- Jesus promised that He would build His church, and through the centuries He has been doing just that-even when forces of darkness seek to destroy it. In pursuing reform, the Reformers knew that the local church was central. This session looks at the importance of our local churches, considers our need for ongoing reform in accordance with the Word of God, and encourages Christians in the ordinary tasks of serving and supporting their local churches for continuing Reformation in the world.

Which He entrusted into the care of Peter and the Apostles prior to His departure and Ascension into heaven,
"Whoever receives you, receives Me; whoever rejects you, rejects Me AND He who sent Me (i. e. the Father)". Matthew 10: 40

Jesus did not simply build his church on any foundation. He carefully chose a candidate in Peter whom he declared as the rock and also whom he had given the key of heaven!
Upon what, will He build His Church? Some say Peter's testimony, others, Peter himself. But I'd like to look at this from another angle... I think Jesus is saying that it's NOT upon what has been revealed by flesh & blood.... Rather, by what is REVEALED BY JESUS' FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN....That His Church is build upon revelation from God. Amen
Only God elevated Simon Bar Jonah to a place of high honor BY HIS GRANTING Peter FAITH that Yeshua was in fact the MESSIAH, the Son of The Living God. It is a granting of high honor that God bestows to ALL of HIS CHOSEN children, that is, FAITH in Yeshua as the saviour of all men who believe in His propitiation for our sins.
Man has built thousands of churches/denominations in the name of Jesus not realizing they have locked Jesus outside not allowing Jesus to build His Church. Also in history there are many claims from men and women that Jesus (a counterfeit Jesus) said to them, “go build My church”. Many other churches/denominations have been created in Jesus’ name with good intention, but the consequences of all this is confusion is division, and eternal death. Jesus did not say to anyone, not even to Peter, “go build My church”, instead Jesus said, "I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”.

@@eddyrobichaud5832 He's Catholic. Even though one of their "counsels" declared Protestants to be Brothers most Catholics still consider us lost. No salvation outside "the holy mother church" and such. 🤷

The "Lord´s Recovery" or "Local Church" teaches that God approves of only one way to establish a valid church. They claim there should be only one church per city, like there was in the 1st century: the church in Ephesus, the church in Corinth, the church in Smyrna, so today - the church in Los Angeles, the church in New York, the church in London. Anything else is a division and not blessed by God.
Though it be not obvious to all but I dare say the quote from Mr. John Woodhouse is more of a common sense blast of wind. I have rarely heard such an elegant expression closely resembling that of beating a dead horse. Obviously if they are not believers and they are not speaking of the Holy God then they are not a church.I can say with fervor the obvious single syllable that comes to mind: Duh... Some times I really do wonder upon the look of the Church and what it will be like there. Surely though I need no meditation on the motives of non-believers not pretending to be believers. That I can assure you, we all can do without.
Mr. Begg, like many Protestant teachers, go around the main theme of Matthew 16 that Christ is the builder and the foundation is rock (strong and solid) which is Peter and the apostles. To deny this as the meaning of the Church is to reject Jesus. Before the great schism and the "reformation" there is the Catholic Church". No one can deny this truth. The Catholic Church claims that she is the church that Christ built. What other church has a history to claim the same? All other christian churches have their roots from the Catholic Church. She was the church of Luther, Calvin, and other "reformers". Many strong Protestants have come home to our Mother Church like GK Chesterton, Blessed Cardinal John Newman, and Scott Hahn. The Catholic Church is rich with holy saints and martyrs who gave up themselves for God and His people, like Saint Maximillan Kolbe, Saint Mother Teresa, Saint Therese, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Saint Francis. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He didn't leave us orphan and shepherdless. He gave us the apostles and their successors, the bishops and priests.. He gave us Peter to "tend His sheep and to lead His Church. He gives us the popes to succeed him. Protestants go by bible alone as their authority. How can a book tell them if they are right or wrong? We need the authority of the church or else we will be like a flock without a shepherd.

How sad for the souls to thought that it was ok to live in sin and take care of it in purgatory will not agry that it is the banner of truth! Let's follow and look to Jesus Christ only and his word through the holy spirit. That nobody will perish my fellow neighbor! I love you in Jesus Christ as a neighbor and hopefully a true brother in the spiritual body of Jesus Christ.
