Who has been a little too naughty with their marketing and product claims, especially when checked against performance.
Shockingly i ran a tad long in the awards so i am splitting into two vids. Part2 should be out next week.

apologies i have noted the comments re audio issues. I have no idea what has happened - they were not present during playback after recording, and i have not done anything different to previous vids - so the issues are a surprise. i will try to sort for part 2...... thanks for bearing with..... Fudgeking IT ./ computer issues..... i so prefer things i can take apart and put back together!
I rub Presta One Cream on my arse and it both causes and cures my saddle sores. Sad to hear this do-it-all product might no longer be available.
yeah i must admit when prestacycle was first flagged to me and i read their wet lube / dry lube on the first list of claims, i was shaking my head saying what in the actual F. Then i clicked on the bicycle creme page and saw it was a bearing grease and a degreaser and pretty much spat my coffee all over the monitor. I have no idea what the owner is /was thinking - it is literally beyond any possible comprehension to me - but i bet that kind of thinking has a clinical term from a psychologist.
The coloured Wend Wank does not surprise me as that stuff is useless to people who actually ride their bikes a lot. Those that hang their bike on the wall above the fireplace and admire it on the other hand, they love shit like this.

Yep. I just find products like that so offensive. I think it is all too easy to skip past all the corrupt steps that have to be taken for this simple thing to get on the market. I would love to have been able to be recording the meetings. Hey boss - you know that cant lubricate inside right, its a solid, you are rubbing it on the outside....... Boss - right - here is what we say..... and so on- i mean a lot of people making a lot of decisions have to know at a lot of steps that what they are doing is wrong, but they do it any to make some $$ at their customers expense. In which case they dont view as customers but suckers to fleece money from. Not cool.....

Some pretty awful audio issues on the parts with the computer screen being visible, hopefully you'll be able to do something about them before part II.
(Being a victim of Muc-Off marketing myself, I can't say how happy I am that there's someone out there doing actual independent testing on chain lubricants. I just wish more people would take notice.)
oh no - thankyou for highlighting - dammit - nothing came through when playback clips here - far out - let me know whats happening on the other end there and will try investigate for part 2. bummer is i have recorded a lot of part 2!!! but if bad i will try a re do, alas, i havent done anything different to previous where no issues present, so i am currently confused!

you are one of the lucky ones if you didnt get caught in the wend wax blitzkreig marketing! holy batman. case study on how to attain market penetration if you have the $$ to fund that level of spend.
Speculation, but i am gathering the marketing war chest can be bigger if one spent sweet F all on the product development and testing.......
The blurred background and high-backed chair are clear give aways that Adam is on a spaceship traveling at warp speed. Odd things happen at these speeds, such as inexplicable ruffling of the hairdo @1:01 😂
I can only film when we are at ludicrous speed. In normal reality i am too timid to get in front of a camera and speak hahahaha
Do you recall tobacco companies telling us cigarettes were safe? Their deception and diabolical lies were unfathomable. I have no doubt businesses can be corrupt to the core and at the highest levels. Mucoff is definitely in this group.

