I was anointed with oil and prayed upon while having stage four cancer and afterwards someone asked me, didn't that scare you? the way they were speaking while praying for you..... I heard English the whole time. I heard those words asking for my healing. 2 weeks later I was no longer stage 4 with a 15% chance of survival but now I was a stage two with a 70% chance of survival. 18 years later I'm still here and alive to tell you this testimony. GOD IS REAL. IM ALIVE BECAUSE OF HIM!!!!!!

I remember once I was watching a sermon. The pastor was talking about this verse. He said that once, him and some friends of his were invited to a church. During the sermon, someone suddenly stood up and started speaking "in tongues", another person stood up and started interpreting. One of the guys the pastor came with felt off about it. He had some knowledge of the Hebrew language, so he stood up and spoke a simple sentence. Some guy in the church stood up and "interpreted" what he said. It wasn't even close. The guy that spoke the Hebrew said that that was incorrect and stated what he had said. They all got up and decided to leave. Beware. Just because there is someone to speak and someone to interpret doesn't mean it was of the Holy Spirit.

Speaking in tongues is a gift from the holy spirit but keep in mind it's one of the easiest gifts for satan to imitate . Anyone who is speaking an unknown language without an interpreter for GODs purpose you should assume it's not from the holy spirit. I know an example of someone who visited a church in which there was someone speaking in tongues in a foreign language of the pacific Islands. Being an islander and understanding what was being said it was apparent to him that the speaking in tongues was actually cursing GOD

Just wondering cuz I'm not sure, but by this verse does it mean we need an interpreter while speaking in tongues to a congregation as in the way a pastor preaches to the congregation or is it just talking about speaking in tongues in public? Because I can pray with just me and God in church or in public as I do at home

@@dannyjauregui2001 yeah you’re correct to pray in tongues whether it would be in church or at home. We have to understand what the Apostle Paul was addressing in the Corinthian church and he was addressing having order to the church rather than everyone just standing around speaking in tongues, in which the unbeliever could not be edified and leave confused as to such.
1 Corinthians 14:23 (KJV) If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
It’s also good to point out that it’s very possible for the entire church to just all be speaking in tongues as he was addressing, however, he was telling them to let everything be done and decency and in order. He does not forbid speaking in tongues, nor does not discourage it. However, he does express the need for both speaking in tongues and prophesying, which is essentially the edification to both the believers and unbelievers.
1 Corinthians 14:39-40 (KJV) 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

I experienced this blessing once. I was in my early 20s and had recently been married. We were living with her family in Illinois and they were of Pentecostal faith. I had some experience as a Methodist in my early teen years. I remember my Mom took me around to different church denominations. She grew up in the 4 Square denomination and she remembered it was very strict.
On one the first times attending in my wife’s church, we sat in the back of the church. Near the end of service the pastor asked everyone to come forward to pray for one of the partitioners. We all moved forward down the aisle to as close as we could get. The Pastor started to pray over this person and at some point he says, “And GOD told me to pray for you!”. He said this as he pointed his finger right between my eyes. He might as well have shot me with a gun as I looked him square in the eye when his booming voice rang those words out.
For someone who hasn’t experience that it is hard to communicate what happened to me. It was as if I had instantly passed out. I felt like I was at the feet of Christ. In my mind I was as low as I could be in front of Jesus and it felt as if I was singing praises to Him. I was at complete peace to the point I didn’t want to return to this world. Somehow, the rest of the parishioners brought me to the front of the church and they were all praying for me. I came to shortly after this in complete bewilderment to what had happened to me. The entire church told me I had spoke in tongues. I had never seen anyone speak in tongues before. All I knew was it was real what happened to me.
My life with my then wife, was short lived. We ended up getting an annulment against my wishes, but there was some infidelity on her part and I was willing to forgive her, but she was unreconcilable.
I went through many ups and downs in my faith ride, God preparing me for what He wanted for me.
I now attend a non-denominational church that speaks from the Bible scriptures. I love my church and now serve in the capacity of a youth leader for grades k-5. I absolutely love Gods Children and through my Air Force experience as an instructor, He uses me to preach to them. I can’t wait to be with them each Sunday. It is the highlight of my week.
What I experienced with Speaking in tongues was real and I would not change that experience one iota.
Praise God Almighty and may we all find our special gifts and use them to Glorify Jesus’ Holy name!
I lift each of you up and pray for our country to return to following Jesus.
I pray all this in Jesus Holy and precious Name! Amen and Amen.

