Arcane is absolutely an amazing show, however I wish more credit would be attributed to Fortiche (the studio that actually did the animation??) and not just Riot Games. Also, PSA season two won't be released until 2023 which is a looong time, but at least it's not 6 YEARS like the first season 🙏😭

If you actually pay attention and not focused on "oh my god these multi million company doesn't deserve that" mindset you'll know how much the rioters (devs and writers) show appreciation on Fortiche production. Just look at interviews or even their tweets. I guarantee you they give enough credit for the animation team although it's not just the animation that's good in this series.

If they're going to do anything with the Noxus plot thread they introduced in the last two episodes, it is vital that Mel is there for it. Otherwise it has no reason to happen in Piltover nor do we as audience have a reason to care about Ambessa's problems.
Jinx is such a sympathetic but also terrifying character. I can’t wait to see more of her next season.
Also, Mel is amazing and deserves more love.

Everything about arcane is really gorgeous. the soundtrack/score, the voice acting, the character work... but I don't think I've been so blown away by animation as a tool for visual story telling since into the spider-verse. Arcane took a page out of the ITSV book and did what many animated shows don't do: lean into the animation. Animation can be such a powerful and efficient tool of storytelling because it's so freeing and flexible and visual. Arcane and Spider-verse prove that animation can and should be used to ELEVATE shows and movies. The Ekko vs Jinx fight is a perfect example of how animation truly elevated the show which was already incredible
About Mel in the final scene: she looks back just before the missle hits, and there is a VERYYY telling glow that starts coming off her golden bands, I 100% think she's going to put up a protective barrier and save at least some of them

If you need the context, Arcane takes place in a specific region of the fantasy world League of Legends is set in. It doesn’t follow the exact canon story of the game itself, and is more like the creative team behind the show’s own spin on the lore and story that make up the game.

Mel did all of the hard work to get Jayce where he is today tho. She let him copy off her test and he still manage to half the paper wrong. I want to see Vi accept that she can't help or fix Powder, she's Jinx now and Vi will have to live with that.
The one thing about Jayce and him kicking heimer off the board was him trying to save viktor's life to let him keep experimenting. It seemed personal, but I think he tapped in to all of the political scheming and knew exactly what to say to get him off.
Plus his deal with silco included to stop the production of shimmer. Idk how else he should've went about it? Tried to target shimmer production and take out silco, but doesn't want collateral damage. Soo.. tried to eliminate the same core issue with his only option for immediate peace(silco) with that deal.
I think Jayce gets a lot of unfair flack in general. A lot of viewers just take his character on a surface level instead of digging deeper because he's in a supposedly unrelatable position for them. He was just a dude that made some cool shit in his lab and now everyone is expecting him to be able to lead a whole city that's already on the brink of war, with no prior experience or political savvy, no actual knowledge of the situation and on top of that a corrupt sheriff tugging at his strings because he can feel the fire catching under his ass the more Jayce digs into everything, so he purposefully puts him on the wrong track and suggests bad solutions to the situation to cover his own ass. The moment Jayce volunteered himself to protect the city, he became a lamb for the slaughter. And the council was all too happy to do it because it meant they didn't have to do shit. Like imagine trying to diffuse a situation that has gone on for two hundred years in a week. Most people would fail spectacularly like he did. He's naive and privileged and well-intentioned, but that's not enough. He makes all of the crappy decisions most of us would do in his place, but at least he tries. That's what makes him a good character. He's the personification of the saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
@@hawkins347 Couldn't say it better. Jayce is probably the most well-written character in Arcane. Choices he faces throughout the show are literally impossible, but people are quick to throw all nuances aside and see only "bad" decisions, Jayce made.
@@AppleBaron I think a lot of that also comes from him being pitted against Viktor. People automatically heavily empathise with Viktor because he's dying and powerless and constantly in Jayce's shadow (although he actively chooses to be there), but they frequently do so to the point of romanticising him and ignoring the darker aspects of his character. I suggest rewatching his scenes with Jayce with this in mind and evaluating what he says and what Jayce is saying. Because Jayce is trying to protect people from his invention (even though he doesn't go about this in an ideal way) and Viktor completely disregards all of his efforts ("This is a poor use of our time.") although helping people should automatically entail protecting them from your creations. Viktor is wholly unbothered by people dying left and right and the possibility of the same person behind the attacks using a weapon built on their technology, while Jayce feels that keenly and is trying to do something about it.