@@cannon1156 and the vegan world by the looks! That takes some effort to be an absolute shocker in multiple worlds!!!! The internet can be amazing, but it sadly also allows people like him to be able to negatively impact so many more people than if was born in 1920......
but in the end something is going to happen re him. As one ages if they have a screw loose they dont seem to self tighten. And as he ages, trying to be playboy just gets more and more creepy, and it will just not fly for more and more of his younger audience - he will lose the younger audience to other "cool" young vegans and cyclists - and move from cool to tool. This will leave him more and more with an older audience, but more older people can wise up a little vs falling for his crap.
All this means increasing desperation for attention amid ever falling numbers. At some point he will start really stepping over lines and going to far in a bid to reverse the trend - and this will all just help more people see him for who he truly is, and he will only be left with the worst of the worst out there as his fan base. That is not a good echo chamber to be in to encourage future content and behavior -I wouldnt be surprised if sooner or later he does something stupid enough to land him in legal hot water again much worse than previous.
What i cant fathom sometimes is i saw jesse coyle of chris miller cycling is friends with him! That is UNREAL. That is INSANE. keep this comment for posterity. Sooner or later, when venereal D finally does something so stupid and horrific that it makes big news - Jesse will drop him like a hot potato - saying oh wow i never knew he was like that etc etc. Unless you have only seen this guy for 5 mins and are half brain dead- it is obvious what he is. It is IMPOSSIBLE for jesse not to know who and what venereal D is. So when Jesse tries to walk back his relationship with him so the blowback doesnt badly damage chris miller cycling by way of Jesse being a co -host, i would like say here - he knew all along. Birds of a feather flock together so to be a long time friend of Venereal - that is just unreal for anyone in semi mainstream cycling like Jesse, so that to me raises a shit ton of concern about jesse. Explains some of the hit pieces by CM cycling i guess.....
Not sure what's going on with the audio - as one of the recommenders of Nvidia Broadcast/RTX Voice I'm annoyed that it doesn't seem to be doing the trick! There's got to be a setting or two that aren't right there. There's a fan/aircon running in the background that should be totally cut out, half the time it isn't though.....and the voice seems to be getting cut out sometimes as well. I'd say check the inputs are set correctly and nothing else is running that would try and use the mic, but it's a strange one!
yeah thanks alex - it seemed on the previous couple vids the nvidia broadcast was the bomb. Nothing changed re settings (i didnt go deep, not sure how many settings there are...) on this one. This is why they dont have me doing aircraft flight systems software hahahahaha
Ive seen mechanics who seem to genuinely care about the job fall victim to the muc off lube branding hype. when i asked one of them why they use the muc off dry lube the answer was its cheap and is made by a reputable brand so at the least it must perform decent. i showed him your ranking list and he was a little shocked!
if you heat a chain up to about 60c with a heat gun the rub on waxing method might work pretty well lol
that would need to be proven, and a heat gun can easily heat wax such that it starts to break down the base. its ok if dry ing chain post boiling water rinse to re was so little wax left on to be possibly damaged, and then its being re waxed .Doing as part of a wax application process - i would not be too certain on that...

Absolute Black has released a version 2 of their hot melt graphene wax. Are you going to test it? The first version was so disappointing. By far the worst hot melt wax I have ever tried.
Sadly not likely. Ideally what would happen in such a situation is AB would advise they identified an issue with v1, and improved v2 by doing x - provide some solid information / testing of their own to demonstrate that v2 is now awesome vs v1 - that would then justify the resources to retest v2. But i wont get that from AB. If i followed up with AB i would very likely get an email from the owner saying that v1 set an unheralded new standard of performance for immersive waxing the likes of which the world had never seen before, that all other waxes are a scam vs graphenwax v1, and the only thing ever to match the incredible leap forward in waxing made by v1 is in fact now their v2, and i want immediate agreement of this fact and that the fact that all competitors products are a scam using scam testing, and that if you dont agree to the above in writing immediately then things will become very difficult for you from here on out.
Thats pretty much my memory of how conversations were in the past. I actually had to set up a folder to send emails from them directly into that so i didnt see them anymore, personally i found them so full on as to border on bullying. When i cover graphenwax in episode 2, i would not be surprised if they take some action - they are i believe the most bullying litigious company in all of cycling. Heck even this comment could see legal action my way (which they will have to do by mail or different email address since i wont see the main one hahahaha). They have taken action against me before already.
So........ alas if it was broadly normal behaving company that would be willing to send information on v2 vs v1 and discuss openly on how and why v2 will have moved things forward - normally testing v2 of such a product i would be pretty keen to do. But with the way they are (really driven by the owner who i think must have the first PhD in bullying the industry you reside in) - i would not go near a re test.....
@@zerofrictioncycling992 I haven't seen a single positive review of this wax at the weight weenies forum in some of the huge threads about lubricants and waxing. Only people with the same experience like me. But now I understand why I haven't seen any reviews at some of the trusted sites (except yours..).