In the Bible Paul refers to speaking in tongues as crossing language barriers to communicate the message of God to others. God is not a God of confusion and the truly spiritual can control themselves through the grace of God. If the Holy Spirit is present there is always peace and clarity, not confusion. God always wants us to understand, that’s why we should always be wary of participating in behaviors where unclarity dwells. Why do we need to speak in an unknown language to God when He already dwells in us and understands us more than we do ourselves?

For ex. the verses following Acts 2:4 explain how the multitudes were amazed that they could understand the disciples preaching the wonderful works of God in their own native tongue (Acts 2:5-12). The disciples were not speaking an unknown language, but existing ones that people could understand, about the works of God. I was thinking about that. A lot of churches have members who don’t believe in speaking in tongues, so doing so in a church service like that is probably a nonstarter. But if you were in a group of people who do speak in tongues, and who have been praying for the gift of interpretation, then I think it would be OK for people to do a trial run. To speak in tongues, and ask if anyone understood it. If no one really understands it, that’s a sign that it should just be a private prayer language or that you need to keep praying for someone to interpret and test it out periodically. But you need to be fairly Sure of the integrity and honesty of anyone who says that they can interpret. There are literally Satanists, who infiltrate churches just to screw them up. It’s like one of their jobs.

To be clear, there must be an interpreter present when speaking in tongues or a prayer language to a congregation or assembly so that all can know what exhalation the person speaking is giving.
We can still and should still speak in tongue or a prayer language in our private time with the Lord and the Holy Spirit because God knows what we are saying so we don’t need an interpreter.

    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬-‭10‬
”The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue. Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign not for unbelievers but for believers. If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,“

Exactly! I have seen this many times during Pentecostal services and I’m so embarrassed for these people who are faking-especially the preacher! It’s almost as if they encourage the parishioners to fake it just so though their religion can stand out as The Only True And Original Church-they constantly tell people that when questioned about speaking in tongues. The young kids cry when baptized into the Pentecostal church cuz they can’t speak in tongues but know they must to belong. I have seen them cry and just spat out gibberish cuz they feel like they have to. When I asked a teenager who left that church if she really spoke in tongues, she said no, but you can’t belong to the “cult” if you don’t drink the kool aide. It’s a total hoax!

@@3SonsRC please provide scriptural evidence that there is a difference between the spiritual gift and the prayer language. Since I became a believer, I have never spoke in tongues. Other believers have insinuated that I'm not doing it right. They said that I should pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give it to me, just because I want it. I only want what the Father wants for my life. Nor should I covet or envy what other people have. And this is what the Holy Spirit has revealed to me.
There are three occasions in the book of Acts where speaking in tongues accompanied the receiving of the Holy Spirit-Acts 2:4, 10:44-46, and 19:6. However, these three occasions are the only places in the Bible where speaking in tongues is an evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit. Throughout the book of Acts, thousands of people believe in Jesus and nothing is said about them speaking in tongues (Acts 2:41, 8:5-25, 16:31-34, 21:20). Nowhere in the New Testament is it taught that speaking in tongues is the only evidence that a person has received the Holy Spirit. In fact, the New Testament teaches the opposite. We are told that every believer in Christ has the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14), but not every believer speaks in tongues (1 Corinthians 12:29-31).

He made one mistake here, tongues were not given to communicate the gospel it was a sign given to the unbelievers to hear the wonderful works of God meaning Praise! Acts 2:11…Peter preached the gospel afterwards in his own tongue and people were cut at the heart to receive the truth.
In Greek there are 4 words for works: Ergon-most common, deeds or action
    Praxis- practice-works performed
    Dynamis - supernatural works- miracles
Mageleios - to magnify or praise.
Mageleios is only used 2 times in the New Testament and one of the times is in Acts 2:11 thus the speaking tongues was a praise given unto God. That is what speaking in tongues is a praise 99% of the time unless it’s a prophetic message needed to be interpreted.
One can speak heavenly or earthly languages in a true worship from the Spirit who is in you.
Even Paul said if you speak in tongues you do praise well but no one will understand what you are saying. In other words it’s awesome you’re praising but speak the gospel in words of understanding so people can make a decision for Christ.

For you will be speaking into the air. 10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without [a]significance. 11 Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a [b]foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me. 12 Even so you, since you are [c]zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the [d]edification of the church that you seek to excel.
13 Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? 17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.

