This is the best instrument I know, easy to use and it really works, it can be measured esr even in the presence of voltage for batteries, that makes it totally useful, I have one and I want the new one that just came out, blue esr # 2, which already incorporates an audible voice to hear the numbering, excellent team.
I have the same one, I bought it as a DIY kit to assemble, even cheaper than the all-assembly version, a few years ago from the official dealer, it is very precise and helps me a lot in my repairs: -)
These reviews I am seeing on Internet do not say anything about input protection, when someone goes to test electrolytics and forgotten to discharge the electroylics, and the charged electrolytic damages the meter. I made two of Bob Parkers meters he had published on "Silicon Chip" magazine in the late 1990's both of them still work, but I have heard of the same meters have been damaged, so the programed IC had to be replaced, Since Bob Parker designed the AnaTek meter I suspect he has included the input protection just in case.
"I would agree that you cannot measure the individual ESR of similar value capacitors in parallel, if the combined ESR is low enough then it would be reasonable to assume that there is no fault."
Sir, I have a couple of questions: -1. the stand was 3D printed ? If yes where I find the model file? (no success with ebay) -2. changing that tested bad capacitor the repair was successfull? Thanks.
You can download the chart for the old Dick Smith Electronics version of the meter, from bobparker.net.au/esr_meter/2003esrchart.txt It's a lot easier to use than the graph on the Blue ESR meter.

Thank you for our video. If the capacitor you're checking is in parallel with other capacitors, isn't the reading false? Thx.
