting that abuse is normal.
