CBS Radio MYSTERY THEATRE is a radio drama series created and directed by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982. Later in the early 2000s the show was repeated by the NPR satellite feed.
The format was similar to that of classic old time radio shows like The Mysterious Traveler and The Whistler, in that the episodes were introduced by host E. G. Marshall who provided pithy wisdom and commentary throughout. Unlike the hosts of those earlier programs, Marshall is fully mortal, merely someone whose heightened insight and erudition plunge the listener into the world of the macabre.
CBS Radio MYSTERY THEATRE was broadcast each weeknight, at first with a new program each night. Later in the run, three or four episodes were new originals each week, and the remainder repeats. There were 1,399 original episodes.

Great stories, it's something we're really missing now a days in this age of technology. Back in the day people actually had acting skills, they were so talented, they kept us entertained. It would be interesting if actors did remakes of these, would they have enough talent to pull it off without the aid of technology?
Great old shows!
Thank you soooooo much, I simply adore the RMT❤❤
Enjoying CBSRMT, thank you & have a Safe & Happy 2023 from Texas USA.
I'm so happy I came across these radio programs. What a life saver. Thank you ❤️
I fell asleep during last night's Twilight Zone premier. When I woke I turned this on and fell asleep right away again. So now I'm listening again to catch up. Hahaha. But I do love to sleep to these videos.
Isn't the best, me too
@@deborahcookston9373E.G. Marshall is a crack up, in his FIL role to Chevy Chase's Clark Griswold in Nat'l Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"!😂
I fall asleep every night to these videos. It's nice to listen and not have to watch
Better than watching tv
THANKS !
Well, youtube managed to start doing ads during these, so now I can't fall asleep to them anymore
I thought I was the only one who noticed.
Great program from the past, I love falling asleep to. Please oil that damn door E.G.
Lol, I always skip past the sqeaky door
In one episode, E.G. reveals that they DO oil the door quite regularly, but for some reason, it continues to creak anyway!
❤😂
Ooooh that door, when I settle in to listen, the squeaky door gets your mind off today and opens it to what you're about to hear, I join E.G. when he says "come in, ......welcome" 😉 be glad that door doesn't close..but stays open until the play is finished.
😂 oil the door, too funny
Thank you. It takes me a few nights to hear the entire thing. I'm out in 10 minutes . Bless you my son.
Thanks!
1:00 the terminator.
I think everyone has talked to their car at some time or another. Encouraging it to start, etc, and many do give their cars a name. Kinda gives you second thoughts on that story. Huh?
In Darling Deadly Delores: beware of AI
Thanks

Love hearing these stories while winding down for the night...
Thxs
Thank you! Very helpful!!!
9.04 pm march 27 2024my first ever add 😮 on mystery theater 😢it was about a car.
So…moder commercials are now a permanent thing on this channel?
So annoying, I can’t fall asleep now I’m waiting for the next damn ad. ,!😡
It takes a while before a YT channel can monetize. I knew this was coming and it’s brilliant, now we fall asleep and don’t skip commercials and this channel gets paid for commercials that we sleep through or try to sleep through. 🤦♂️
Everybody gotta pay bills. Just enjoy the good parts.
“A Bargain in Blood” - Of course if you had a lot of money she would say, “Yes!” 😆😂
I was enjoying this series until the very inappropriately inserted ads started throwing off the stories. If you’re going to do ads can’t you put them before and after each episode?
