I still have all of the original decks from the Bones Brigade. Animal Chin was the inspiration for starting that collection back in the day. Love to see these boards from back when I started skating. Been at it since 85 and still going, although now it's on Andy's deck.
Push yourself Aaron, you are a rolemodel in the skate community.. also Gabe: drop in on the Vert please, we need you!!! Fantastic video as always, you guys rock
You are bringing me back to when I was 13, I had that exact board in the same color way, in a mini board. The MCTwist was invented by Mike McGill on that board.
Braille skateboarding is so awesome. A couple friends and I decided to get into skating together this spring and shortly thereafter I discovered you guys. I watch the videos every day and it inspires me to keep at it! I’m progressing slowly but surely. Landed my first rolling shuv it yesterday. (Can’t Ollie yet 😆)
I never skated but most of my friends did & I remember boards like this in the mid 80s . Now it kills me to see skaters without rails on their boards just tearing the graphic up under the board . Back then the graphics were so cool & you didn’t want to tear them up . I rode BMX freestyle & in 1989 Haro bicycles came out with the first ever bash guard bike & I put a hot pink skateboard rail on the bottom of the bash guard using longer bolts & thee aesthetics of it was way cool . Nobody in my neighborhood even thought of using a skateboard rail on the bottom of their bash guard , it made for better rail slides on the bike & protected the metal plate on the bottom & nobody that had the same bike as me didn’t pick up on what was on the bottom of the bike until bike company’s started making the bottom plate like a big skate rail , I thought of it first way before bike company’s were doing it .
My dad showed me his old powell-peralta Steve Caballero deck, and told me what skating was like in the 80's. He's one of the main reasons I got into skating, and he still rides it occasionally. it's so cool to see a fragment of skateboard history still in use today.
Yeah this is cool. I've got my Dad's old 70s fibreglass board lying around somewhere. It's in pretty rough shape, but I think it's time I finally gave it some love.
Ok guy's, Now you have an 80s setup . Give it some fresh bearings in those wheels, get some of the old 80s launch ramp plans we all used back in the day and build it . Let's see a full 80s jump ramp contest .
The McGill board was my first pro board I had, loved it, just picked up the 40th anniversary board put it on my wall, love it, excellent video, thanks.
that deck was my first real board. it was awesome. i had those wheels also on another deck. those boards back in the 80's were real tough, either that, or i was real small. haha
Ya guys started trying tre's I'm going "If I can tre my hammerhead, you can tre a Powell board." Also Gabe dropped in on it for his 13,981st drop in on vert to give Nigel the courage to try it. Gratz on getting the Madonna on a fish tail Gabe!
I still own a perfectly usable caballero powell peralta board from the 80's with plastic side rails and tail skid. Don't ride it much, but it is useful for moving large furniture.. ;)
Go grab a board and some pads and start rolling. Also be prepared to be called the fossil for being the oldest person at a park lol. Ive been the fossil every time I go out minus one time.
@Timothy Quinn LOL, I'll definitely have to put it on my to-do list lol. I have to much on there now. I saw their video with the Epic grind shoes, so I bought me a pair, and now trying to learn to grind with them. While at the same time, I'm also currently learning how to grind on a pair of blades lol.
I definitely do agree that you guys should put out a line of skateboards more '80s graphics inspired. Like some iron maiden stuff or like old dark star stuff
😂😂😂😂 my place of employment is right next to the train tracks as well. Every gosh darn 1min and 30 secs there is a train blasting by screaming its horn. There is no getting used to it and it's by far the most maddening thing on this planet.😂😂😂
Those swappeed truck hangers remind me of when we would use tracker ultralight baseplates with gullwing hangers. I liked the Magnesium Street Shadow hangers cuz th3 Tracker mags seemed to wear down fast in the streets.
correct. they dont make graphics like that nor do they make ANYTHING today like they did in the 80s including skaters. You guys are standing on over 40 yrs of history right there. I personally would be honored to ride a deck like that.
My buddy had essentially that same board while I was riding a Vision Psycho Stick. I broke my board when he went to college, but got a new board. A Vision Groholski that I had forever but sold about 6 years ago, it was like new. He rarely came back home during college so it was only ridden a few times, kinda wish I hadn't sold it.
I'd put that skate on the wall bros, it's a collectors item. Had the same deck and wish I still had it. My brother borrowed it and I never saw it again. Best graphics from powell peralta back in the day. Don't break that skate... its worth alot. Send it to me. Lol. 👍👊😎
To be fair, that's a McGill deck. So it's really more suited to vert than park or street. Still tho, yeah. It's just before boards started getting SERIOUS concave. Spoon noses and concave tails even. And longer noses with a bit more angle.
Six track ultra light tracker trucks on that board.. but talk about trucks should see deadbolt trucks and gullwing trucks and cutter trucks and g&s . alot them made composite or plastic base plates.. Braille..!!
Skateboards have not changed since 1995. The standard has been straight popsicles for the past 30 years. It kinda sucks. I'm just glad they do shapes now. I like what Anderson is doing.
Hate to say i agree with Aaron but maybe recreating so old skate videos like Splendid Eye Torture, Shackle me not, or wheels of fire maybe back when there was a definite difference for today's style of skating
So get this I am 41 this year in August when I was 7 years old I was in Cub scouts and there was a scout-O-Rama and I had to sell tickets to it and I sold enough tickets to get the skateboard that was the exact same shape as what you're writing with the rail bars but it had a bump stop on the back and a nose guard but it was sky blue and had wrapping riding a skateboard in a wheelie with a big V8 motor and him cranking gears on the bottom. The bumpers all around were orange and the wheels but the skateboard with sky blue. Watching you guys skate this makes me laugh
Those are Tracker Ultra Lite trucks on that McGill board, I know Tony Hawk use to skate them trucks before he went to indy. Yeah baseplate some kind of plastic but you would be surprised how strong they are.I still have one of my boards from the 80s wit them on there the Hawk claw board,Tracker trucks, and slimball wheels
Nigel somber stone 7 is in the capital city sewers with the giant scorpions. Your welcome my guy 🤗 there others but that's probably the easiest one to get early
And just think Old Uncle of Willie learn how to ollie on one of those skateboards in 1983, and and I can finally pop one off again now. Even if it's a miniature. But y'all can see now why the ollie any ollie over 10in high was a feat back then.
to be fair the graphics of Powell were .. not exactly 80s style graphics.. VC Johnson was a fine artist who could have worked outside of the skateboarding realm but Powell hooked him. 80s style graphics are more like Vision street wear stuff... or Zorlac ect. Powell still use all those images to this very day so it's in the realm of 'timeless' style. That's why it holds up today - it's beyond 'pop art' or trend based.
Or bring Braille to Mike McGill. They could do a skate anything wars, the all that you can carry game, hit a local park or a few spots, maybe some All Terrain! There ya go Braille whole weeks worth of content.
Huge shout out to Ryan for flying all the way across the country to bring us this board!
Always fire 🔥 even first try it!
What happened to MC nug? Bring back chris
They won't say.
@@davidhamilton2682 great ?
shaped boards are here to stay
I'd be down for some Braille 80's style graphics🛹 🤘
And shapes, That would be gnarly!
and apparel !
80's had cool designs for Skate decals graphics
definitely the best, Porca Madonna!
100% I'd buy one for sure. Hope he sends to Australia
I still have all of the original decks from the Bones Brigade. Animal Chin was the inspiration for starting that collection back in the day. Love to see these boards from back when I started skating. Been at it since 85 and still going, although now it's on Andy's deck.
Worth bank
I started skating in 88 and i wish i still had some of my old decks
3:29 "Camo pants and purple shoes. It's like, are you trying to hide or be seen?" Lmaooo
YES, an 80s themed skate vlog. Everyone has to dress up. Try and locate some old or even new vision street wear shoes, airwalk shoes, etc.
Airwalks!!
Thank you for not breaking that historical artifact! I was going to have an aneurysm!
Push yourself Aaron, you are a rolemodel in the skate community.. also Gabe: drop in on the Vert please, we need you!!! Fantastic video as always, you guys rock
You are bringing me back to when I was 13, I had that exact board in the same color way, in a mini board. The MCTwist was invented by Mike McGill on that board.
mctwist is still underrated to this day
I skate an 80s powell ripper board and they are so sick!! Love to see you guys ripping the Mcgill
sick, my popsicle deck is a Ripper 8.0
NOT an original however. This deck is worth hundreds of dollars if not more
Aaron should frontside 50-50 a circle handrail.
Braille skateboarding is so awesome. A couple friends and I decided to get into skating together this spring and shortly thereafter I discovered you guys. The weight difference is significant. A testament to the pros of yester year that could shred with those coffins.
I used to have that Mike McGill deck, myself.
My dad showed me his old powell-peralta Steve Caballero deck, and told me what skating was like in the 80's. He's one of the main reasons I got into skating, and he still rides it occasionally. it's so cool to see a fragment of skateboard history still in use today.
Braille straight 80's Graphics I agree pick a favorite graphic/skater/artist and put a Braille spin on it
I always liked Zorlac graphics
Yeah this is cool. I've got my Dad's old 70s fibreglass board lying around somewhere. It's in pretty rough shape, but I think it's time I finally gave it some love.

