The government would be completely inefficient in that process as has been proven time and time again throughout history (the Soviet Union, Cuba, today's Venezuela)! Fully socialist governments struggle to provide even the most basic of services, such as food, housing, electricity, etc. In capitalism there's a bell curve of wealth distribution. There are some ultra-wealthy individuals, a majority of perfect well-off middle class citizens, and a handful of low income people. I'm french. This guy might be a very talented mathematician with a 200 IQ. But he is far from being "street smart". He is like an innocent seal swimming with great white sharks trying to do politics.
The French language sounds so cute
I'm happy to know of my language sounds cute! But I don't know why...? Because for us (French people) it's doesn't sounds cute...
@@cyrilmusic9066
French sounds cute because most of the french words are not pronounced as they are spelt.
French people drop a few letters from their words before pronouncing it.
That's what babies do when they just started to learn how to speak.
That's why french sounds Cute.

Wow he gave one of those TED lectures, he must be a genius! Those things are so stupid they are smart.

Smoke and mirrors. Another post-ideological leader who is asking to be elected for exactly what? His technical and scientific expertise? He should tell us what groups support him and whose interests he is going to defend.
He's not "post-ideological", if you read his book then you know he's a Communist

Ecological change shouldn’t be a priority when choosing a leader. The economy and well being of the population is more important.
Charles-Henri Descalzi So environmental change doesn’t affect the well being of the population? Or am I missing something?
Higher GDP does not necessarily mean improvement of lives of the people: 1) USSR had high GDP from all the military industrial production, but had a tremendous lack of food products in the shops and people had to stand in long queues for hours just to get them; 2) The economic development that doesn't put focus on ecology and environment protection is not sustainable.
"When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when to breathe the air is sickening, you will realize, too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that you can’t eat money". Alanis Obomsawin.
You can make it a secondary objective by promoting a slower paced capitalisti system. But then again people preach environmental change but then they complain when carbon taxes are imposed. Look at france and the gilet Jaunes. A minimum change in the price of oil caused concessions in billions of taxes for other carbon intensive industries. Everything most be gradual but the present well being of the population most not be sacrificed for long run objectives.
Hey... This isn’t Numberphile 🤔

I’d kill to be able to vote for a man like Cedric
This doesn't aged well haha
Villani was overconfident. He split the anti-Hidalgo votes with the official LREM candidate Griveaux (according to the opinion polls, the majority of Parisians wanted to replace her) instead of withdrawing and so she remained Mayor of Paris. He then also lost his position as Deputy during the last election to the LREM candidate Paul Midy. Since he received a great deal of financial and other support from LREM to get elected as Deputy in the first place, Villani has become regarded as an untrustworthy opportunist in politics. Now he's gone back to full-time academia, but the deterioration in his appearance (the dissipation of his youth has finally caught up with him, he looks like a homeless pensioner now and he's not even 50 years old) combined with his erratic behaviour in public (observe his participation in discussions on issues completely outside his mathematical expertise) indicate that he's unlikely to be taken seriously again even in mathematics (unless he does something spectacular with the Boltzmann equation or the Riemann hypothesis).
@@cg8397 En tant que matheux, je trouve ça regrettable

@@MaloGuillaumeLeCoat Yes, but there needs to be a socialist transition.
@@jackmccourt3542 No UA-cam or internet would've been created for you to write that comment in a communist world. Have you even looked into communist society in the Soviet Union? It was harsh, and expensive to buy even necessities!
Socialists are so obsessed with equality that they completely forget about quality of life.
@@Andreas4696 Are you joking? The creation of the internet and also cell phones was a direct result of government funding and research. The private sector wouldn't have accomplish these creations and many others because they weren't "profitable" enough.
@@jackmccourt3542 Fair enough, but there's no evidence to suggest that the private sector wouldn't have created something similar or even better. Also, how do you know that a socialist system would've allowed for these products to be commercially available?
That's the real issue here, the Army or whatnot might invent products for its own use, but only a private company has the profit motive to actually mass produce such products.
To me that's a lot better than the socialist bell curve, which is everyone collected at the bottom, lowest standard of living, with a few enormously wealthy technocrats and oligarchs (party members and such) at the top. Socialism achieves equality, it's just that everyone gets to have it equally TERRIBLE!
Running against socialists? Sounds good to me!

there is no need to reduce carbon emissions...
no one is "intelligent" enough to understand, plan and controll the economy in an efficient way. Its just way too complitcated. Every attempt will just produce more harm than good. Just give more freedom to the people and reduce the power of the government.
we actually need to do exactly the opposite. You ultras don't understand that your agenda can only lead to one thing, civil war and civilization collapse
@@r3dp1ll Well look at Nazi Germany, the UDSSR, Venzuela, ... (big government). Then look at america after the independence war, swizzerland and other more or less economically free countries (smaller government). Then look at your statement. Of course anarchy is bad but a very small government that just protects the propery of the people is much more efficient than centralized planning.

The only thing the reduction of carbon emissions achieves is reducing the overall GDP of countries.
@@carlosc.1568 No. Greenhouse effect is real and we have to address it by a transition from fossil fuels to more eco-friendly ones like nuclear and solar erergies. If done properly, in no way would it cause a reduction of the gdp

Carlos C. Not harmful? Interesting... In my country animals were sick from heatstroke this summer which never happened, and some vines died, it was pretty alarming, they turned black. The concentration of sugar in the grapes were abnormal because all the water evaporated, the wine markers had never seen that.
