I'm an ex-Muslim from Pakistan, and this video about growing up Mormon reminded me of my own experience with Islam. Both religions have a lot in common, and both can be extreme and misogynistic. once you leave it is easy to feel very lonely as you often get outcasted by your community. btw i love your whispers, love from 🇵🇰
wow our experience is so similar. im also an ex muslim from iran and currently living there and its so hard to be limited by religion every living day.
Hi back from Pakistan, friend! I'm still a Muslim and it definitely is an uphill battle removing the threads of toxic, extremist culture from the true essence of Islam. Sometimes it's hard to know what that even looks like. Wishing you lots of love, guidance and peace in your journey. Pakistan is not an easy place to be an ex Muslim for sure. Sending you love ❤❤
Interesting topic! I like hearing stories from people growing up differently than I did. I was raised by atheist college professors and didn't have any kind of church experience except for the occasional wedding. Great video! ❤😊
i grew up catholic in the most atheist country in europe, with parents that didn't force me to continue going to church for too long once i said i wanted to leave the church and it still messed me up in insane ways, so i cant even begin to imagine how hard it must've been for you. sending positive vibes your way 🫶
The last week I’ve been coming back to this video. I am going to watch it all but I just can’t stay awake! 😆 my goal is to finish it AWAKE. So relaxing💤💞
I’ve been hearing of a huge wave of Mormons converting to Eastern Orthodoxy in Utah, especially SLC. One of the larger Orthodox parishes there currently has seventy (!) catechumen (a catechumen is someone in a formal learning phase, it’s usually a few months and then you’re baptized). For context, it’s considered incredible if a moderately-sized parish has a dozen catechumen at any one time. Seventy is unheard of in the US. Just interesting. At my Orthodox parish here in Northern Nevada we have a few ex-mo folks.
I grew up in a nondenominational Christian community and everyone was always so loving and kind and supporting to one another and the community. It ruled and it still rules
no meaning of disrespect to anyone but I have certain feelings about using the idea of potentially not being with your loved ones after death to get people to do things. that's just me. doesn't sit right

Fortunately, we can grow up and make better decisions, including leaving what is objectively a cult

Agree
Definitely so manipulative, especially when no one can say what happens after death for a fact
