Shaped boards are hit or miss. I love the Andy Anderson Powell Peralta Flight deck. But at the same time I did have to really get used to skating it. Not so much for ollies or 180s or riding around. But flip tricks definitely can require adjusting a bit. And it's not like the board doesn't flip. It does flip. But you definitely have to 'find your flick'. I also had another shaped deck (well, mostly it just had a super short tail, the rest was basically like popsicle shape but with a slightly non-standard concave) that was just basically not skateable at all for me. I kept sliding off the tail during popping and landing. It was a disaster. Unfortunate too, because the boards are only $30 and very strong (they're Decathlon brand, blank decks). With the exception of the Andy board, I don't think I would be in the market for shaped decks any time soon.
Same as the guy before me, most shaped decks work pretty normal but take some readjusting. As long as they have "normal length" nose and tails, most tricks work the same, but boxy tails can make it harder to scoop and more tapered noses can give you more toe/heel drag on your nose slides/crooks.
I ride shaped decks ca. every 3rd board I set up, just to keep it fresh and challenge myself a bit. Also because they mostly look sick! If you are confident in your bag of tricks, it's also cool to try and figure out how to adapt and improve on different shapes. I think it can make you a better over all skater.
I rode a Welcome deck (Nora V shape 8,6") last year and really liked it. So much in fact that I bought the same one again and will set it up soon. I got another Welcome Chris miller 8,75" in the queue, which is also kinda pool shaped - gotta see how that feels. But I agree, their shapes and art are what draw me back to them for sure.
Love the videos, keep it up! Greetings from Finland!
Good for cruising and transition. Not good for flat tricks and stuff like that
I have this board your riding. It's my favorite board I've ever bought😁
this content arouses me the deeper i plunge into the addictive satisfaction of father arryns consistent tricks
Heyyyyy nice pfp dad
Father Arryn
shaped boards rule, that welcome doesnt even look too shapey to be fair haha! might just be the square based tail. try a moontrimmer shaped (regular tail, shaped nose) id also say chuck a bunch of washers onto your wheels to get the full truck and also to protect your axles so the bolt gets mashed and not the actual axle!
That board has a 14.75" wheelbase which is quite long for that width board and is going to effect all the flip tricks that aren't a strict kick or heel. That's probably a bigger change than the flatness.
I’ve skated some different skateboard shapes in my skateboard life , but for me the square noses are the best!!! 🛹
dam arryn and the boys been puttin in that work yall r rippin