Funfact: Riot and Fortiche didn't need the 6 years for the show but more like an extra 3-4 because they had to fundraise and work on their other really pretty projects
in the game theres an item called Locket of the iorn solari. basicly its a huge locket the grants everyone around you a shield when its activated. Mel's back design bares a striking similarity to the item. its very possible that she has the ability to protect herself and those around her
I think the gold Mel wears 24/7 is magic and might protect her but also they might kill her so her mother has a reason to go even hard on making weapons

The people who play the game don’t have much of a leg up from a regular Netflix viewer as far as story goes because it’s a competitive strategy game and there is little room to fit it in the actual game. The lore comes from promotionals and cinematics that come out sparsely and even then it’s more like a framework of a story. So for all intents and purposes this IS the story of league of legends and veteran players and people who never play video games are pretty much on the same page.
I'm honestly so glad that Arcane has opened the world of League of Legends to a much wider audience so people who don't even play the game can enjoy along with us
Oh I'm so pleased you've seen Arcane , I think it definitely deserves its flowers and the storytelling is insanely fascinating. Whether or not someone's played the games or not it provides context and depth.
I really fell in love with this show. Binged it in a single night! I'll be rewatching it this weekend too. However, if Mel doesn't survive I won't continue.

13:54 that is so interesting for u to say that since there are a lot of fan theories where ppl think that "Fishbones" (Jinx's main weapon in the game and the gun she used to kill the council in the last episode) symbolizes as Silco. Their main points were that
1) Silco had a deep love for sea creatures, as seen from his previous hide out in the first few episodes.
2) Fishbones the gun, has a scar on it's face which resembles Silco's injured eye. The scar on the gun was obviously carved in by Jinx when she made it.
3) In the game, Jinx is known to talk to her guns. In her head, Fishbones has a more serious and calm demeanor when it talks back to her. 'It's just you and me, Fishbones."
4) Fishbones is the weapon that Silco has been pushing Jinx to make in order for them to use the gemstone. So in a way, Jinx made Fishbones as a gift for Silco.
So yeah. If this theory is correct, then it makes sense that in a way, Silco isn't really dead. He lives on as Jinx's weapon who''ll always stay by her side.

I don't know much about the lore, but there is an item in the game called Zhonya's or something which can make its user invulnerable & frozen in time for a few seconds. It's mainly used to prevent death. I think Mel has that or a version of it as armor.

I am probably late but the lore behind Zaun (The Undercity's) location is that they were building a bridge to make trading easier hundreds of years ago as they weren't really connected to the rest of Runeterra (The Overall World) but it didn't go as planned. So Zaun used to be the main city until they built shiny Piltover ontop of it.

I actually think that Caitlin pushing for peace on both sides is the best option. We've seen how a revolt from Zaun has gone before, and despite Jinx's new upgrades, I don't think they'd fair much better for a second round. All it would do is cause more innocent people to die on both sides, so trying to find a peaceful solution is the best way to go about it.
I also do appreciate that Caitlin isn't going the classic "I could never believe that my home would do something like this" yeah she's shocked, but it's not like she flat out refuses to acknowledge it, which is important. I do think that Caitlin might truly be a case of someone trying to change the system from the inside, and if she's given the chance, I could see her making actual progress.
As for Jinx and Vi, I'm personally one who thinks that Jinx would have been drastically different if Vi was around. She wouldn't be perfect, she would probably still hear voices and be a little crazy, but Vi was always her rock, a good influence that looked out for her. Silco, as twisted and evil as he was, did in some twisted way care about Jinx. The issue is that he isn't a good person, and he enabled and fed into her delusions and psychosis, instead of trying to help her. I do think that Vi gets a lot of unnecessary hate for her outburst after the explosion and how she hit Powder, but the rest of her family just died... she hit Powder, verbally exploded, and then walked away to calm down and remove herself from the situation instead of letting it escalate. I hate that she blames herself for what's happened
I love the show to death but something I never understood is why did Powder run into Silco's arm despite him being the person responsible of Vander's death and everything that happened that night???
Like I get it was traumatic and overwhelming, but she clearly knows that Silco is the person behind all the shit that happened bc if Silco hadn't had kidnapped Vander then nothing would had have go wrong and everyone would be alive. Is not that she is was like 4 and had no moral criteria, she was aware of that and still chose to be with him?! idk doesn't make a lot of sense to me...