That brings back memories. Love the Vision Street Wear decal. I still wear my vintage VSW's.
dogg i almost wore mine today
that deck was my first real board. it was awesome. i had those wheels also on another deck. those boards back in the 80's were real tough, either that, or i was real small. haha
An 80s collection would be dope. Yall should try to do a collab with jim phillips
"Christopher Heitt all the way!!" Agreed!
you all should do old school only game of skate
Friggin sweet. I love skateboards man. That rad old board was waiting years to get back to work.
Lol, love the Elden Ring banter. XD
Braille changed my live forever!!!!
Ya guys started trying tre's I'm going "If I can tre my hammerhead, you can tre a Powell board." Also Gabe dropped in on it for his 13,981st drop in on vert to give Nigel the courage to try it. Gratz on getting the Madonna on a fish tail Gabe!
I had no idea 1988 was 40 years ago!
These are the skateboards these tricks were invented on.
Love the content! Keep it up guys!!!💙
Thanks
I still own a perfectly usable caballero powell peralta board from the 80's with plastic side rails and tail skid. Don't ride it much, but it is useful for moving large furniture.. ;)
Best idea AK recreate 80s vid. Siiick
Can't deny anymore, y'all vids make me wanna learn how to skateboard lol. I'm 39, but if Purple can do it, maybe I can at least learn to kickflip lol.
Go grab a board and some pads and start rolling. Also be prepared to be called the fossil for being the oldest person at a park lol. Ive been the fossil every time I go out minus one time.

