  • With the increased demand of online training, I have decided to create an Instructional Capoeira Movement series covering the basics of Capoeira Regional. In your first lesson of the series I’ll help you learn the most important movement in Capoeira, the ginga.
Ginga(sway) - it’s within the ginga that the Capoeira practitioner executes his movements and demonstrates his or her own knowledge and swag. It is the steps in the rhythmic fight. It’s the sway from which a contagious rocking of arms, trunk, hips and even the head play out.
The arms are put in such a way that protects the head at the right moment of attack. The legs alternate and the moving of the hips allows for speed that the practitioner applies in dodging attacks and also enables easy strikes with legs, hands, etc. Practice safely and have fun!

Excellent tutorial by an excellent teacher! I'm sharing this with my students at Northeastern so they have a solid foundation.
