    This guitar is so god damn sexy! What's the price range on it? I want a 6 string baritone soooo bad. I've been using 7s for a few years. I play in drop a and g# mostly but I always seem to go back to 6 so a baritone would be great for me plus I prefer the longer scales. I own a 27" 7/string. I'm on a well... Very tight budget. Any cheaper baritones around worth checking? Rondo music seems to be the only place I can find one but esp just released a viper 200b 2016 model for about $350

    Glad to see you didn't sell all your gear man. I remember our conversations about all that might have happened, but I see that maybe you can start making a career out of UA-cam if you let yourself. Oh, I still owe you some lyrics and vox too lol if and when that will ever happen. But, I still owe you nonetheless. Keep making videos, keep playing guitar, keep making music, eventually everything will fall closer and tighter into place

    I have a guitar neck that's painted black, how could I get a worn finish where the paint is worn off and the wood is showing, I would do it the authentic way, but I don't want to spend 10+ years playing when I'm probably gonna replace the neck soon anyways.

    Would taking a standard guitar, getting it setup with low gauge strings, and tuning down to drop A# be a good idea or nah?

    • @MillsCustomGuitars1
      @MillsCustomGuitars1  9 років тому +3

      ReznovRulz You could do that, lots of professional players do that, and some swear by it. I've tried it, and even with a high end guitar and a proper setup, I find the sound to be very mushy and loose, not clear and tight. Some people like that de-tuned sound, lots of bands that use standard scale guitars in low tunings go for that sound, like BLS, Sevendust, Alter Bridge, etc. and if that's what you're after, then go for it! However, I like low tunings for the extra range, not necessarily the low chuggy metal stuff. Enter the baritone guitar. The longer neck allows you to get that low tuning without it sounding muddy, it remains crystal clear and tight sounding like a regular tuned guitar, but with an extra few frets of range on the low end. So if you like the sound of bands like Staind, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, Deftones, etc, you may want to consider a baritone guitar. Playability also may play a factor. If you have small hands, a baritone guitar might be a bit tough for you on the lower frets as they're spaced farther apart than a standard guitar. String tension and thickness also comes into play. If you don't like the feel and flexibility of heavy gauge strings, you can achieve lower tunings with lighter gauge strings on a baritone guitar. So there's a lot to think about, but if you ever decide you want a baritone guitar, send me a message on my Facebook page, I'd be happy to make you one!

      ReznovRulz yeah man. A 12-62 set will get you there easily.

    • @jus10_lee
      @jus10_lee 7 років тому

      A standard scale length guitar (25.5 inches) can do Drop A# just fine. I would recommend D'addario's 13-62 set, or their 12-60 set if you want a slightly lighter feel.

    Beautiful guitar and great vid. What did you use for your logo? Not waterslide from what I could tell... decal? How many coats of clear did it take to level out? Is it a really thin decal? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just looking for an easier alternative to waterslide.

    • @MillsCustomGuitars1
      @MillsCustomGuitars1  8 років тому +1

      +Guitar Whores I used a vinyl decal, I think it was like 5mil thick. It took quite a bit of clear to level it, I think I hit it with about 5 really wet coats. Waterslides are easier to work with I think, but you need a sealer on the wood to apply them where as these decals can be put right onto the raw wood, so it saves you a little time there. The only reason I stick with the vinyl decals is because I own a vinyl cutter so getting different colors and sizes is very easy and cheap for me to do. But if I had means of printing my own waterslides, I'd certainly be doing that instead. They're thinner and better resolution.

    If you have an electric (Jackson 7 String) it is 24 fret. Can it be put in Baritone tuning or does it have to be a certain neck and body?

    • @T00DEEPBLUE
      @T00DEEPBLUE 8 років тому

      +Davis Waters Nope. Having a neck with a longer scale length is preferable for low tunings as they generally do handle them better, but there's nothing preventing you from tuning low on any guitar if the string gauge is heavy enough.

    • @daviswaters6138
      @daviswaters6138 8 років тому

      Daniel Lomax so it matters about string gauge not neck length

    • @T00DEEPBLUE
      @T00DEEPBLUE 8 років тому +1

      Davis Waters String gauge is what really matters. But it's also true that when heavier strings are used on shorter scales, the strings are going to sound a lot duller on the lower strings at the higher frets in particular. Which is why longer scales do lower tunings better.