Aaron what about Braille do a shaped board with a touch of old school for the the old cats out there, that are still stuck in the past. 😜
We did this one with Ps Stix www.brailleskateboarding.com/products/old-school-monster-complete
@@brailleskateboardingThank you for your answer. I just checked it out, it looks very cool and that it is done by Paul Schmitt, I am sold!
That was the most boss deck in the mid 80's, and we all did our grip tape like that.
I like this video idea
😂😂😂😂 my place of employment is right next to the train tracks as well. Every gosh darn 1min and 30 secs there is a train blasting by screaming its horn. There is no getting used to it and it's by far the most maddening thing on this planet.😂😂😂
Braille 90s shape decks would be sick aswell as 90s graphics!!!
This video makes me feel very old hahaha
Same 😂
80s braille all day 🔥💯 bring the rad back 🤙🏽
Aaron 50-50s the rail in the same episode Gabe drops in on vert. Let's go!!!
the Braille teams needs to recreate "The search for Animal chin" Ending at the chin ramp at the Y.

Those swappeed truck hangers remind me of when we would use tracker ultralight baseplates with gullwing hangers. I liked the Magnesium Street Shadow hangers cuz th3 Tracker mags seemed to wear down fast in the streets.
Gotta love mogley : ) Such a positive person, Cannot respect him more!

for some reason I luv these boards great vid 💪
that deck is sick.. mike hill was my fave back in the day...
Also I love your vids it taught me how to skate
I'm gonna be honest Nigel Ryan Jones, IDK how you late flip those front shuvs.
I'd put that skate on the wall bros, it's a collectors item. Had the same deck and wish I still had it. My brother borrowed it and I never saw it again. Best graphics from powell peralta back in the day. Don't break that skate... its worth alot. Send it to me. Lol. 👍👊😎
Original Bonite board to boot.
"Now THAT'S a Skateboard!" Mike V.
wouldn't it make for a more compelling episode if actually tried to do 80's tricks on an 80's board?
This is cool and fun video idea Braille
more shaped boards plz 👍
One of my all time favorite graphics
To be fair, that's a McGill deck. So it's really more suited to vert than park or street. Still tho, yeah. It's just before boards started getting SERIOUS concave. Spoon noses and concave tails even. And longer noses with a bit more angle.
Man I miss Mr. McNugget!! When is he done down south?
I like your vids so much pls make more
I remember them days I had one of those exact same boards a different color
Sir you landed that kick flip first try that is awesome
Those trucks are Tracker ultralights. A lot of pros skated them back in the day including Hawk.
We need a full park game of skate with that board 😎
odds on Aaron dressing like Glo for 1 week?
Lets glo
I have maybe over 100 decks from some bootlegs to original nos to reissue.. i hope braille make shape decks and 80s and early 90s graphics
Six track ultra light tracker trucks on that board.. but talk about trucks should see deadbolt trucks and gullwing trucks and cutter trucks and g&s . alot them made composite or plastic base plates.. Braille..!!
Recently bought a board like that with big soft wheels to use as a cruiser board when I want to just take laps around my downtown area.
6:00 lmao, the "special trick" sound from the tony hawk games is my notification sound so it confused me
I still have my 80’s McGill board! The tail is all chipped up from using it to stop back in the day. Lol
There's people who can grind round rails, and there's people like me who just about die on round rails.
In before " dont break the 90s , 2000s and 2010s skateboard"
I wish they weren't so obsessed with flip tricks. them just cruising and skating vert would be interesting by itself.
Sounds fun
I have this exact deck. Same year, same graphic. Its a huge deck but really fun to ride.
Skateboards have not changed since 1995. The standard has been straight popsicles for the past 30 years. It kinda sucks. I'm just glad they do shapes now. I like what Anderson is doing.
Every trick im sweating bullets. Old powell peralta boards are lotsa $$$
Yes totally
Hate to say i agree with Aaron but maybe recreating so old skate videos like Splendid Eye Torture, Shackle me not, or wheels of fire maybe back when there was a definite difference for today's style of skating
Yup we were doing the tricks you guys do now on boards like that in the 80s show respect to old f&_ks
I just got back into skateboarding, and I just want to land my second kick flip in all my 35 years 😂

The whole crews here today!
I found a board in my garage that looked a lot like this, also probably from the 80s. it was some Australian pro’s model
