Happy Saturday everyone! Now that the new Prius is in the lineup, is there still a reason to get a Corolla Hybrid? Let us know which one you'd get between the two!
Nope there isn’t. I’d rather get an Elantra hybrid, upcoming civic hybrid, or even the Camry hybrid
The only drawback on the current Prius for me is the extreme rake on the windshield angle (lower seating position) and how it might hinder my comfort inside. Everything else on the Prius was improved and that's the only reason for me to consider the Carolla.
I’d rather buy a new Prius or even the 2025 Camry LE hybrid that will arrive in dealerships next month. You get much more bang for your buck with the Prius and Camry!!
I can't find a Prius LE within 250 miles of Kansas City, and there are only 15 for sale when I expand the search radius out to 500 miles, so I guess that might be one reason someone gets a Corolla Hybrid instead of a Prius -- there's no way to buy a Prius for under $30k for a lot of people.

My new 2020 Corolla SE Sedan (built in late 2019) didn't even survive 2 years & 10K miles without a bag full of problems, defects & failures. So, good luck out there.

Yes! They have a global Corolla wagon in most other markets.
My Highlander hybrid (not grand) is more like a wagon than suv. The third row is not great but more useful than the old rear facing wagon jump seats.

I had two corolla, those cars were money savers. Enjoyed my 95 the best.

Civic is going to be a 2.0 hybrid with just under 190hp

@@naveenthemachineNo, you’re thinking of the previous generation Prius AWD, this powertrain gives you 40 HP at the rear axle now.
I think this car is great. Yeah it isn't a performance car but for me, it feels quite solid at the core. But I love its ride quality. I've been in quite a few of them over horrible roads in New Jersey and it soaks them up beautifully. I think that's the outstanding aspect of this vehicle, the ride quality. The Elantra is good too, but not quite as good. The Civic is less compliant but reasonably comfortable.
But the civic is better in every way

The only game breaker for me is the tiny screen and obsolete cluster, that's a BIT too much of a compromise, I think they can do better.
Toyota missed the mark without including the hybrid package in the hatchback trim. Secondly, the Prius AWD is a better value.

owned one for more than 1 year now, no complaints other the unbearable squeaks and rattles, tried to get it resolved at the dealer for 3 times now, still as bas as it was. Even tho the car is manufactured in Japan, the fit and finish just isn't what it was used to be.
Using the brand name (Toyota) with media perception as "perfect" vehicles, but over the last few years Toyota are using cheaper parts..........
Agreed I have a 22 Tacoma and the interior quality is just not great. Even my brothers fully loaded 23 rav4 feels so much cheaper than my wife’s 22 cx5

My son’s ‘23 SE hatchback 2wd gets him 45-48 mpg on the highway, 38-41 in town. Unless you need AWD I wouldn’t spring for the hybrid.

Wow those are pretty impressive numbers. I only get a maximum of 40 mpgs highway, and in the low-to-mid 20's in the city in my '20 SE Corolla.
Depends on where you live. The tiny rear motor does make a difference. It's meant to help in icy winter or going up slippery hills.
Still its own class: Compact + hybrid + AWD.
AWD is better for a third of the states + all of Canada. Therefore, this hybrid matched to an AWD option totally makes sense.

I had a mid-2000 Corolla and it was a boring drive. A lot has changed, but I can't see myself buying that one even though I have a limited budget. Thanks for the video.

I generally like your reviews. However, when you use the word “pathetic” in the context you used, I feel you are straddling the line between car enthusiast and snob. Some of us that are on a budget need a car such as this Corolla. I have owned two Corollas and they were both reliable - both lasted well over 250K km.
I think you have a valid point.. I don't think Sofyan is aiming to belittle the budget-mined crowd, but I do believe different wording is in order.. This is a fantastic car and can hold its own 👍
I own the 2024 Corolla Hybrid SE awd and the awd is unnecessary i would rather have the fwd and better mpg. But in Canada you can only get awd in the se trim. If the civic hybrid was available i would have bought that instead tbh

I have a 2020 se sedan 6sp and I’m always wishing it had 20-30 more horsepower and torque. It would be perfect then. But Toyota refuses to let that little car have power. And the GR is out of the question💰.😶
@@jonlosito2004 the non hybrid Corolla has a 2.0 4 that has 169hp. There's no reason they couldn't team the hybrid system up with that engine like in the Corolla cross.
Just because it doesn't need a lot of power, doesn't mean 138hp is enough. The next gen Camry (which is only in hybrid) is gonna have close to double this cars output.