Or michael bay. How crap were his transformers movies. And just never learned - one would be completely panned, and then the major mistakes he would double down and do more of them on the next one, and repeat. Cant believe he keeps getting hired...
I hate to say this . . . however: you have heaps of great information and analysis, and are accurate and truthful in your findings, but . . . you need a script & content editor! You have a tendency to rabbit on and pad out: I have to skip over great chunks of your videos to find the meaty bits, and, while I'm at it, the "sitting in the chair voicing to the webcam" approach to video presentation is so old and hackneyed (& boring), it's been turned into an ironic meme. Please, for the sake of your channel and all your hard work in getting your expertise out there into the cycling world, see if there's someone skilled nearby that will give your approaches to video presentation a renovation and spruce-up. That being said, I've learnt a lot from your videos and website, and from a 30 year bike industry veteran who has until recently been of the opinion that waxing chains was grandpa tech (literally: my grandad used to hot wax his motorbike chains in the 1950s & 60s), you and others have succeeded in changing my mind. However, and lastly, I will never buy anything the current badge-engineered incarnation of Silca produces, it's as dishonest and meretricious as calling a BMW a Mini, or an SAIC car an MG.
Ha yes i know! alas..... whilst i will see what i can do to try and improve my presentation in 2024, being a YT creator / presenter is not my chosen career path thats for sure. I dont have script writers, nor a screen prompt, nor the time to do many ./ any of the things you are hoping for..... So i apologies in advance i cant promise how much better i will be in 2024 aside from a more committed focus to shorter and splitting vids if going to run over about 20 mins.
ZFC is very small and we are doing a lot with being very small. Friday zooms up and its like holy batman time to crank out todays topic to keep getting the information out there, and i have maybe 2hrs to film, edit and publish if im lucky - so im winging it every time. I sometimes try to prep a little in the week leading up, but have been rather unsuccessful at getting to that.
I have tried having a company film on filming days, but again i struggled to prep, and i think overall i did worse they my wing it fridays.
but i am aware i am rather terrible, and i will keep chipping away at it, but for sure i am going to be of limited appeal to those who enjoy more polished creators! on the other side, a lot of numpties talking absolute rubbish into their i=phones do alright so maybe there is hope for me yet, they just do it for 10 mins at a time. I have to figure out why 10 mins of gibberish is more worthwhile vs longer and yes not scripted but still overall tangilbe actual info.... but again this is a space i am not in my natural environment.
On the plus side - i bet no one else answers comments as well as i do hahahahaha
This Wand Wax makes a huge disservice to waxing. There are still a big number of wax-sceptics. Wand Wax's stupid marketing claims make things even worse. These marketing claims are clearly misleading. In many countries this is against the law.
How tf did wend even get to market with this crap!? The answer is there is no regulation of performance. There should and easily could be a minimum standard for bicycle products. its a big enough industry to warrant the regulation and would be welcomed by everyone who genuinely strives to create fit for purpose products...
Yep. I dont think i can exaggerate the lack of morals and honesty and ethics it takes to go to market saying their customers can rub a solid on the outside of chain and have lubrication deep inside the chain ("Just rub on the outside and have a race ready chain in seconds"). And of course because it is impossible to not know - going to market with that with full knowledge that this marketing angle is completely bullshit. (in my opinion for legal purposes :).
And then the whole - oh not all all chains are created equal - you must need the advanced application technique to dissolve the wax in.....
and then the colours.....
if ever i needed strength during my years at ZFC, it was seeing wend wax take off. It was difficult not the physically throttle bike store owners selling it, and slap with a wet fish customers buying it.

With Wend Wax ....if you applied it to the chain and then used a heat gun to melt it in would that be effective?
effective would be a stretch! It could work, but a few issues - a) if you watch wend wax vid - and this really does happen rather majorly in real application - you actually end up applying heaps to the sides of your chain. This is part of why wend gunks up so much, and you are applying a lot of it outside of plates where you dont need it. b) try using heat gun to evenly heat the fingers of your hand - if you stay a little too long in one spot = ouch. Wax could be easily over heated and damaged. So heating up just the right amount to effectively melt deep into chain, and not over heat and damage - that would be a faff. So still you are better off just dripping on a much better wax drip lubricant.