When you prophesy “you’re speaking in tongues” prophecy is to encourage others so you need an interpreter for that, otherwise noone will know what you’re saying. But also when holy spirit gives the gift of tongues we can also pray to receive the gift of translation, thats why Apostle Paul writes to “desire the gifts” the last 4 verses in this chapter are the most important ones.
Theres also speaking in tongues as personal mystery language between you and God, thats for personal prayer time which you don’t need a translator for because the Spirit knows how to speak with God. But it depends if your church believes in quiet prayer or out loud prayer. Not to say that praying in tongues from the pulpit is a wise thing to do. I don’t believe its biblically correct but it’s also not demonic.
Id like to explain more of my position but its too much writing. People not only have to read the bible to argue with others but to actually study verse by verse and then draw big picture and understand the concept of the time it was written in, etc.

This is a very clear explanation of what scripture says about speaking in tongues. Once I asked a pastor that if I prayed and tried for years to manifest the gift of tongues, yet it just wouldn’t happen, was there something I didn’t know, or was I doing something wrong. His answer to me was, “it’s like a smile, you’ve got to fake it until you make it.” I thought to myself, “ok, that’s what people are doing when they redundantly repeat a set of gibberish words. But as for me, I will wait on the Lord to manifest this gift if there were ever a need for it. I’m not faking anything when it comes to God and my Savior Jesus Christ.”

There is absolutely nothing mysterious about Biblical "tongues" - and there is only one type - when referring to something spoken, they are nothing more than real, rational language(s); usually, but not always, unknown to those listening to them, but always known by the speaker(s) - it’s their native language (in some cases, it is a language the speaker has learned).
In contrast, the “tongues” Pentecostal and Charismatic Christians are producing today is an entirely self-created phenomenon. It is non-cognitive non-language utterance; random free vocalization based upon a subset of the existing underlying sounds (called phonemes) of the speaker’s native language, and any other language(s) the speaker may be familiar with or have had contact with.
It is, in part, typically characterized by repetitive syllables, plays on sound patterns, alliteration, assonance, and over-simplification of syllable structure. It is also interesting to note that any and all phonological rules (rules governing how sounds are put together in a given language - what is allowed and what is disallowed) governing a speaker's native language, will _also_ govern their tongues-speech.
Further, this subset of phonemes mentioned above typically contains only those sounds which are easiest to produce physiologically.
Occasionally some speakers will use two or more subsets of phonemes to generate glossolalia, producing what, to them, sounds like two (or more) distinct “tongues languages”, thus claiming to be able to speak in “divers tongues”.
There is absolutely _nothing_ that “tongues-speakers” are producing that cannot be explained in relatively simple linguistic terms.
Conversely, when it comes to something spoken, there are absolutely _no_ Biblical references to “tongues” that do not refer to, and cannot be explained in light of, real rational language(s), though it may not be the explanation you want to hear, and it may be one which is radically different from what you believe, or were taught. _Nowhere in the Bible is modern tongues-speech advocated or evidenced._
“Praying in the Spirit” does _not_ refer to the words one is saying. Rather, it refers to how one is praying. In the three places it is used (Corinthians, Ephesians, and Jude), there is absolutely zero reference to 'languages' in connection with this phrase. “Praying in the Spirit” should be understood as praying in the power of the Spirit, by the leading of the Spirit, and according to His will.
I'm not doubting or questioning the 'tongues experience'; glossolalia as the spiritual tool that it is, can be very powerful and, for many people, the experience is profound. As one commenter put it, “Speaking in tongues distracts the ego/analytical/conscious mind while leaving the subconscious (the heart) wide open to import the divine." Both the spiritual and physical benefits of using this tool are also well documented. Again though, it is important to note that this same statement can be made for virtually _any_ other culture that practices glossolalia. Religious and cultural differences aside, the glossolalia an Evenki Shaman in Siberia, a vodoun priestess in Togo and a Christian tongues-speaker in Alabama are producing are in no way different from each other. They’re all producing their glossolalia in the exact same way; they just have different explanations and beliefs as to why they’re doing it, and where it comes from. It is only in certain Christian denominations where is it construed as something it never was.
‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy, nor is it modern tongues-speech.
‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy, nor is it the self-created non-cognitive non-language utterance of modern tongues-speech.

