    The first utensil you used to cut the thin rims is a cake slicer, to cut thought a cake cut evenly all the way through evenly.
    Such beautiful soaps and the beauty is you can change up your outside colours and center colours depending how your feeling. Once again very beautiful and creative bars of two types

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  4 роки тому +5

      Thank you so much for your lovely comments as always Tanya. The tool is definitely not a cake slicer though. I actually removed the saw blade that it came with and replaced it with the guitar string. I did go back and research it and found out it is actually a coping saw.

      Ohh, thank you, I do think it is some kind of saw for metal, it did have a very skinny blase, I took that out and swapped in the guitar string. Thank you for your kind comment :-)

    Thank you Lisa. I tried Tatiana’s rimmed soap and found it rather difficult to get the rim even. I love that you simplified the process. I can do this with the method you used with the shorter tubes and loaf mold. It is one of my favorite soaps!! Thank you again for making this easier to do!!

    • @IDreamInSoap
      @IDreamInSoap  4 роки тому

      That's excellent news, yes pouring the thin layer can be tricky. I like the sort tubes as well as you can get your hands in and make sure you've smoothed the join down well. I do hope you try it again and have lots of success :-)

    These are beautiful! Thank you for so generously sharing your skills and talents. I especially admire your creative use of non-specialized equipment. Many very pretty projects are demonstrated with expensive equipment. That’s discouraging to beginners. Plus, I just like being able to reuse things that otherwise would be trash. Using my creative brain eases the depression my logical brain suffers. Best wishes for your health and that of your dear family, from Maggy

      Thank you so much Barbara, that's so nice of you. I must admit I can be a bit of an over thinker and sometimes I even lay awake in bed trying to work out a soapy problem or understand how something actually happens. I have to understand everything, I'm not very good at just accepting information if it doesn't make sense. I'm also a big 'systems' person, if something is awkward or tricky, if I can I will try to improve it, so hopefully some of these things can then help others out too. Stay safe and well :-)

    • @guelle01
      @guelle01 4 роки тому

      I Dream In Soap regarding the lying awake and thinking, do the same, usually it goes like this: next time do this and this differently. That is why I admire you bc you think of the problems ahead and I just run into them...😂

    I’ve been seeing the pics of this lovely soap, and now I’m finally getting to see the video for it. That was a cool trick to cut the layer off the top like that. I don’t think I’ve seen it before. Beautiful work! 😀

      Thank you so much Whittany, TBH I just wanted a way that was better than pouring an unpredictable thin layer or the waste of using a slab, but now I've worked it out and done it, it seems so sensible :-)

    The tool that you're using at the 13:00 mark is a pottery tool called a slab cutter. I majored in pottery and am pleasantly surprised at how many tools people have adopted for soap making. I think I may have found my new passion!
