Powai is located in the central suburbs of Mumbai. It is also known as residential suburb of Mumbai.
Powai is mainly known for :
1. Indian Institute of Bombay (1958) - Its a Premium Engineering Institute of India. Second oldest IIT after IIT Kharagpur.
2. Powai Lake - Artificial (Man made) lake constructed in 1890 by the British Government to meet the demands of drinking water at that time.
3. Hiranandani Gardens - It is a 250 acre of township located on the banks of Powai lake. It was constructed in the early 90’s and now is the home for many known personalities including businessman, politicians, actors and many more.
Its architecture is designed in such a way that when one takes a walk around of this township, it feels like walking in London, Milan or Italy. This place will give you vibes of some European country. Also this place has many other special importance such as the first D-Mart store of India, Eco-friendly 5 Star hotel, first SEZ of Mumbai etc.