Cast aside for the children of old. Selfish, undeserving, glutenous, self righteous ignorance. Our ancestors are creatures on their knees, the makers, the sovereign mothers and Father's reduced to wild beasts, without the ability to articulate who they are or where they belong. Speaking in tongues is Biblical,
There must not be an interpreter, and Paul never said such things. Paul said, he thanks God he speaks in tongue more than others, he also said he prays in tongues and also prays with understanding.
When one speaks in tongue to address a congregation, to preach or pass a message, then there should be an interpreter, when you pray in the Holy Spirit in your closet, then you edify yourself, no interpreter is needed and it's not gibberish.
The scripture must be preached balanced.
Go ahead and pray in the Holy Spirit with faith, it's your prayer language, don't allow the enemy use subtilty to rob you of that. Speak the more.
There have been occasions when while praying in the spirit, my eyes where opened to see someone about to commit suicide by jumping into the river, and prayed for him.
There are also deep groanings which cannot be understood.
Study the Bible for yourself and don't depend on human interpretation.
The day of pentecost was just one incident, and is not enough to discard other biblical experiences. You must teach balanced.
There "must" not be an interpreter, except when you're evangelizing or trying to pass a message in tongues, if you're praying, nobody should interpret what you're praying to your father about, it's not their business.

The fact that theyre being convicted and acknowledging it The Holy Spirit is at work in their lives of sanctification. When we sin we arent disconnecting ourselves from Jesus, we’re greiving and hurting fellowship with The Holy Spirit. Please tell me what christian has stopped sinning and committed no sin at all since receiving Jesus, no one. We are always on going in the process of sanctification. That is why Jesus tells us to pick up our cross daily. We ought to crucify our flesh and its desires, put off the things that carnal flesh desires and put on the fruits of the spirit. I am so glad I found this video. My understanding of speaking in tongues was always from the perspective of the first instance. The ability to communicate with everyone at once so all could understand. So, when I see videos of people speaking gibberish, I was left thinking it was an act. Now I understand the second instance is biblical. Shows I have plenty more to learn about the word!

It's funny how we have so many people speaking in tongues today, yet no one ever just starts speaking in a language they didn't know before 🤔

Im so happy Cliffe said it as it is….. there are no other tongues. Some Christians today think they can talk in tongues but yet there are no interpreters. God will send an interpreter if needed, if HE feels that here is a person that needs to speek in tongues HE WILL send an interpreter!!!!!!!!!

My Father could speak in tongues, but only when praying or witnessing to people about Jesus. He always called tongues the "language of heaven."
My Father was a very inquisitive man, so we visited the language department, at Washington University St. Louis to have his speech recorded...to see if they could recognize it.
They put Dad in a recording booth as I watched. The booth was similar to those now used for hearing tests.
We wanted a few weeks and returned to see what they had to say.
They told us that they couldn't exactly "pin it down," however, they identified it as "a type of Aramaic, similar to what Jesus would have spoken."
I was about 10 when we did all this. I was really impressed, as I knew Dad knew no additional languages, and was a HS drop out that had gotten his GED. My Dad's family were and are Pentecost, I knew they all spoke tongues too.
Those who say that speaking in tongues is not for current times, are mistaken. Father God does what He wants...He blesses His people as He wishes. Tongues is just one of many blessings He might gift.
In the Holy name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.

I was curious as to what he might say. He nailed it when he said “there has to be an interpreter there”, meaning that someone who speaks both languages can confirm the language of tongue and can confirm in the speaker’s origin language, what was spoken.
That’s how I was taught about interpretation of tongues.

I've only heard it once when people were praying over me at a healing service but I had no idea what they were saying or praying. Personally, I believe the Holy Spirit gives some people this gift but as stated in Scripture if there's no one to interpret the tongue being spoken then it is useless to those who only hear gibberish. Doesn't mean it's evil but it could be prayer from the speaker to God alone and isn't meant for the listeners. I find it very interesting but if I am never provided this gift from God then He has His reasons and perhaps it's not an appropriate gift for me. Frankly, I'm just grateful for every moment I have in this life as it is God giving me time to repent and follow Him even when I don't deserve any of His Mercy....He gives it anyway.... how awesome is that...

When I asked the Lord why I spoke to my sister in praying for her in tongues ( as the spirit gives utterance) when she doesn't understand it or there is not an interpreter.
The Lord says so her spirit can catch on Fire 🔥.
The Holy Spirit was trying to catch her Spirit on fire with what was prayed and spoken over her.
But all things can only come about by Believing or faith. Right.
Janes says a double minded person cannot receive anything from God.
      One must believe to receive.
Ask the Lord why in prayer you have not received this gift.
He will assuredly answer you with a thought or audible.
Wisdom cries out in the street, Proverbs says.
So wisdom is audible meaning we can hear it.
In Isaiah he says he will tells us to 'turn to the right and to the left "
He will guide us audibly and Jesus said my sheep Hear my voice and another voice they will not hear.
Learn to hear the voice of the Lord as he instructs and guides you.