The 1.8 with AWD is just exceptionally great/fast in the city, (can catch an SI from 0-70km/h) and adequate on the highway too. the 2.0 and 2.4 have EGR valve issues that need a big maintenance every 60k miles or so. I'll pass. Why do people act like they know a lot about engines..
So this car can go from Detroit to Chicago and back to Detroit on one tank of gas and still have 100 miles left to go to work for one week for $37 dollars or .07¢ a mile worth of gas and you never have to make a stop. Beat that Tesla model 3
Just last week, I took a FWD hybrid from Saginaw to Cincinnati and back. Ironically, I work at a Toyota dealership, and had to go down there for training. Leaving with a full tank, I went 329 miles and averaged 52.9 MPG and arrived at my hotel with just under a half tank remaining (it has an 11.3 gallon tank)! Makes me think it's a little underrated. If you drive it right, the Corolla hybrid gets CRAZY fuel economy numbers, rivaling what the Prius is advertised at.

When it comes to this segment of car, I think this is the best looking exterior out there. It's subjective, of course. I'd like a bit more power, though. I'd take ~40mpg in the city, but closer to the 7 second 0-60, but that's just me.
It doesn't compare to the Prius in Canada. There's about a $10000 delta here.
The front end looks heavy (bumper wise) I still like the Corolla 😊 except for the transmission 😖

You can get lower trims and as someone who owns a Corolla, the best trim for your buck especially in Canadian spec is the LE trim. It has all the features that you know you can use everyday 😊

The civic hybrid available here in the UK, has 140bhp. I don't know if it will be the same specification as the hybrid you will get.

It doesn't have a cvt , Toyota is selling a boring reliable car with crappy features . It's also not a hatch , which I would not go without . I'm just glad that we got our car before the endless clusterf**k , that is continuing . If I wanted this car , I would be waiting for quite a while . Very little appeal to me , low not very roomy , I live I Canada a d use my heated seats and steering wheel for half of the year . The heated rear seats and front ventilated seats , I don't care about . But I do like the 2 way memory front seats a lot . My neighbour works at a Toyota Dealership , and he told me it's a 2 year wait on some new cars . He drives an older Venza , which I really like except for the poor gas milage . The new ones , the price is atrocious .
I understand why this vehicle lacks some of the tech stuffs to keep the price low and in return you get AWD and hybrid systems and i am actually ok with this. By the end of the day, it's a safe, reliable and fuel economy car wich get you from point A to point B. A perfect first car though. Nowadays, it's hard to find a new "affordable car" so i'm ok with it.
The thinking of a Corolla or civic being first car needs to change because people with families will buy those especially those families and keep it till wheels fall off and buy another one as well.

Not bad, but not good either. At least the powertrain is bulletproof. I think I will look at the Elantra Hybrid, particularly the Blue trim. That car get 51 City / 58 Highway vs Corolla LE 53 City / 46 Highway with better tech and no markups.

I would only consider this vehicle if it was the top of the line XLE model, which includes the heated Soft-tex seating with a power driver's seat. While this trim level doesn't offer all-wheel drive, that's a feature that most folks who are buying or leasing this vehicle don't care about.
I almost bought this car but with out Awd but I went with the camry xse red with black roof for about the same price it's a 22 tho but 7.000 miles for 27 800
Toyota must have some sort of cold weather package that was not included. A lot of people going with AWD are in the snow belt soooo heated seats are almost a must especially at 29K. Other than that a non offensive daily driver.

Problem is, the new Prius looks cooler, has better mpg, has more space as a hatchback, and is quicker and safer to get up to speed turning the intersection or merging onto the highway, for just a little bit more money.
I’m a big Toyota fan but if I’m being honest I’m disappointed in this generation Corolla and the new Prius I’m 5’11” I’m on the bigger side and I didn’t feel comfortable in either I own a 17 Corolla and I’m a lot happier with space and storage but the Corolla cross I was pretty comfortable in
Corolla still looks fine considering its age. I think only the Mazda 3, Nissan Sentra, and Kia Forte are truly more handsome. The interior has become outdated though. Still an excellent option in a class starved of hybrids.
But the Elantra has a hybrid and it’s more modern
The civic is also offering one and both make the corolla even more ancient than when it first debuted
@@naveenthemachine Details regarding the Civic Hybrid are still scarce but I expect pricing to be closer to the Prius than the Corolla. Also, I'd take the "ancient" Corolla over the Elantra, which I think is as hideous as the 4th gen Prius.
The Corolla still looks bland and slightly kiddish compared to the Civvic and Mazda 3.
And it really lags behind the competition in every way 😂
Just got a Civic EX-L and the Mazda and Civic are far superior in almost every way. The only reason to get this is if mpg is the top and only priority

Car looks fantastic. With Toyota's experience building hybrids, I'm sure it will be very reliable as well I just can't wrap my head around the price! 30K for a Corolla yikes! New cars have gotten expensive. If people didn't 'need" all that tech, plus hybrid, prices would surely be more reasonable.

I love my Corolla Hybrid but the EPA wrong with their numbers. According to the numbers I’m supposed to have about 400 miles of range but in reality I can get about 350 miles if I’m lucky.

Also, I would rather have a car with basic interior yet rear double wishbone suspension, than incorporating a luxurious interior with the severely inferior rear solid axle suspension!
In my country, people buy a merc with solid axle, but super luxurious interior.

Toyotas are poor quality now. Their fit and finish fall way behind the competition. And I hate to say this but Tesla fit finish is better than Toyotas now. Not to mention Lexus is no longer luxury. The L logo means Lackluster
Besides you can get an independent rear suspension AND a luxurious cabin in Mazda Honda Hyundai Kia.

If you look at Lexus they’ve significantly downgraded their materials. For starts, they’ve moved away from any wood trim. The Tx and GX don’t offer it, and the RX has two tiny pieces of wood. Thats it. It’s not as much as other brands offer
Lexus is using injection molded plastics and hard plastics like Toyota in their cabin. There’s no elegance to the interiors except the lc500
Not to mention that they don’t offer luxury features and they really emphasize on recycling Toyota fwd platforms down to a corolla
As for kia, their interiors are far nicer than lexus now. The designs look very European since kia has engineers and designers from Audi Mercedes bmw Porsche Bentley etc. not to mention they offer state of the art tech and features you can’t get on just about every Lexus product. Like heated 3rd row, remote parking, massaging seats, better infotainment etc
The last longer because they're boring and lifeless. You can't get in trouble by stressing the car because it won't let you.

The Corolla is the number one selling compact family sedan in America, the number one selling vehicle in the world, and once again, here's a UA-camr not recommending it. The Prius has been dragged by reviewers for 25 years, and now they say if you're not buying a Prius, you're making a mistake. How about you just review what you have in front of you and keep your biased opinion out of the video.
For those who dont understand what a lot of us are saying. You know the lc500h, the rx500h f sport performance, the es300h, the gs450h. Yeah. *DRIVE THOSE* and then come back to me about this is decent.
Depends on what you want. If you want fuel economy and dont have to prove anything with acceleration like a high school boy the Corolla Hybrid will be your best bet.

The lc500h is useless. The rx500h f sport “performance” (yeah right 🙄) is slow. The es300h is just a Camry hybrid w lipstic. The gs450h is slow and way overpriced

Seriously better off getting a used Sentra. 1.8 liter engine that makes the same power and roughly same mpgs. Its faster and cheaper. Besides interior amenities you aren’t missing much from the corolla if anything.

My 2020 Corolla hybrid has much of a better dash. Mainly all digital and looks modern. Idk why Toyota made the Interior look 8 years old

Toyota will never do that. They know they’re no longer competitive and relevant in the industry. They’re far too overrated focusing on fleets and mediocrity. Toyotas philosophy is “you pay more but you get less of everything”
@@naveenthemachine In 2016 they offered a Corolla with a 2.5 lts and a V6 RAV 4. For the next gen they have to be competitive because now, they are the slowest of the compact sedan class.

Why does everyone insist that even an economy car is fast? Need power to get out of the way? I drove a land yacht with 80hp for years, and yeah, it was slow. Or I could SAVE money and get the standard non hybrid Corolla SE with 30 more HP for LESS, *OR* if I want a Corolla hybrid, I could get pay a little more and get the cross hybrid with 70 more HP, *OR* I can wait a little and pay a bit more to get the next gen Camry hybrid with almost *100* more HP
or I can get a Prius. All way better than this.
